Hopefully this is more accessible for those in the South End who can't easily get to the Bayers Road Clinic. There are still lots of appointments available if anyone has some time to donate! Just wanted to share something I recently learned about IUD procedures at the IWK.
I am having my IUD replaced, and the procedure will be done in the procedure room with sedation for pain management. I was offered both oral and IV sedation. I chose oral sedation because I had it for my previous IUD procedure and it worked well for me.
I wanted to share this because I know IUD insertion or removal can be extremely painful.
If you are having an IUD procedure, it may be worth asking about being referred to the IWK and whether oral or IV sedation is an option for you.
I wasn’t aware that IV sedation was available, so I thought this might be helpful for others to know.
