Design & Multimedia Volunteer Needed! Kickstarter Video Creator for Animal-Focused Mobile Game

Organization: Clean Meat Alliance

Description: We are looking for a creative volunteer to help produce a polished Kickstarter video for Foggy Farm, an upcoming cozy mobile game designed to support farmed animal sanctuaries and alternative protein innovation.

Inspired by impact-driven games like Treat: Play and Impact Real Animals, Foggy Farm combines engaging gameplay with real-world impact for animals. The game aims to help fund sanctuary animals and organizations working toward alternatives to factory farming, while remaining accessible and appealing to a broad audience.

We have already made significant progress toward our alpha build and are now preparing for our Kickstarter campaign launch. We’re looking for someone who can help bring the project to life through a professional and compelling campaign video.

You’ll receive access to the current game build and collaborate directly with the team to shape the public-facing launch of the project.

What we’re looking for:

  • Video editing
  • Trailer pacing/storytelling
  • Motion graphics or simple animation (optional but appreciated)
  • Subtitles/text overlays
  • Ability to create a polished Kickstarter-style presentation

Why join?

  • Gain portfolio material from a mission-driven game project
  • Collaborate on the launch of a socially impactful campaign
  • Help support animals through creative storytelling and media

Duration: Short-term (1-8 weeks)

Est. time commitment: 3-8 hours per week

Timezone: UTC-7 preferred

Web Development & IT volunteer needed! Fullstack Support for Helping Restaurants Transition to Plantbased Options

**Organization:** Animal Project Buddies

**Description:** Motivation:

Sometimes, it feels like a lot of restaurants don't have good vegan options (i.e., thrown-together last-minute, requiring a LOT of substitutions/requests). Menu items like this perpetuate the stigma that vegan / plant-based food doesn't taste good, and substitutions/requests raise the barrier-to-entry for plant-based eating.

Goals:

Build out the prototype a bit more robustly to get this done :)

  1. Clean up the recipes and data to be of higher quality (i.e. restaurant-grade)

  2. Consider a pipeline to scrape for high-quality recipes (i.e. based on likes, source, etc.)

  3. Move the recipes/menus to the backend instead of being self-hosted on Vercel

Suggestions:

  1. Be familiar with frontend web development (i.e. know how to use React/TS)

  2. Have an appetite to learn!

  3. Be excited to help out!

  4. Any backend or development (i.e. using AI workflows) is a huge plus!

**Duration:** Long-term (2-12 months)

**Est. time commitment:** 3-8 hours per week

**Timezone:** UTC-7

**Skills Required:** Basic web development

**Application Deadline:** 06/30/2026

Leadership & Operations volunteer needed! Project Manager: help us coordinate the build of a sanctuary management platform

**Organization:** Vegan Hacktivists

**Description:** We’re building a web-based, open-source platform to help animal sanctuaries run more smoothly. Developers and designers are already coming together, and now we need someone to help keep things organized.

We’re looking for a Project Manager (volunteer) who can support the team in delivering the next phase of this tool — a user-friendly UI on top of a powerful database.

You’ll help with:

Coordinating across developers, designers, and advisors.

Organizing tasks, tracking progress, and keeping momentum.

Helping set timelines and milestones (with input from the team).

You don’t need to gather requirements directly from sanctuaries — we already have a clear picture of what’s needed.

Whether you’re a technical PM familiar with Agile tools or more of a coordinator who enjoys keeping people on track, we’d love your help.

This is a chance to guide a global-impact project that will be used by sanctuaries around the world.

**Duration:** Long-term (2-12 months)

**Est. time commitment:** 3-8 hours per week

**Timezone:** UTC+1

**Skills Required:** Project Management, Team management, Self starter

**Application Deadline:** 06/10/2026

Design & Multimedia volunteer needed! Experienced UI/UX: Help design the future of sanctuary software

**Organization:** Vegan Hacktivists

**Description:** We’re building a platform that will transform how animal sanctuaries care for their residents. Imagine a tool where caregivers can easily track feeding, cleaning, volunteer schedules, and more — freeing up time and energy for the animals themselves.

We’re looking for an experienced UI/UX designer to help us bring this vision to life. You’ll work to forward and own the UX vision of this project, creating high fidelity mockups that make the system intuitive and delightful to use.

You’ll take over the project from our Product Design Director (who will be on hand to advise), owning the UX and UI. This is an exciting project with a wide scope that will have a big impact. Much of the UX and UI has been thought through, so you won’t be starting from scratch (though you are welcome to alter it!).

The brand vision has also largely been completed - so it’s a matter of ensuring it is applied effectively.

You’ll be a great fit if you:

Have at least 3 years experience designing web apps (mobile experience a bonus).

Can produce high-quality visual mockups.

Care deeply about usability and want to make tools that matter.

Can analyse user research, and apply it to the design of web apps with many moving parts

Are excited to not just contribute, but own a project, and see it through to fruition

This is an opportunity to shape a tool that will be used by sanctuaries worldwide — and be part of a team building something for the long run.

