Huh. Well... I finished season 7. Finally finished the series.

That was... well that was something. I find it interesting that it didn't end with a finality, it seemed like they could have gone for a season 8. I don't know why I had it in my head that Buffy was gonna "die for real this time" or that her sacrifice is how ALL the slayers get their powers, or something like that, but nope, it's the all-convenient axe thing being not only a great demon killing weapon, but also a great power transferring weapon. I guess that might as well happen.

It's been roughly 1 year since I started the series, from the very beginning, being blown away by how it all started, as someone who grew up with the show but never got to actually watch most of it. So seeing it throughout season 1 through 4, and 5, especially the characters, how they started, it was just such a great experience.

There are a lot of things that bother me, stuff that I've wanted to make a topic about on here but never did, because discussing season by season, episode by episode, feels like I might fill up the entire sub, since there's so much to discuss in terms of my thoughts and feelings for what happens, the good the bad the ugly.

But ultimately, it was a series I was glad to finally get to see for real this time, and almost 20 years later it holds up well despite hiccups here and there

Erm... is falcom really out here charging $150 for Ys 10 Proud Nordics ultimate edition?

Because that is... that is pretty wild. I was perusing the ps5 store and remembered that ys 10 got a re-release, making me glad I waited, and since I finally beat 9 in the beginning of the year, thought about checking what is available.

But that price really took me by surprise, and it doesn't even have like, gameplay content type dlc it seems to be just a whole bunch of item packs. So that really shocked me. Its a huge leap from i think Ys 9 being... $80 with the extra content?

After finally watching the 2 shows from start to finish over the last year, catching all the episodes I missed from when I was a preteen, on a journey that really puts into perspective the phrase "its all about the journey, not the destination" because I absolutely loved the wild ride that was buffy and angel. But at the same time, the abrupt nature of their endings, Angel even more so than Buffy, makes me wonder if they simply didn't know how to end it.

These shows are defined by how much they popularized the idea of 4th wall jokes and meta commentary, and having some of the most likable, fleshed out characters in modern tv history. So it makes me wonder if a show built on being self-aware and winking at the audience simply didn't know how to effectively end the show without coming across as the very cliches they tended to lovingly poke fun at.

I still very much would say I like the shows and urge others to experience them, but there is definitely a noticeable difference between the extreme highs I felt during the early seasons of both shows compared to the end of their run, although they still made laugh and had smart writing to the very end.
