1995 m3 coupe manual for trade / sale - Scottsdale AZ

1995 m3 coupe manual with 131600 miles. Asking 13.5

I bought this car to turn into a track car and spent my entire mod budget de-clapping it. Looking to move into a manual 328is or 325is + cash. I’d prefer to trade but I’d consider selling if the offer is right. If I don’t trade it I’m going to fix up some cosmetics and put it on marketplace.

Bone stock besides 22rpd tune that was done in house

Car was one owner 1995-2023 no accidents clean title

Doesn’t leak but hose looks somewhat degraded, hard to tell with manifold in place

Car comes with a stack of receipts from BMW of Southampton from the first owner, including original purchase documents.

CONS:

Headliner sags

Front and rear bumpers look like they’ve been backed into 100x, looks like someone rattle canned the rear bumper

Clearcoat is not failing, but I don’t know if this car has ever seen wax in its life

Dings + dents around the car

The car will occasionally store a 1226 code. There’s a customer complaint in the service records about this, but the tech couldn’t reproduce the problem. CEL doesn’t stay illuminated but it shows up on stomp test every once in a while

Ac blows cold but the pulley bearing is loud as hell

NYC car originally so there’s some corrosion on underbody components, zero rust on the jack points, trunk floor, or under the battery. Happy to send photos of whatever you’d like

Seeps from the oil pan gasket. I’d do the oil pump nut if you plan to fix this, as far as I’m aware it hasn’t been done.

Airbag light is on for some unknown reason.

Gas gauge works sometimes, range button still works

Hoping to get $13,500 open to offers

1225 & 1226 codes on 95 m3

Just finished doing a Vanos rebuild, Icv clean/hose replacement, and CCV hoses/unit on my 95 m3. The car is somewhat new to me, but since I’ve had it it’s been showing 1225 and 1226 codes. The light will pop up at 3k rpm then goes away almost immediately. It won’t do it every time, it seems very intermittent. I’ve tried unplugging the battery overnight and clearing the codes with no luck. It doesn’t throw any other codes. Thanks in advance

Pulling the intake manifold, what should I replace?

Pulling the intake manifold on my 95 m3 in the next couple days to replace the 4 way coolant hose, what else should I do while I’m in there? I’ve already cleaned the ICV and replaced the hoses. The CCV has also been replaced with new hoses. It has 130k miles for whatever it’s worth. Not looking to go crazy, I wouldn’t mind pulling it again if need be but I’d like to replace whatever is a common critical failure point. Thanks

Sticky substance on e36 m3 4 way coolant hose

I can’t see any crusty blue residue on it and it doesn’t smell like coolant but it’s super sticky

Change rod bearings and OPN on us spec s50 130k miles?

Been throwing all types of maintenance at my new to me e36 m3. Immediately replaced everything cooling related, then heard a horrible rattle that sounded a lot like chain tensioner. Upon further inspection it turned out to be the Vanos rattling. Went ahead and had the Vanos rebuilt. I also had a lean code and hunting idle, found a torn ICV -> intake hose so went and did the ICV hoses, pcv/hoses, and cleaned the ICV unit.

I’ve been pretty concerned about the oil pump nut horror stories so I’m considering having the pan dropped and the nut secured. I don’t have a garage and this is outside of what I can do in a parking lot so I’d need to have someone else do it. Is it worth doing rod bearings at the same time? I’m already pretty deep in maintenance cost on this car considering I bought it for 11k

And if anyone feels like dropping a pan on an e36 and you’re in the phx area, send me a PM

Slow coolant loss from reservoir 5vz

My truck is loosing about half a qt of coolant every 10k miles. I don’t see a visible leak anywhere, no smoke from the exhaust, no coolant smell in the exhaust or around the engine bay, no intermix, no wet carpet, no overheating. Water pump rad and tstat were all done around 70k miles ago, and the truck was immaculately maintained before I got it. Any ideas? I haven’t had a chance to chem block test it yet but the coolant in the reservoir doesn’t show any weird film/ signs of over pressure. Anyone else have a similar problem or find the issue? From what I can see in the valley without taking off the intake manifold it looks dry

What should I look to pay for a halfway decent 07ish drz400?

I’ve been shopping around for a drz for a while, I’m coming from a dr200. On Facebook marketplace there seems to be a wide variation in pricing, some are clapped out listed for like 2k while somewhat nice ones go from 3-6. A local dealer had one advertised for 2500 but wanted 3800 out the door for a clapped 07 with 19k miles and oil residue all over it. I live in Arizona if it matters, there at least seems to be a good supply locally

Drz400 vs klx250 for beginner

I had an old dr200 that I would ride around growing up but I’m reasonably new to motorcycles. There are a few drz400s and klx250s in the same price range in my area and I’m split between the two. I’d be doing 98% off road riding only hitting the pavement to connect trails as I don’t like street riding bikes. I have a truck and the trails are super close by so highway comfort isn’t a big deal. I’ve sat on both and the drz felt a little better for my size (6’5 170lbs) but I could see where the klx being smaller would help with a new rider. I’m not looking to do anything super technical, just fire trails and forest roads around Arizona. Thanks in advance

Car makes zero odd noises on cold start and at idle. This noise is only present when at operating temp. Noticeable around 2-2.5k ish rpm. 130k miles, stock Vanos to my knowledge. 95 m3

Only makes the noise above 2-2.5k when warm. Zero noise at cold start or idle. Any ideas? Car drives and idles just fine

Somewhat difficult to hear over the injector/lifter noise but it’s noticeable. Video was taken from right behind the drivers side front tire under the side skirt. You can’t hear it from the engine bay over the other noise from the fan/injectors/lifters. It’s a deep sound not a top end tick. I’m hoping it’s some sort of exhaust leak off the header as i can smell the exhaust when I reverse out of a parking space. My buddy who has an e92 m3 said it sounds like a blown out exhaust gasket. Any ideas? It fluctuates with rpm but you can’t really hear it above 2500

Bought an e36 m3 recently and as I’m going through it fixing odds and ends I’ve read about the oil pump nut a few times. The car seeps from the oil pan gasket and I plan to get to it eventually, but if the oil pump nut issue is widespread enough I’ll bite the bullet and do it now. So far the car has gotten a full cooling system refresh and I’m getting ready to diagnose the inop AC. It was one owner 95-23 and I doubt it’s been tracked as it’s full old man spec (silver on black with lux package, delivered to BMW of the Hamptons). Anything else I should look at (not necessarily related to having the pan dropped) while I have the car in my garage? Thanks in advance
