Two wide open TDs. What has happened to our defense?

I thought we were supposed to have one of the best defenses in the country. And they actually kept us in the USC and Minnesota games.

But these wide open TDs that we just gave up remind me of Tyrone Willingham’s defense.

Sounders’ payroll is less than the MLS average

I did an analysis using the MLS player salary data set. The Sounders’ payroll is about $19 million. The MLS average and median are both about $20 million.

The problem:

  1. Our FO is unbelievably cheap.
  2. We have key players hurt (PDLV, Roldan)

The result is a 4-0 (as of now) thrashing by Portland at home.

We overperform each season because our academy is good. (EDIT: We also overperform because Schmetzer is an amazing coach.)

But if we don’t pay up, we’ll fall behind.

Why is the Hawks’ nest empty during Sounders matches?

Are we not selling seats there because of the upcoming World Cup, or are we just not selling tickets there anymore?

Nearly everywhere I went in Central Europe, I was asked for a tip

Just got back from a trip to Prague, Vienna, and Budapest. Nearly every restaurant I went, I was either explicitly asked for a tip or given the option to provide one on the credit card reader.

Instead of ending tipping, we’re getting far more of it. Waiters in Prague were especially aggressive at pointing out that service was not included.
