Watching the dvd features makes me realize just how close danny pudi and alison brie really are.

I now understand why later seasons and stories paired them together. Their chemistry in the goofy outtakes and gag reels is unmatched, as well as just general behind-the-scenes type videos.

I mean I already love danny pudi in a lot of the post Community stuff he's done, from unappreciated shows like Powerless to heavily praised shows like Mythic Quest especially season 1. No longer constrained by being Abed, he is hilarious in those other shows.

And Alison Brie is of course great. But yeah I assumed that the younger cast members would be closer with each other, but didn't know just how much and the extra featurettes of Community really showcased that.

I found out today that Disney's 2008 movie Bolt was actually a critical darling, and it's kinda blowing my mind right now

https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/bolt

Over 90% of critics liked the movie? That's kinda unexpected. Though I do remember thinking the plot, while clearly children oriented, was actually kinda neat in a way.

But yeah the only thing I remember about it is that it has a sort of middling box office performance, not too bad not the best. And since it starred Travolta who was in the limelight again for that short stint in the 2000s like in hairspray, as well as miley cyrus who was rapidly exploding in teen popularity.

It's surprising because I found it similar to meet the Robinsons which also had the concept of an idea, but was ultimately just an average slightly forgettable movie, so to see critics like one more so than the other makes me wonder.

What I love about hipster Ryan era is how Kelly so often calls him out on stuff

Like Ryan is saying some eyeroll worthy rubbish about "the institution of marriage" when the office is talking about Angela marrying a gay senator, nay a state senator and Kelly is like "ok but we're not talking about that right now this isn't about that"

And little stuff like that. Like hipster Ryan is hilarious, I love unabashedly pretentious characters, but I particularly love said characters being called out by others. Always cracks me up

Pam calls him out on stuff all the time too, but Pam has always hated him. Kelly doing it, who used to be obsessed with him and constantly takes his mistreatment of their relationship, is the cherry on top.

OK so The Residence is fantastic and Netflix might just be the mvp for murder mystery type shows and content

Having watched Clue and Murder by Death recently, loving the former and enjoying the latter, seeing The Residence instilled in me the same feeling of love I got watching murder mystery movies, with The Residence being a modern take on the genre, played straight while still being comedic and incredible, rather than pure farcical like the 2 awesome movies I mentioned. Great characters, great humor, fantastically written, and unlike certain other shows, it comes together in the end brilliantly.

Basically a murder takes place in the white house, during a state dinner no less, and the show is about solving it, by the detective played brilliantly by Uzo Aduba (of orange is the new black fame) while also dealing with the inherent bureaucracy that comes with the murder having happened in such a location.

I really loved how its in the same spirit of classic type murder mysteries but done oh so well, and if this is what netflix puts our money into creating, then I would be oh so happy to get more stellar content like that.

Boy, Andy and Erin are straight up TIRESOME to watch huh, especially on multiple rewatches of the show.

They really thought we were rooting for them like Jim and Pam, or Jim and Dwight.

Season 6 when they got together and quickly broke up, I was always annoyed at the arcade episode scene with Andy, it was cringey. Then Erin breaks up with Andy because of lol Angela. That was funny.

Then beginning of season 7 Andy likes Erin but Erin doesn't have feelings for him anymore and likes Gabe now. Then end of season 7 Erin has feelings for Andy but Andy pretends not to have feelings for her anymore.

Then season 8 rinse and repeat, then some weirdness.

Then they pivoted in season 9 to make Andy a more overt annoying jerk again (he was still annoying in the previous seasons mind you) and had him be "the bad guy"

That being said, what I find interesting is that the age difference between them is actually not that large, just 6 years. That would mean... when they had the annoying jim-wannabe plop in season 9, Erin becomes the cradle robber if they had those 2 pair up lol. It just seemed like Erin was in her 20s while Andy was clearly in his 30s, that made it seem like a significant age difference, but maybe his suits and style just made him look older.

Are the Golden Sun games particularly difficult? And any tips/hints/tricks/general advice?

Now that I have Switch online I'm finally gonna plop down and play through them, and am just curious on the level of difficulty of the games.

Also if there are any exploits or techniques you know of to be overpowered, all are welcome. I heard that djinn aren't missable so I can use a guide to get them all yeah? But without needing to play side by side with a guide/faq/walkthrough.

Interesting. The Superfan episode of season 7 almost hinted at Jordan potentially developing a crush on Jim.

So they had that idea toying around in their head before season 8, of a new female employee getting a crush on jim. Then they expanded on it with Kathy

About to play Darksiders 3, any tips or tricks? Any gamebreaking exploits, things I can take advantage of to have an overwhelmingly unfair advantage over enemies and bosses?

