SO has a 401k and a pension

My SO’s work has a 401k and a pension. I recently found out they only contribute very little to their 401k, and their reasoning is because of the pension. I’m not sure if they’re even getting the full company match on the 401k.

Since there’s a pension, they have to contribute a certain amount to that, and because of it they say they can’t really contribute much to the 401k. Is there an actual rule/ recommendation that applies when you have both? I think I need more details from them to get a better answer here, but figured I’d ask in the meantime.

Is taping worth the trouble?

Is this worth the trouble? I figure either this or I could get an edger. Also looking for advice on how to do the windows without painting them shut

LBC paint recommendations

I have a 1940s house with lead paint trim. I bought LBC paint and been doing a small room. Has anyone have experience using this stuff? It seems really thick also I’m worried about using it in the house with a 1 year old looking at the sds. Feels daunting how much more I have to do and not wanting to put harmful fumes in the house. Any tips?

Quote comparison

I got 2 quotes awhile back for new gutters this is for a 1940s house. Wanted round gutters but price is doubled and they aren’t as good as K style I heard. Which one would you go with here?

Trying to decide between these two garage builds and could use some opinions.

Option 1:
24x24 two-story garage with an 18’ door full size, more storage, and better if I ever want a workshop or extra space upstairs.

Option 2:
Single-car two-story garage with a carport smaller footprint, but the carport adds covered parking and could be more versatile for everyday use. Cheaper probably

Both would be brand new builds with similar finishes.

What would you go with and why? More enclosed space or the added flexibility of a carport?

We currently have a small, older garage with a carport, and it’s just not cutting it anymore on space. It barely fits a vw Beatle.

Got quotes for option 1 which is 60k for knock down, new slab, and just the build no electrical or other finishing in the garage
