Smooth summer rides
Made some upgrades to my Suelt Cross heck since I last posted here. Got a white industries hub, sugino cranks w/ a new bb, and simworks bubbly pedals. I think I finally built my dream bike.

Trying to embark on some easy bikepacking trips later this year on my single speed beater. Needs more storage which I'm working on finding and I plan to try sewing my own frame bag from a canvas military duffle. Super fun for getting groceries and making quick trips right now though.
I started up on a beater bike awhile back. It’s a single speed 26er MTB/BMX/Road build. My current ratio is great for parks and trails but I need something for road riding when I’m not headed to a destination. Is 34/12 better? I usually ride 48/17 on a 29er for road and I love it! Perfect amount of resistance and great engagement. So I really want something comparable to that. Issue is if I try to get the crankset off the beater I built the frame is toast 😂. It wont come off by any means and the dudes at the bike shop said ride it till the wheels fall off so I’m stuck with a 34t direct mount chainring. Any ideas on swapping the back cog?
I know everybody in y'all area is not bad, but every time I’ve been through even as a light skin mixed guy I get some pretty crazy looks. There are a lot of places in Grants Pass and nearby that genuinely look like beautiful spots to travel to, but I’m incredibly nervous because of the history of the area as well as the lean towards the right. If it were me and me alone I really wouldn’t care about coming through, but if I’m bringing my family with me, it’s a different situation. Does anybody have advice on navigating the way through Grants Pass while black, I’m really not trying to be an asshole. GP is just one of the few places in Oregon that feels like a no-go zone, for me at least.
Super fun to just rip around on and foot brake with for now but I made a lot of mistakes 😂 this will probably be a long time build that just gets perfected slowly. Love jumping through flat trails and tanking fields on it though. Proud of my paint job though!
I’m on a budget but I really want to get into bikepacking and get out on some adventures. Considering trading this guy my Nintendo Switch (since I don’t use it much) for his Miyata. Sounds like people enjoyed them but just wanted to know if this looks worth it.
Looking to start a bikepacking rig and also get rid of something at the same time. Anybody have an L/XL frame bike good for bikepacking they would trade for an OLED Nintendo Switch? I’ve hardly used it and it might as well be new. I have the docking station, all chords, and one of those single controller adapters, also the latest legend of Zelda physical copy! Thanks.
I got all my wisdom teeth out last week and it’s been smooth so far. I’m a serious hypochondriac though so every little feeling is scaring the hell out of me tbh. All the sites seem to be regularly healing and the pain + most of my swelling has subsided. The bottom right is where I had a coronectomy. That’s been the problem site. Since day 1 I’ve had a hard golf ball sized lump near my chin that didn’t go down with the swelling. The top of the area feels like there is flakes just lying there and it’s such a weird sensation I can’t seem to stop. And finally today I woke up with these white lumps around the bottom. The hole itself looks fine but I have no idea what that stuff is.
Local shop is pretty small and didn’t have a bb smaller than 107mm, I just bought a Sugino RD2 crankset which is of course 103mm. It’s going on a single speed and the chainline shouldn’t be an issues BUT is it going to bottom out really fast or cause any kind of serious damage matching these up?
On the right is my tried and true un55 which is sadly 113mm I’ve used it across three bikes but I really want to give sugino a shot and I figured 103-113 would be way out out whack
