Swansea

Hi, I'm looking into get solar panels. Has anyone had experience of installers in Swansea? I'm planning own getting 3 quotes and would like to try and avoid "national" companies if at all possible.

My long term plan is to switch to air to air, so that would have to be taken into consideration in the design.

Any recs appreciated, thank you 🙏

iCloud folder icon

Hi, I'm not sure if this is possible, and it is purely aesthetic but bugging me, but I've added my iCloud Drive to the dock as shown in the screenshot and it provides quick access to my files (ie. I can click it and pick the document I need) but it doesn't have an icon like the Gdrive and Downloads as, is there a way I can change this icon? I've tried the usual routes but for some reason won't work, hoping there's a hack I can use. Thank you.

Hi, is there any way to get rid of this? I'm using macOS Safari extension and via the button and remove an element I can click anything?

"Inherited" a CCTV system

Hi, my house I've just moved into has a cctv system already installed:

The NVR is DS-7608NI-K1 / 8P

2x Hikvision Cameras - working fine (set up with Hikvision protocol)

2 other cameras set up in the NVR as ONVIF:

Thankfully, I had all the passwords so using SADPTool/Herovision search tool shows these as just an IPC POE cameras, with no further model number.

They are 5MP fixed turret cameras, running firmware 3516D_OS05A10_B1T1A1M0C1_W_9.1.12.5

Unfortunately the cameras are installed on the gable end of the roof, and extremely hard to access, so I can't get a model number from the physical camera.

One of the cameras has a Mac address of 00:00:1B:26:3C:51, and having given it an IP address when I try and directly login to it I get asked to download hswebplugin.zip but it's a dead link (and probably won't work as I have safari/firefox)

I was hoping to find a model number so I could see if there was any newer firmware. I contacted the previous owner of the property and he said that these did show originally as Hikvision cameras, but somewhere along the way they were factory reset and now showing as the above!

Is there any way of putting the Hikvision firmware back on these, though I'm not quite sure what the benefit of doing so.

Thanks for your help

What's your daily water usage? Welsh Water reckons on 100L per person per day

Took a closer look at my recent water bill, which is now almost £500 for 6 months. I know the cost per m3 has gone up, I'm focusing solely on usage.

I'm sure in the past average water usage was calculated as 150L per person per day, but now Welsh Water seems to think the average is 100L (!)

Family of 3, we are using 190L per person day, I work from home so need to take a pee every 2 hours or so. Wife works 3 days a week so there's that too. We do have rainfall (overhead) showers so that may account for it. I went out today and did a leak test (checked water meter reading over an hour whilst not using any taps or toilets), no leaks as far as I can see, am I just using far too much water?

Just looking for a realistic usage figure 🤷

Is this a pressure reducing valve on my stop tap

And do I need to adjust it?

Hi everyone, I live in a house on three floors, the top floor has a bathroom shower fed by the combi boiler (Worcester 550cdi) on the ground floor. When I run the shower, I can hear banging, and the water coming out of the shower head has minor “pulsing” is the best way I can describe it, but only until the water becomes hot; and then it stops. Just wondering if the pressure is too low 🤷‍♂️
