someone with real nonprofit-building experience... want to be a thought partner for a new tiger sanctuary in Vietnam?

someone with real nonprofit-building experience... want to be a thought partner for a new tiger sanctuary in Vietnam?

sharing this one because it's a bit different from the usual... it's a senior strategy role, and the person behind it is genuinely interesting.

they're building a sanctuary for tigers rescued from Vietnam's tiger farms, plus doing broader work on wildlife welfare, vet capacity, and conservation in the country. It's early days but not vague-early... there's funding secured for a feasibility study, and they've already got advisors covering vet medicine, tiger husbandry, government relations, and conservation.

the founder's spent 25+ years in animal welfare and conservation, ten of them as Country Director for the biggest international NGO in Vietnam. so they don't need someone to write a strategy for them. what they want is someone to think alongside them... ask the awkward questions, push back on assumptions, help turn a big ambitious idea into something that actually holds up.

practically, that could mean working through the mission and long-term goals, building out a Theory of Change, figuring out the real risks and decision points, and mapping a realistic path from where things are now to actual rescue operations.

it's the kind of thing that'd suit you if you've founded or run a nonprofit before and you're the type who'd rather poke holes in an idea than just agree with it.

rough details: about 3–8 hrs/week, over 2–12 months, and they're based in Vietnam (UTC+7) so some timezone overlap helps. more on the project here: https://thetigersanctuary.org/

They walked 207 miles for the beagles. Can you give them 1–2 hours?

This September, hundreds of people are walking from Albany to Marshall BioResources... the largest breeder of dogs for lab testing in the country, where ~16,000 beagles are still waiting in cages.

It's called the March to Abolish Animal Testing, and it's building on the same wave that just freed 2,000+ beagles in the Ridglan rescue this spring.

They've been filming interviews with rescuers along the way... the people fighting to get these dogs out. Right now those clips are just sitting there. They need someone who can turn raw footage into videos that actually make people stop scrolling and feel it.

That's where you come in. If you can edit video, you can help these stories reach the people who need to see them.

The ask is small and real: -Trim interview footage into social-ready clips

  • ~1–2 hrs/week, remote, work at your own pace -Every video is a chance to move someone from "I didn't know" to "I can't look away"

You don't have to march 207 miles. You just have to help make sure the people who did aren't shouting into the void.

Are you a plant-based cook who wants restaurants to stop treating vegan food like an afterthought? We could use you.

(Heads up: this is a volunteer role, unpaid. Sharing it here because it's a fun one.)

Most restaurants that "have a vegan option" have one sad thrown-together plate that needs six substitutions and still tastes like a side dish. That's the exact thing that keeps people thinking plant-based food is boring. We're a small Seattle group (Animal Project Buddies) trying to fix that from the restaurant side.

The project: we're building a resource that helps real restaurants add plant-based dishes that actually work for their kitchen, their cuisine, and their inventory. Not "here's a tofu scramble," more like recipes and guidance that fit how a working kitchen actually operates.

What you'd help with:

-Curate and add recipes across different cuisines and styles -Reach out to local restaurants to learn what's actually stopping them from adding more plant-based options -Jump in on other parts of the project wherever your skills fit

Good fit if you have professional cooking experience or know your way around plant-based recipes, plus basic comfort with docs and spreadsheets. Bonus if you've got a marketing or business brain, or if you happen to know a restaurant owner who'd let us pick their brain.

Time-wise it's flexible, around 3 to 8 hours a week, ongoing, remote (we're UTC-7).

Experienced UX/UI designer wanted to help build software for animal sanctuaries (unpaid, long-term)

Vegan Hacktivists is building software that helps animal sanctuaries manage day-to-day care — feeding schedules, cleaning logs, volunteer coordination — so caregivers spend less time on admin and more time with the animals.

We're looking for an experienced UX/UI designer to take ownership of the design direction. A lot of groundwork is already done (UX flows and brand direction are largely set), so you'd be building on a solid foundation rather than starting cold — though there's real room to shape and improve it. You'd work closely with our Product Design Director, who'll be around to advise, but you'd be driving the vision.

Good fit if you:

Have 3+ years designing web apps (mobile a plus) Can produce polished, high-fidelity mockups Know how to take user research and turn it into thoughtful UX for a system with a lot of moving parts Want to own a project long-term, not just contribute pieces

This is a longer commitment (2-12 months, 3-8 hrs/week) for someone who wants their work to have staying power — this tool will be used by sanctuaries worldwide.

Volunteer opportunity: visuals for cultivated meat advocacy video series (unpaid, ~1-2 hrs/week)

Clean Meat Alliance is producing YouTube interviews with cultivated meat and alt-protein researchers — the kind of content that helps make the science of animal-free meat accessible to a wider audience. Right now the videos need visual help to really land: think AI-generated visuals or your own animation work layered into the interviews.

Small time ask (1-2 hrs/week) over a short window (1-8 weeks), so it's a good fit if you want to contribute skills without a long-term commitment.

Good fit if you're into: AI video tools, animation, or just want a low-lift way to support alt-protein advocacy work.

Volunteer video editors wanted, help get more companies to offer plant-based meals to employees :)

Hey r/vegan! I'm posting on behalf of Plant Based Future, a small org working to get companies to offer plant-based options to employees (even just one day a week makes a dent in animal ag suffering + helps companies hit ESG goals).

We're looking for 1-2 people who know their way around video editing/AI video tools to help us make 2 short videos showing companies why this matters. These'll go out on LinkedIn, YouTube, our site, and directly to companies we're pitching.

