Microphone Quality Sounds Muddy on Home Setup

Read this sub and it seems like the best budget home karaoke setup is a mic + mixer + PA speakers. I ended buying the following setup but am getting really low fidelity output from the mics, they can get really loud but are really lacking clarity. The setup:

Microphone: Behringer Ultravoice XM8500
Highly rated mic, supposed to be very close to Shure SM58s based on many reviews.

Mixer: PylePro PMXU48BT
The cheapest mixer I could find.

PA Speaker: Alto TS 312
12" PA speaker. Probably overkill for a home karaoke setup as I've read 8" speakers are enough, but this was only slightly more expensive than the cheapest 8" speaker I could find so I upgraded.

Did some research and it looks like my mixer is missing mic preamps, so I'm wondering if that's causing the muddy mic quality. Also it seems like the dedicated private KTV venues use dedicated karaoke processors that have DSPs that prevent howling, compress audio levels, and have a built-in amplifier, so I'm wondering if I need to get one of these as well for good quality mic audio.

Sudden Battery Drain on X9U

I debloated my Find X9 Ultra about a month ago and was getting about 14 hr SOT, but in the past couple of days I'm suddenly getting intense battery drain from very light use. For reference, in the attached screenshot just using my phone for 6.5 hrs drained my battery from 80% to 20% (60% of battery), even though in the past this would only use up 30% of battery. I've not installed any new apps or software updates from Oppo either, has anyone else encountered sudden battery drain?

Another Day, Another Disappointing X9 Ultra Case

Not many wood cases are available for the X9 Ultra so when this case popped up on Aliexpress I immediately pulled the trigger and took one for the team. Got the case today and was sad to find that the fit and finish was average, the sides are made of a cheap rubber that has no shock absorption and the camera lens made of this cheap plastic that's a finger oil magnet. The worse part is that this case was designed for the Polar Glacier and Canyon Orange colorways (even though there's no center cutout for the Hasselblad "H" in the camera bump, as the case itself struggles to fit my Tundra Umber model because it's a few mm thicker than the other colors, you can see the edges warping around my phone when I put in on. The X9U is an amazing phone, but the design choice of having such a huge camera lens (which makes a ton of magsafe accessories hang over the phone) and making the Tundra Umber variant be a few mm thicker than the other colors (which impacts case compatibility) is really a weak spot in this ecosystem.

Magsafe Accessories for X9 Ultra

Due to how big the camera bump is on the X9U I've been having a hard time finding magsafe accessories that don't stick out over the edge of the phone or look ugly when attached. This is further exacerbated by the fact that most cases place the magsafe ring too low on the case, so I've resorted to buying normal cases and then slapping a magsafe sticker myself so that I could get the ring placement as high up the case as possible. Curious to see what methods/accessories the community has been using to overcome this problem, post your accessories below!

Gesture Navigations Changed

On my aunt's iPhone, you cannot see recent apps by swiping up and holding, instead you must just swipe up without holding, and when you reach the recent apps screen you can't exit it by by swiping up again, you must select one of the recent apps to leave that screen. Why is her gesture navigation different from the default? She has a bunch of accessibility features turned on as well as app hiding, how do I return her gesture navigation back to normal?

Oppo's Stock Dialer is a huge battery hog

Decided to try Oppo's stock Dialer over Google's because I wanted access to call recording, AI transcribing, and AI translate, but the app itself is a giant battery hog. Over the span of a single evening the biggest drain by far on my battery was the stock dialer, looks like it runs a bunch of telemetry and updates in the background, I recommend never using this app and disabling it. It's a shame I'll lose out on AI call translation, but it's not worth the battery drain.

Find X9 Ultra Case Reviews

You may know me from the multitude of Chinese FX9U cases I've posted in the past:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Oppo/comments/1t12hwz/china_x9u_users_eating_good/

https://www.reddit.com/r/Oppo/comments/1tznv75/new_batch_of_x9_ultra_cases/

And if you were wondering, I did indeed order some of these cases to test for myself, but because shipping from China takes over a month only just yesterday did I receive these cases, and after testing them all out here are my candid opinions.

Pic number + corresponding case:

2-6: Sanlinba Shade Mist Case

7-11: Abeel Case

12-16: AIUV Grating Case

17-20: Hannuo Vegan Leather Case

Sanlinba Shade Mist Case

  • Very well made, might honestly be the most protective of all the cases I bought
  • Made of thick plastic, and has "airbag" ridges along the inner edge of the case for extra shock absorption
  • Metal buttons
  • Lip rises above the screen for extra protection, even with a screen protector applied
  • Inner edge of the camera ring is cut out in an hexagonal shape which accentuates the aperture design of the camera bump
  • Final icing on the case is that the magsafe ring is located as high up the case as possible, allowing for the attachment of a magsafe wallet without overhanging the edge

Abeel Case

  • There're a bunch of these cases floating around on Aliexpress with all sorts of different designs, but I picked this design because it was the only Abeel design without branding on the back
  • Plastic not as thick as Salinba but still feels good
  • Buttons are made of metal, which feels nice
  • Camera ring is made of metal as well, which feels extremely nice when holding it
  • Lip rises above the screen for extra protection, even with a screen protector applied
  • Has a lanyard hole
  • Unfortunately magsafe ring is located lower on this case, so a magsafe wallet will overhang the case

