TW: One Of The Biggest Rising Korean Actors Involved In Dating Violence Allegations, Agency Issues Initial Statement

Actor Hong Min Gi has become embroiled in dating violence allegations.

Influencer A, who has around 20,000 followers, posted allegations against Hong Min Gi via her Instagram Story in the early hours of August 19th, along with a certified letter sent through a law firm.

The letter, dated July 28th, was titled “Notice Of Intent To Take Legal Action Over Illegal Criminal Conduct,” and claims Hong Min Gi threw dangerous objects at her and subjected her to physical assault and threats.

According to A’s claims, he threw and broke a soju bottle toward her on the street, and called her more than 40 times after suspecting she was cheating. During a later meeting, he allegedly made threatening remarks including “If I find them, I was going to kill them both” and “I’ll kill that person.” The letter also claims he struck her shoulder, shoved her, and grabbed her by the throat.

A further alleged that Hong Min Gi invaded her privacy by secretly checking her phone and KakaoTalk messages, and claimed that while driving under the influence with her riding along on a kickboard, he caused an accident that left her seriously injured, saying she has photos of the resulting injuries.

After releasing the letter, A posted an additional photo confirming, “This is the person from the earlier story,” directly identifying Hong Min Gi.

These remain claims made unilaterally by A. Regarding them, Hong Min Gi’s agency Fable Company said, “We are organizing our position and plan to release an official statement soon.”

Hong Min Gi debuted in 2020 and has appeared in “It’s Been a While Since I Loved You,” “Love Is On a Single-Plank Bridge,” “Study Group,” “Bunny and the Boys,” “Trigger,” “My Dearest Nemesis,” and “Dr. Slump,” and is set to release “Study Group Season 2.”

So Ji-sub Teases ‘Agent Kim Reactivated’ Season 2: “We Might Move as a Team”

So Ji-sub opens up about the success of "Agent Kim Reactivated" and teases Season 2, hinting at a larger storyline and the possibility of the characters moving as a team.

In a new pictorial and interview released by Bold Page on August 18, So Ji-sub discussed the changes he has experienced following the success of “Agent Kim Reactivated,” his criteria for choosing projects, his desire to take on more romantic comedies, and what it has been like living as a star for so many years

Reflecting on the popularity of the drama, So Ji-sub said that one of the biggest changes has been the way people address him. “There are many younger generations who haven’t seen I’m Sorry, I Love You. But with Agent Kim Reactivated, people from many different generations watched it, so these days, I’m most often called ‘agent Kim’ rather than by my own name,” he said. The comment highlights the broad appeal of the drama, which attracted viewers across different age groups.

Following his previous project “Mercy for None,” So Ji-sub had been interested in returning to an action drama. However, it was not necessarily the action itself that attracted him to “Agent Kim Reactivated.” “I wanted to do another action drama after Mercy for None. Agent Kim Reactivated was the project that came to me at the time, but rather than the action, I really liked the story of Agent Kim and the environment he had lived in,” the actor explained.

His performance subsequently became one of the major driving forces behind the drama’s success. “Agent Kim Reactivated” recorded a peak nationwide rating of 23.1 percent, according to Nielsen Korea, prompting discussions about producing a second season.

When asked about his thoughts on Season 2, So Ji-sub expressed a preference for a storyline that would have a strong central conflict rather than simply continuing with separate episodes. “Rather than something new, personally, I would like there to be something big at the center of the story, instead of an episodic format, like what happened when the daughter disappeared this time,” he said. His comments suggest that a potential second season could build around a major overarching incident that connects the episodes and pushes the characters into a larger conflict.

So Ji-sub also hinted that Agent Kim’s role could change depending on the direction of the story. “I don’t know how we’ll prepare for it yet. Agent Kim’s role will probably change a little depending on that. Then I think we could show various sides of him within that,” he said.

The actor then offered perhaps the most interesting tease about “Agent Kim Reactivated” Season 2: “Maybe we’ll move as a team? The universe is just so big.” While he did not reveal any concrete plot details, the remark has sparked curiosity about whether the second season could expand the drama’s world and bring its major characters together for a larger-scale mission.

Starring So Ji-sub, Choi Dae-hoon, and Yoon Kyung-ho, SBS’s Friday-Saturday drama “Agent Kim Reactivated” is a revenge action series centered on an ordinary father who transforms into an extraordinarily dangerous man to rescue his only daughter. The drama presents a unique “dad universe” as its protagonist, once an ordinary father, is pushed into an increasingly dangerous world while fighting to bring his daughter home.

With the drama achieving a peak rating of 23.1 percent and discussions surrounding Season 2 already underway, So Ji-sub’s latest comments offer an intriguing glimpse at what could come next. For now, however, viewers will have to wait for an official announcement to learn whether “Agent Kim Reactivated” Season 2 will actually move forward—and what the actor’s hint about “moving as a team” might mean.

Gong Hyo-jin Shows Support for Jung Joon-won Amid Attitude Controversy: “I Brought Him Here”

Gong Hyo-jin showed her support for Jung Joon-won at the wrap party for their drama, warmly standing by him amid recent controversy over his attitude.

On August 14, a dinner gathering was held in Yeouido, Seoul, to celebrate the completion of filming for MBC’s Friday-Saturday drama A Bona Fide Killer.

With some members of the press and fans present at the scene, Gong Hyo-jin first took part in a photo session before emerging from the restaurant with her arm linked with Jung Joon-won’s.

As this was Jung Joon-won’s first appearance in front of reporters since becoming embroiled in an attitude controversy, the situation could have been understandably uncomfortable for him. Gong Hyo-jin lightened the mood by jokingly saying, “I brought him here,” while Jung Joon-won naturally joined the photo session, posing with heart gestures for the cameras.

Jung Joon-won recently faced criticism over what viewers perceived as an insincere attitude on MBC’s Hangout with Yoo. Gong Hyo-jin subsequently revealed that the actor had actually vomited after filming, explaining that he had been recording the program while under extreme pressure and tension.

At the time, Gong Hyo-jin expressed her sympathy on social media, writing that Jung Joon-won had “really thrown up after filming” and apologizing that she had not been able to help him. She later continued to show her affection and support by uploading several photos with Jung Joon-won on social media.

Against this backdrop, Gong Hyo-jin once again demonstrated her considerate side at the wrap party, standing by her younger co-star and helping him feel more comfortable in front of the press. Her warm gesture has drawn positive attention and highlighted the supportive relationship between the two actors.