What you'd actually be doing:

Turning our impact data/story into a compelling 1-2 min video

Basic animation or AI-video tools to bring it to life

Editing footage/graphics into something polished enough to send to corporate decision-makers

The details:

Unpaid volunteer role

3-8 hrs/week, 1-8 weeks total

Timezone: UTC-7 (flexible-ish)

Apply by Aug 7, 2026

If you've got video editing chops and want your skills to directly move the needle on getting animals off menus at scale, this is a solid one to apply your talent to.

Help make alt-protein research videos more watchable (AI video or animation, ~1-2 hrs/week)

Clean Meat Alliance makes YouTube interviews with cultivated meat & alt-protein researchers — genuinely interesting science, but like most interview content, it needs some visual love to keep people watching.

Looking for someone who can jump in with either AI-generated video or their own animation to add visuals that make these conversations pop — think explainer-style graphics, motion elements, whatever fits your style. Pretty open creative brief here, they're not looking for a specific house style, just want the science to feel more alive on screen.

Good fit if you:

  • Mess around with AI video tools (Runway, Pika, etc.) or do animation as a hobby/side skill
  • Like the idea of a very low-commitment volunteer gig — this is 1-2 hrs/week, so easy to fit around other stuff
  • Care about the alt-protein space and want a lightweight way to contribute
  • ⏱️ ~1-2 hrs/week, 1-8 weeks
  • 🌎 Timezone: UTC-7
  • 📅 Apply by July 22

WordPress volunteer needed! Help a vegan nutrition educator in Japan level up her site 🌱

Hey folks! There's a small vegan nutrition & lifestyle project based in Japan (itadakihealthy) looking for some WordPress help — they're doing genuinely good work making plant-based living more approachable in Japan (education, resources, and pushing back on animal treatment norms there too).

Their site's already up and running, they just need someone to help polish it — think of it as an upgrade, not a rebuild. Specifically:

-Fixing up their WooCommerce shop (linked to Spreadshirt) -Giving the blog a cleaner, more modern layout -Adding a contact form + newsletter signup -Slotting in 4 new pages (content's already written, just needs to go in)

They use Elementor, so ideally you've got experience there and a good sense of WordPress performance/site health.

Heads up, this is unpaid volunteer work... but it's a solid short-term project if you want something concrete for your portfolio while helping a mission-driven small business.

⏱️ ~3-8 hrs/week, 1-8 weeks total 🌏 Timezone: UTC+9 (Japan) 📅 Apply by July 17

If this sounds like your kind of project, you can check it out and apply here: https://flockwork.org/requests/m756xguzl119r6rguogo28v6?

Help bring plant-based products into more workplaces (1-2 hrs/week, fully remote ) 🌱

Ever wished your office had vegan options at events instead of the usual catering defaults? Clean Meat Alliance is working to change that from the inside... by building relationships with people at tech companies who can help bring plant-based tastings, demos, and awareness events right into their workplaces.

📌 This is an unpaid volunteer role... but a genuinely flexible, low-lift one.

Here's what it actually involves:

-Reaching out to potential contacts at tech companies (intros provided, see below) via email or LinkedIn

-Checking in periodically with existing contacts to see what's coming up at their company (a game launch, an all-hands, an office event) where a tasting or sticker/poster drop might fit

-Keeping simple notes on who you've talked to and what's been planned, so the team has visibility

-Occasionally helping coordinate logistics for an event once a liaison says yes (e.g., connecting them with whoever's sending materials)

What you're NOT doing: cold-calling strangers with no support, designing materials, or managing events solo. This is relationship-building and light coordination... think "friendly point person," not "project manager."

Why this matters:

Workplaces are a huge, underused channel for normalizing plant-based eating. Every tasting or sticker campaign a liaison hosts puts plant-based food in front of people who might never seek it out otherwise — low-pressure, high-visibility advocacy.

The details:

⏱️ 1-2 hours/week. Mostly emails/messages, no rigid schedule 🌍 Remote, ongoing 🛠️ Skills needed: comfortable writing friendly outreach messages and following up consistently. No tech, sales, or corporate background required. 🤝 You won't be doing this solo. Current/former tech employees on our board help identify and warm-intro potential contacts, so you're not cold-starting 📅 Apply by July 15

If you like relationship-building, enjoy a low-key ongoing project, and want tangible animal advocacy outcomes without a huge time commitment, this could be a great fit.

We're building software to help animal sanctuaries — and we need a UI/UX designer to own it 🌱

Hey r/vegans! We're Vegan Hacktivists, a volunteer-run tech collective building tools for the animal advocacy movement. One of our current projects is a sanctuary management platform — think feeding schedules, care logs, volunteer coordination — designed to help sanctuary workers spend less time on admin and more time with the animals.

We're looking for a UI/UX designer to take ownership of the design and see it through to launch. This isn't a "help out occasionally" role — it's a real opportunity to lead something meaningful.

What you'd be doing:

  • Owning the UX and UI direction of the project
  • Creating high-fidelity mockups for a web app used by sanctuary caregivers
  • Collaborating with our Product Design Director (who stays on as advisor/support)
  • Applying existing user research to refine and build out the interface
  • Working within an established brand system (so the foundations are already there)

You'd be a great fit if you:

  • Have ~3+ years designing web apps
  • Care about making tools that are genuinely easy and pleasant to use
  • Want your work to have a concrete, lasting impact for animals
  • Are looking for something to own, not just contribute to

The commitment: 3–8 hours/week, long-term (2–12 months). Remote & async-friendly.

This is a volunteer role with Vegan Hacktivists — if you've ever wanted to put your design skills toward something that matters to you, this is it.