AIUV Grating Case

  • Probably the case with the most hype around it around the launch of the FX9U
  • Sexiest design out of all the cases
  • Features a hall magnet for oppo AirVOOC compatibility
  • Case is thinner than the above 2 cases, which means less drop protection but does mean it feels more sleek in the hand
  • Does have a TPU membrane which covers the camera button, which makes the camera button less responsive in my opinion, but the case maker says it's necessary for long term structural integrity of the case
  • Screen lip is flush with the phone screen after a screen protector is applied
  • Unfortunately magsafe ring is located lower on this case, so a magsafe wallet will overhang the case ever so slightly

Hannuo Vegan Leather Case

  • Another case with a ton of hype around it at launch, as it was the only case that mimicked the original design of the tundra umber colorway, though I picked white to be iconoclastic
  • Material looks and feels alright, but I wouldn't classify it anything special, it's all plastic
  • Does have dual lanyard holes
  • Screen lip is flush with the phone screen after a screen protector is applied
  • No magsafe ring on this case, magsafe versions of this case have apparently been released after I ordered. On the bright side it allows for me to apply my own magsafe ring and position it exactly the way I want it, which would fit my magsafe wallet

Verdict

In the end, I think I am going to keep the Abeel case with the Sanlinba case coming in a very close 2nd, as I really need the lanyard loop and don't want to use any of the lanyard accessories that attach through the power port opening. The metal camera ring is a nice touch too. The other 2 cases are fine too, but I just prefer thicker cases that offer more protection.

Final Note

If anyone is interested in the Sanlinba, AIUV, or Hannuo cases and live in the US, I'd be happy to sell my extra cases to you at cost plus shipping, or at the prices below if you're local to Dallas (i.e. what I paid for the cases)

  • Sanlinba Shade Mist: $12
  • AIUV Grating: $15
  • Hannuo Vegan Leather: $18

As an added bonus I'll help you order any of the chinese cases you might be interested in that I've posted about in any of my prior threads. Cheers!

Popout and Motion Collage features missing

Has anyone noticed that the Popout and Motion Collage features are now missing? I was still able to use them 2 months ago, but now after the latest ColorOS update it looks like those have been removed, at least on the Oneplus 13. What a disappointment.

Unofficial X9U Cases

Found these unlicensed cases from some sellers on social media, these are probably the best ones currently that sport the Hasselblad logo. Not available via official channels, but if you know how to work Taobao, Rednote, or Douyin you can snag one

Already bought a case, but these luxury goatskin/snakeskin and japanese leather cases are making my wallet itchy...

Probably the best cases I've found for the Find X9 Ultra so far, the only question left is do I pick the goatskin + embossed snakesnake or the lacquered himeji kurozan leather version?

How I made a Travel Film on a Phone | OPPO Find X9 Ultra

Brandon Li made an incredible travel film using the X9 Ultra. Granted he did shoot in LOG and had an ND filter, gimbal, and tripod as external accessories, but it's quite impressive the quality of footage he was able to get with very little equipment

Does anyone have recommendations for a magsafe wallet that can fit the phone on the left? As you can see there's not much vertical space so the shorter the wallet the better (under 3.5" tall ideally), bonus if the wallet has a stand, grip, or another magnet on top so that I can attach my own grip to it. Thanks!

Just saw this brutal crash as I was out in Carrollton, looks like a sedan and SUV collided head on but it was the SUV that got flipped instead somehow ... hope everyone involved has no serious injuries and please remember to drive safe on these streets y'all 🙏

Was deciding between the X300U and the X9U a while back and pulled the trigger on the X9U since I didn't think I was going to be using the external lenses much as they required a special case and it was kinda ugly if used as an every day carry. However, I just discovered that some independent Chinese artisans have reverse engineered the lens mount and have come out with lens compatible cases of their own, which changes the entire calculus since the external lenses would be much easier to use in this case. It's too late for me now since I already pulled the trigger on the X9U, but hope someone is able to order these and report back with the results!

Been looking at the case options for the X9U on Aliexpress and they kinda suck compared to what Chinese users are posting on their social media... do I need to make a trip to China to get the best stuff 😂

I’ve owned my X300 Ultra for a couple of weeks now and I am loving it. I don’t mind the huge camera bump at all, but apparently God disagrees and felt that I deserved to have my glass all scuffed up.

I have been rocking totally naked iPhones since iPhone 7 and I have NEVER once seen a single mark on the camera lenses. I even still carry an iPhone Air to this day. I guess Vivo doesn’t care enough to use premium glass on their massive bump.

edit:

a lot of people in thread are trying to be smart by pointing out that the camera bump is much larger than iPhone’s so obviously it’s going to get scratched. Umm there is something else that’s much larger too; the 6.8-inch slab of glass on the other side. It’s completely unprotected and it has zero scratches.

I will concede that I am unlucky and a sourpuss about something that was my fault, but I also don’t think it’s unreasonable for me to believe that Vivo is definitely using a low quality glass on their camera bump when compared against the screen, or against camera bumps and screens from other brands.

Anyone find a good case for the X9 Ultra? I'm looking for both wallet and magsafe capabilities, but it looks like since the camera island is so big typical magsafe wallets would overhang the bottom of the phone, wondering if anyone has found a good solution for this.
