Someone has been dumping birdseed outside these apartments at 4 AM for the past two years.
The "Mystery Man" feeding birdseed at night and pre-dawn hours is known as the "Birdman of Burwood," a masked individual who has been captured on camera performing covert 4:00 AM seed-dropping raids.
For two years, this hooded figure has arrived quietly at pre-dawn hours with buckets of birdseed, dumping them outside apartment complexes before vanishing. The routine leaves residents awake and fuming as large flocks of birds descend at sunrise, creating extreme noise and mess.
I ran a 5k this morning and I’m so pissed.
I ran such a good time. When I crossed the finish line the official timer said 23:00. My watch said 23:09 but whatever. Basically the same.
However I have an ancient forerunner 35. When you stop the timer you have an option to resume or save. I HIT RESUME. IT WAS OVER 2:00 MINUTES PAST MY FINISH TIME BY YHE TIME I NOTICED. Needless to say my run basically didn’t count.
Also there was less than 100 participants so it also didn’t count. And the third placed finisher was in the age group ABOVE ME! At least the winners were cross country runners in highschool but it was so embarrassing to have basically a geriatric adult run faster than me. I should have just stayed home, or at least went home early
I stayed because I was certain I won my age division and all the other participants only got bullshit ribbons. I was so stoked to be awarded my medal.
But guess what? NO MEDALS! Basically I wasted my Sunday morning running the slowest 5k ultra of all time.
Next time I’ll know better. I’ll just boof some Gu and do my normal 1k long run.
Today I ran the furthest I’ve ever run
I can’t believe how good I felt after. Proper fueling and hydration makes a huge difference.
I posted the rural Midwest pics last week. I had the opportunity to go for a long run total so I went for it. Prior to this my longest run was 17 miles.
Before these long runs I drive out and toss Gatorade bottles at various intervals. I had five out total. The most I’ve ever tossed. I even left some pieces of a donut at a couple stops. Clutch. I needed it.
It was such a nice run. My feet hurt because they just spread grave on most of these roads so there wasn’t much flat portions for me to run on. An east wind? Thats crazy.
I can’t believe how good I felt afterwards. My legs and feet hurt but my energy was good.
Life has been tough the last year. Returning to running and being able to push myself this far has been great. I plan to push myself even further.
Running is so fun.
Disregard the uneven stache.
I live in a rural Midwest town. Here’s what my runs look like
What do we think? Scenic or boring? I love it. Especially service level B dirt roads.
