Got a little disappointed with my campaign [Stonewalkers]

Yeah, I just finished the 13th session of a stonewalkers campaign as a player.

We're level 3 and our GM made us fight with Liss, a duelist shardbearer. I'm a GM to other tables, so I know that we're very under level for this fight.

I mean, it was going to be a rough fight, but feasible, no?

Yeah, my GM doubled her HP from 40 to 80, gave her +1 (+7 total) in her first attacks (then changed back to +6 later), made her have 18 in every defense, made her a boss (fast and slow turn) and invented traits for her.

Yep. We got destroyed, until he started to make dumb plays on purpose to give us a chance (like slapping us instead of using the shardblade).

My character got a permanent injury, there were at least 3 other injuries of 20+ days.

When I got downed, I just opened Death Stranding and started playing while half listening, clearly upset. FYI, this was going to be a big moment for my character, and I got downed in one hit and basically didn't play at all the whole session.

I was going to wait and talk with the GM 1 to 1 after the session, but by the end of it he kept repeating how bad he felt that I fell in one hit (and I mean repeatedly. at least 6 times he said this).

I decided to call him out and listed every single thing I noticed it was odd or strange on the sheet, and his response was always "but I just tweaked a little. that's the only thing a changed". every. fucking. change. yeah, got repetitive.

By the end of it, I said how I just didn't have any fun and that's ok, it was a bad session. He said "sorry, I guess I did it wrong".

It wasn't a cool, glorious victory. It was a massacre, then he let us get the win. Not earned at all. Given. Just what we want to feel in a heroic campaign, huh?

I'm still pretty upset, disappointed and disillusioned with the whole campaign.

Mind you, I'm just venting, this is fresh. I might feel different tomorrow. I might be too immature to see it from another angle today.

I would appreciate some advice, though. I like the other players a lot, but I just feel the GM doesn't make choices I would make very often. I don't want to quit the campaign for this, but shit, I would be lying if I said that didn't cross my mind.

Anyway, sorry about the long rant.

TL;DR: GM made us fight an overleveled fight and buffed the enemy even more. Didn't felt like a win at all. He let us do it and we got badly injured for it. The whole party was kind of bummed.

Struggling with PCs Objectives

I'm playing in a Stonewalkers campaign (as a PC) and the group is kind of struggling with the objectives.

We played something like 12 sessions, and since then, we just completed one group objective, and gained some points with some personal ones.

I suggested that we go over every objective of every PC at the end of the session, so we can see organically what progresses. But I don't know how this is going to work out.

That said, I'm a little worried about the recommendation the book gives of "at least one objective milestone for session". Are you guys following this advice from the book?

What if it's a big and long objective? The milestones take longer to be obtained? Or the speed is the same, but the objective is not completed, but broken down in others small objectives?

Do all objectives come with a reward?

Please, enlighten me. How are you guys handling the objectives at your tables?

Shardblades are way more deadly to NPCs than to PCs. Is that right?

Did I get that right?

  • NPCs don't get to use the deadly trait as the players do.
  • NPCs don't use the special shardblade injury table

The \"shardblade\" in the NPC sheet is mostly descriptive.

I mean, I totally get why they did it this way. It's no fun for your hero to be slaughered by a single nat 20 and an unlucky injury roll.

I just want to make sure I didn't lost anything.

That said, the high base damage + dangerous narrative is something to be afraid of, as a player.

Duelist and Elite Shardbeareres with wrong attacks

It's kind of a silly mistake, but they did the average hit wrong for the shardblade attack. The 22 is actually the maximum damage for this attack. The correct average is 15.

The elite Shardbearer also has the same 22 for an average hit, even though they should have 4 points of damage more than the duelists (19).

Didn't spot any mention of that in this sub, so thought it was worth mentioning.

Can't run Stonewalkers, don't want to homebrew, help!

I've been having an absolute blast playing as a player in a Stonewalkers campaign. But I've been wanting to run a longer adventure for a separate group of friends.

I've already run the Bridge Nine one-shot as a test run, but I want something more, like a proper mini-campaign or a solid multi-session arc rather than just a tutorial.

The tricky part is: I'm currently playing through Stonewalkers, so I don't want any spoilers. I've read the stormlight novels, but building a full campaign from scratch tends to drain me and leads to burnout.

So, are there any standout non-official/community-made modules you'd recommend? Alternatively, is there an order you'd suggest for running official side-content?

If you've run something great, please drop the name or a link below. I'm all ears!

Tô aberto a dicas, críticas e sugestões.

What are some perks you miss from [KCD1] that you think should be in [KCD2]?

Mine are those, despite knowing there are some "substitutes" in the second game.

That said, I do think the perks on KCD2 are way better than the ones on the first game, a lot less broken (for better or worse) too.

Am I read for the wedding? [KCD2]

Guys, I don't think there's much more to do here 😭

All the quests are done, all the treasure maps (that I found) were collected. I think it's time... Wish me luck.

(I know there's probably some little things left to do, but I manage to do all that seemed interesting on the map, so I'll go ahead and start the game for real.)
