Hey guys, I am currently still in university and have heard a lot about how this is the most important skill that would help me at L1/helpdesk. I dont know where to start or how to learn this skill, anyone have any tips on how to practice??? Any advice that would've helped you guys early on in your career?
Hey guys, I've done some research regarding what distros are mostly used in enterprises and RHEL is something that seems common. My long term goal is helpdesk > sysadmin > network engineering or devops. The city I live in has a lot of opportunities in the mining industry.
For context, I am in university studying IT and since I have tons of free time, I'm trying to upskill as much as I can. I recently got my CCNA, MD-102 and now looking to get a linux cert. Is there anything you guys recommend other than RHCSA??
For those of you who don't know about AB-900, it is the closest thing to MS-900. The area I live around requires knowledge of the different admin centres so I am wondering which one would be better....
Hey lads, just looking for advice as to how I should apply for l1 support roles. I have a year left of uni (IT degree), I recently got my CCNA and security+ and I'm doing literally anything to be the a top candidate. Any advice on how I can maybe change my approach to something better??
Hey guys I recently got my lf ticket and white card and was wondering what is the best way to get a casual role?? I can work most shifts but dont have a drivers license unfortunately however I do have reliable transport. Feel like applying to job platforms like seek isn’t really helping so do I just cold call labor hire agencies?
Hey guys, I've recently gotten my first ever It certification to help with finding a l1 job but the problem is that it is a CCNA............Now I've heard people say its overkill for a first job and would actually decrease my chances of employment, now I don't know if that is true so I want to hear your thoughts, thanks.
As a grad I’m aware of how many people keep telling me that soft skills get you job rather than technical knowledge but I dont know what it means. Does it mean that be helpful and patient with people or just constantly not be yourself like being overly enthusiastic and forcing expressions. Need to hear people’s experiences………
Are linux skills niche in australia? because most jobs Ive researched require knowledge of azure or on prem windows stack. How useful would it be for me to upskill in linux. Im asking this as a uni student looking to work in this space…..
Hey lads, I currently work in IT so I have decent knowledge of networking and the usual infrastructure stack, if I wanted to work onsite fifo in OT do I need to get an engineering qualification or just learn OT by myself and would it be easy for me to gain knowledge since I already work in IT? cheers.......
I might get absolutely grilled for this question but anyways I'm 20 and studying FT 2nd year uni. Is it possible that I'm able to do a part time apprenticeship alongside my uni or is there no such thing???? I feel like im pretty decent at managing my time for studies and other things. I tried researching this but I found diff answers.
At entry level it's absolutely flooded lol, 300+ apps for helpdesk and not even a single interview offer. Im hoping its not the same for you mid-senior level people.......Does it get any better?
Every job requires MS ecosystem knowledge, Its like linux is non existent in australia. Are there even any linux jobs in this country??
Fastest way to get a casual warehouse job while doing uni? I can probs work 6 days a week as well.........what are my chances? I'm open to getting licenses too so any advice would be appreciated cheers.
Basically yea. I recently got my CCNA and security+ and have been pushing to get my first ever role in IT (helpdesk/L1 support) and obviously since I have no exp the only way im able to improve my resume is through certs and homelabs. I would probably go for a MS cert next but Ive heard having too many certs especially for L1 makes you a weird candidate idk lol.
Hey lads, Im a 2nd year domestic student studying IT and I have sent out more than 500 apps and still no luck. Yes I know (looking through this sub) the market is extremely rough. I have CCNA and Sec+ and thought it would be enough to land my first L1 role unfortunately. I just want to know what next step I should take cheers. Plz dont comment bs like switch careers or something 😂.
Was on conditional status because of last semester and failed another core unit but it still says im on conditional status??
I failed a core unit last semester hence the conditional status but for next semester I've changed my course and the new course doesn't require the unit I failed.
Do I have to redo the unit to change my status even though it isn't required or can I ask the management to change my status back to normal?
I've done CCNA and sec+ in the last 6 months and have learnt more about IT than my 3 year degree has ever taught me.........
Was trying to put my mate on some certs and stumbled upon this. Where do they get these numbers from???
