my “new” 2012 Audi A6 at 17!

was getting tired of my old beat golf and have been wanting something new. my master tech at my shop mentioned his friend (who is an Audi master tech) was selling his personal A6. Went by and took a look, and now it’s mine lol. I paid $8500 cash. it’s got the 3.0t motor and has been beautifully maintained its whole life. Over its 200k miles of life it’s had 3k oil changes, and has recently had all new suspension work completed. Also has paperwork of when the water pump, vaccum pump, pcv, etc was serviced. It also has a custom stage one tune. Chains have never been serviced but I’m not sure they’ll have to be for the remainder of its life. How’d I do? This is my first ever Audi and im excited to have fun with it.

advice on if I should buy a used Audi A6

I’ve recently been looking for a new car that I can daily as my 2000 golf I currently have is just not comfortable for my 35 min drive to work and back. I work a a dealer, and recently was talking to one of the old techs that visits the shop all the time if he had any cars for sale. he owns an Audi/vw specialty repair shop. he told me that he is selling his personal car, an Audi A6 3.0 supercharged v6. In the past couple months he’s put a bunch of work into it as he wants to sell it.
Mileage: 215k
Everything new:
All new Meyle control arms
Meyle ball joints
Meyle struts
Meyle tie rods
Alignment
Full ZF trans service with flush
Awd service
Oil changes every 3k miles with BG additive for timing chain
New water pump
New vaccum pump
New spark plugs/coils
Stage one tune
The car is also mint, no rust at all and interior and exterior looks amazing.
Also was road tested by me and it felt great
this car has been family owned for the past 120k miles of its life and has been meticulously maintained. he has service records of everything he’s done thru his shop.
Only bad thing about this car is that timing has never been done and it does have a chain slap on cold starts. but I’ve been told that’s common on these engines and that timing rarely goes bad if oil quality is maintained. He wants 8k for it but knowing timing hasn’t been done and that it needs new tires I might try to go down to 7.5k with cash in hand. not sure if it’s a dumb decision because of the mileage but I really feel that this is a strong car just because of the maintenance put into it through its life. please let me know as I’m a vw guy and don’t really know much about the newer Audis. Thanks!

is buying my dream mk4 r32 a bad idea at 17?

wasn't sure where else to post this lol. Im 17 years old and have been thinking about buying my dream car already. Im in a situation where I have worked my ass off and have parents who are willing to let me live with them rent free for a couple years. I have been working at a ford dealer as an apprentice in a trade program with my school for about a year now and just got my first big raise to 23/hr as I have graduated. This will compound into more raises every 3-6 months per my training plan as I progress and become an independent tech on flat rate. I also work at target on the weekends leading to about 10 hrs/ a week at 15.75/hr. My checks combined with both jobs are about $1800 bi-weekly. I have $10k in savings as well as a $5k car fund given to me by my grandma. Given the situation I am in, I'm able to have tons of more freedom with my money while still saving like crazy. This leads me to a decision that sounds bad financially but would make me very happy. I want to buy a Mk4 Volkswagen R32 as my next daily driver. Costs on these cars are about $15-25k depending on mileage and condition. I know vehicles are depreciating assets and aren't good investments but I want to be able to have this car now rather than wait 5 or so years where there is less of them out there leading to them costing more. I'm just very on the fence. I can easily make up the money again in under a year, but I don't want to make a decision that's a waste of my time and money. Thanks for reading, pls let me know thoughts😅

Anyone have advice on how to convert this auto harness into a manual?

Just bought a full wire harness for my 6 speed mk4 24v vr6 as my last one was hacked up. I found a steal on marketplace, $200 for an ecu and wire harness for the engine and trans. I’ve been looking for weeks everyday. In my excitement I didn’t notice the “trans harness” part. turns out I got an auto harness for a 5 speed tiptronic. My question is now, how should I go about converting the auto side of the harness into a manual harness. Does any of the tcu wires splice into any ecu wires? The engine harness is the exact same so I just have to modify the other side that has the tcu connectors. I’d assume clutch pedal sensor into the pnp interlock wire, and then figure out the reverse lights and speed sensor. Any help would be appreciated!

anyone have a guess as to why my starter won’t engage anymore?

been working on my 2002 vr6 gti for the past year now and I’m finally coming back together. when it was last running it would start no problem. now that I have everything back together wire wise, it no longer wants to engage the starter. main grounds are good and cleaned. when I try to start the lights on the dash dim but I hear nothing engage or even click. battery is good. not sure why the starter doesn’t wanna work anymore.
