Does everyone fall off eventually?

I had my first fall yesterday, and I’m not sure how I feel about it. I asked my instructor if I did anything wrong and she said no, it’s part of learning etc. but I just wandering whether it actually is a normal part of the learning process.

EDIT: I just want to add what a lovely bunch of people have responded to this post, it’s genuinely made me feel so much better. Thank you so much everyone :)

Looking for the strongest cordless vacuum cleaner

Hi there!

I’m looking for a recommendation for a UK cordless vacuum cleaner that works on wood flooring, upholstering, carpets, and rugs. I‘d like for it to come with attachments to convert into a hand held for the car and sofa nooks, but also be able to handle picking up cat hair and general dust and debris on the floor.

I value power over the battery life, I’d rather have to wait a while for a second charge to do the rest of the house, than have to do it twice.

I‘m not interested in how it looks, and I’m happy to spend a little extra for something that will last a long time, is repairable, and a true workhorse.

I have a budget up to £650 maximum.

Thanks so much :)

Can anyone recommend a good domestic cleaning service?

I’ve tried to get in touch with a few companies through their website WhatsApp links and no one ever seems to message me back. I don’t want to call 5 cleaning services and then get added to 5 call lists and then deal with the phone calls. Can anyone recommend a good clesning service?

Best equestrian facilities for adult learners

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the Surrey area, living in Guildford. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for the best equestrian facilities for adult riding lessons? I don't own a horse, but I've done lessons before.

I'm aware there are a lot of facilities around, so wondered if there were any specifically really good ones.

Thanks :)

Can someone help me to find this exact armchair?

I know it's not the John Lewis x Sanderson Barley Mow Newnham Courtney Accent Chair.

I've tried a reverse image search, too.

Avoid AnyVan at all costs.

I'm adding to the choir of AnyVan misery to try to stop at least one person from ever using AnyVan again. I've also collated a list of similar posts on the HousingUK Sub to save everyone some effort.

I consider myself quite scam literate, and even I missed this one. I googled AnyVan TrustPilot and the Google reviews, and both were excellent. I'd heard it's difficult to get reviews removed from TrustPilot and Google but having left my own reviews and they've now been removed, I'll not be relying so heavily on TP or Google again in the future. Usually, if TP or Google reviews are anything above a 4*, I don't do further searches, which is a lesson learned. If they're anything below a 3.5* I google the company name with "Scam" or "Reddit" after it and find more realistic reviews.

I paid £961 for a 2 bed house move over 100 ish miles. I kept realising I'd missed items off the inventory so I logged back on or called up to keep adding them. I'd been given a discount over the phone with the customer services rep, but every time I went to add items online, the discount got removed, so I kept calling up. At one point in my move, I got tired of calling up to add individual items so I wrote a list of items, emailed it to the customer services rep, and asked her to let me know if there were any additional costs. She confirmed she'd make sure they were added to the inventory and I went about my move. I also told them they'd need two vans, not one. She said they'd send one van and if they needed a second one, they'd bring a second van at no cost to me.

My partner stayed to help the drivers on the morning of the move, and I headed off early in the morning with our cat to keep her calm and away from the bustle of the movers and get her settled in.

Half way across the journey on the motorway, AnyVan call up and demand a £450 fee for the additional items, and a £150 "distance" fee for the distance between the block of flats I lived in, and the parking, which there wasn't any because there was parking in the building.

I refused, stating I'd already told them about all additional items. CS (Customer services) said they'd refund it when they see proof that they were told about the items and said the drivers would dump our things at the bottom of our building if we didn't pay. I furiously said okay to the £450 but said I did not give me permission for the extra payment to be made. They took both the £450 and £150 charge anyway.

When I got to the new place, I sent them proof of them being told about the additional items and checked my invoice. They refused to issue a refund stating that responsibility for making sure that I was charged appropriately was on me, not them. I also found on my invoice a £275 "custom fee", an additional fee for the option to pay nothing until 72 hours before the move, despite being told to pay immediately.

They left 30% of my belongings at my old house because the items wouldn't fit in one van, refused to send out a second van at all, and now I've had to pay to hire another van for 2 days, move items myself, a late rescheduling fee for my end of tenancy move, and they're refusing to refund my money.

I arranged a chargeback through my bank and I'm raising this with all relevant legal bodies.

Do not use AnyVan. You cannot trust the TrustPilot reviews of AnyVan, or the AnyVan Google Reviews.

What’s this area in Guildford like to live in?

Considering moving here from a much cheaper area. Wondering whether it’s a good area of Guildford to be? For additional context, looking around the central area of the screenshot :)

Looking for moving men last minute

I booked a moving company to help me move house on Monday, but called up to ask to add some more boxes onto the move and immediately a bunch of red flags went up. Had to be very specific on box numbers, said that if there's even one box over, then they won't accept it and it'll be left behind etc. and I'm moving 116 miles away.

Looking for reputable moving company to help me move from Bris to Guildford on Monday if anyone knows of any reputable, decent movers in the area.

Thank you

Does anyone have a recommendation for a cat carrier for a long distance house move?

I'm moving 2.5hours away (hoping for no traffic...) and want my cat to be as comfortable as possible in the move and in the car. Does anyone have any recommendations for large cat carriers that will keep her safe, contained, and as comfortable as can be?

Thank you :)