Want to preface this by saying I'm a bit miffed that I asked this same question for Darksiders 2, and was completely shocked at the 2000s esque early internet negative comments that were more concerned with telling me how to enjoy my game, than helping me out with what I asked. Even the ones that did provide advice, nice as that was, seemed more concerned with superfluous deep dives into the mechanics like health steal and wrath steal, which was rather unnecessary when there was literally just one thing everyone in the topic needed to say, something I had to uncover by myself by sheer chance: There's an item duplication glitch that one can use to buy all the items in a shop even if you don't have money. When I searched this, I thought to myself "huh... what if I used this for vulgrim? Could it work?" and lo and behold... it does! I was like "no way... could I then do...?" and sure enough, I found I could completely abuse this glitch to buy an infinite amount of possessed weapons, more than I could even carry, and could experiment until I found a scythe that I could add the abilities strength, critical chance, and critical damage on there. While simultaneously using the drop method to level that weapon up near infinitely. I leveled that possessed scythe so high that the game literally could not keep up with the stats anymore and showed an "undefined" on the weapon's stats lol. I stopped after and tested it out and... I was literally one-hit killing enemies left and right, attacking for 3000-4000 damage throughout the entire game. By the end, I was hitting for 5k damage! It was extremely fun, combat was no longer the hassle I suspected it was going to be the further and deeper I got into the game, meaning I could enjoy the prince of persia style platforming and dungeon puzzles without feeling like battles are a chore, but rather a fun way to break up the dungeon rooms and give me a chance to see the enemies literally crumble before my scythes. I couldn't believe how fun it was, and made my Darksiders 2 experience hella enjoyable, way more than 1. It was extremely gratifying going through gauntlets that I wasn't "supposed" to go through yet and just blazing through enemies. Love that kinda stuff.

And the fact that no one in the sub mentioned this amazing exploit in my topic at all, made me realize for my next topic, I really needed to set the tone for what I was looking for. So on to Darksiders 3:

This is the game I've been dreading, due to the mixed reception and apparent influence from a subset genre I don't play nor like. I played both Darksiders 1 and 2, and I enjoyed both. I particularly enjoyed 2 due to the ridiculously amazing exploit I uncovered. Is there anything in the same vein with Darksiders 3? If not, general tips and tricks would also be appreciated.

Is Pinocchio the only Disney movie where the bad guys never receive their comeuppance?

While a good metacommentary retroactively looking back at the movie as an adult, about how there are simply evil people in this world who will never face justice, so it's up to young boys themselves to be wary and steer clear and go to school, I'm trying to go through the library of Disney movies to see if anyone of the other villains also not only not face punishment, but pretty much get away with everything scotfree and most likely it's implied they continue doing what they do.

Particularly interesting that it's Disney's second movie, and it's the movie that introduced and popularized the wishing thing.

Huh. Well... I finished season 7. Finally finished the series.

That was... well that was something. I find it interesting that it didn't end with a finality, it seemed like they could have gone for a season 8. I don't know why I had it in my head that Buffy was gonna "die for real this time" or that her sacrifice is how ALL the slayers get their powers, or something like that, but nope, it's the all-convenient axe thing being not only a great demon killing weapon, but also a great power transferring weapon. I guess that might as well happen.

It's been roughly 1 year since I started the series, from the very beginning, being blown away by how it all started, as someone who grew up with the show but never got to actually watch most of it. So seeing it throughout season 1 through 4, and 5, especially the characters, how they started, it was just such a great experience.

There are a lot of things that bother me, stuff that I've wanted to make a topic about on here but never did, because discussing season by season, episode by episode, feels like I might fill up the entire sub, since there's so much to discuss in terms of my thoughts and feelings for what happens, the good the bad the ugly.

But ultimately, it was a series I was glad to finally get to see for real this time, and almost 20 years later it holds up well despite hiccups here and there

Erm... is falcom really out here charging $150 for Ys 10 Proud Nordics ultimate edition?

Because that is... that is pretty wild. I was perusing the ps5 store and remembered that ys 10 got a re-release, making me glad I waited, and since I finally beat 9 in the beginning of the year, thought about checking what is available.

But that price really took me by surprise, and it doesn't even have like, gameplay content type dlc it seems to be just a whole bunch of item packs. So that really shocked me. Its a huge leap from i think Ys 9 being... $80 with the extra content?

After finally watching the 2 shows from start to finish over the last year, catching all the episodes I missed from when I was a preteen, on a journey that really puts into perspective the phrase "its all about the journey, not the destination" because I absolutely loved the wild ride that was buffy and angel. But at the same time, the abrupt nature of their endings, Angel even more so than Buffy, makes me wonder if they simply didn't know how to end it.

These shows are defined by how much they popularized the idea of 4th wall jokes and meta commentary, and having some of the most likable, fleshed out characters in modern tv history. So it makes me wonder if a show built on being self-aware and winking at the audience simply didn't know how to effectively end the show without coming across as the very cliches they tended to lovingly poke fun at.

I still very much would say I like the shows and urge others to experience them, but there is definitely a noticeable difference between the extreme highs I felt during the early seasons of both shows compared to the end of their run, although they still made laugh and had smart writing to the very end.