**Duration:** Long-term (2-12 months)

**Est. time commitment:** 3-8 hours per week

**Timezone:** UTC+1

**Skills Required:** Design, UX, UI

**Application Deadline:** 30/05/2025

Design & Multimedia volunteer needed! Video Maker for Professional Kickstarter Video

Organization: Clean Meat Alliance

Description: Our main current focus (and grant application target) is to find unconventional funding for alternative proteins through a new medium: games. A successful mobile game, Treat: Play and Impact Real Animals, works by sending chewy shipments to companion animal shelters as the user plays. We are building a similar application called Foggy Farm that funds sanctuary animals, with the goal of siphoning a significant amount of revenue to cultivated meat research and other effective animal charities (GFI, Innovate Animal Ag, etc.). Since the game is mass appeal, the focus won’t directly be on meat or factory farming, but rather serve as a way to support sanctuaries and alternative protein research simultaneously.

We have made significant progress towards our alpha in Foggy Farm. We wish to continue that momentum by starting a Kickstarter campaign for the project, which requires a well filmed video. We will walk you through the current game, and provide you access so you can play around. The goal is to make a professional looking Kickstarter video, that will help initiate our campaign.

Duration: Short-term (1-8 weeks)

Est. time commitment: 3-8 hours per week

Timezone: UTC-7

Skills Required: Animation, Video editing, Subtitles

Application Deadline: 06/01/2026

Organization: Sharpen Strategy

Description: UX Product Design Strategist RFP Culture Change Indicators (CCI) Dashboard for the US Farmed Animal Advocacy Movement

The project We're helping US farmed animal advocacy leaders make better strategic decisions by giving them a shared, data-informed picture of how culture is shifting. Our MVP dashboard tracks 25+ indicators across six domains, currently built in Looker, with a public launch planned for July 2026. The indicators draw on a mix of public polling, market and industry data, media tracking, and original survey research. You'll work directly with movement leaders to shape how they engage with the data. This is a human-centered design process. The right designer will deeply understand user needs, goals, and context before arriving at a solution. This is a deliverable-based contract engagement, ideal for a freelancer or small studio.

The problem The dashboard works as a data repository but not yet as an experience. Key tensions: Some users want high-level takeaways, others want to explore data in depth. Both types of users are still having to work for their info. It's not clear whether this should be a dashboard, an infographic, a narrative data experience, or a hybrid. We want to simplify info and “time from entry to insight” while also allowing for people to review the indicators in connection to each other. We have five rounds of stakeholder feedback and strong engagement from funders and movement leaders. What we lack is someone with the expertise to structure that feedback, test directions with users, and tell us where to go.

What we need Collaborate with our team to develop 3-5 prototype directions. These will represent distinct approaches (e.g., narrative storytelling, interactive dashboard, static annual report, hybrid). We'll use rapid prototyping tools (including AI-assisted wireframing) to create these together. Conduct user interviews with movement leaders. Test prototype directions with senior nonprofit leaders who are the primary users of this tool. Synthesize findings into a clear strategic recommendation. Define user types and journeys, recommend format and platform, and deliver a UX brief with directional wireframes. Evaluate technical feasibility. Assess the tradeoffs between approaches, including maintenance burden, ease of annual updates, and what level of development each direction requires. Provide clear guidance on what kind of developer or builder would be needed to execute. Present findings and recommendations to the project team, including suggestions for how to move from strategy to execution (developer handoff, platform choice, build approach). Deliverables must support a July 2026 public launch, which includes time for development after your handoff.

Who you are Requirements 5+ years in human-centered design, with 3+ on data products or dashboards 2+ years managing your own client engagements (freelance, independent consulting, or equivalent) Experience designing for senior leaders and understanding their decision-making needs Ability to lead the process independently, including defining research questions, structuring user interviews, evaluating prototype directions, and driving toward a clear recommendation Ideal fit
Experience working with nonprofit or mission-driven leaders, especially in farmed animal welfare, plant-based, or related movements Comfort with rapid prototyping tools and concept testing Familiarity with BI/data platforms (Looker, Tableau, or similar) Experience designing for multiple user types within one product Experience collaborating with data engineers on technical feasibility

Compensation This is a project-based engagement with a fixed fee per phase, paid on milestone completion. We've benchmarked this role at approximately $80–$110/hr for a US-based senior UX strategist. We welcome candidates from any location and will adjust compensation based on regional market rates while maintaining equity across the engagement. Scope and final budget will be defined together during the interview process.

Interested? Submit your proposal. Proposals reviewed on a rolling basis, with a preference for earlier proposals. Questions? Contact Parker Do, parker@sharpenstrategy.org.

About the Culture Change Indicators (CCI) Project CCI tracks indicators of culture change related to farmed animals in the US, drawing on public polling, market data, media tracking, and original survey research. The goal is to give movement leaders a shared, evidence-based picture of how culture is shifting so they can make better strategic decisions and coordinate more effectively. The project began in early 2024 with 20+ movement leaders and has been refined through multiple rounds of stakeholder feedback, in partnership with Bryant Research and reviewed by Faunalytics.

About Sharpen Strategy Sharpen Strategy supports the farmed animal protection movement through organizational consulting, leadership development, strategic planning, and movement-level research. We provide free and subsidized support to organizations, advocates, and funders working to improve the lives of farmed animals. Our team brings deep experience from within the movement, including leadership roles at The Humane League, and years of nonprofit strategy consulting and international development.

Duration: Long-term (2-12 months)

Est. time commitment: 9+ hours per week

Timezone: UTC-7

Skills Required: user research, ux strategy, concept testing, information architecture, data visualization, wireframing, stakeholder interviews, AI coding tools
