My incremental about self-replicating space probes is ready to be played!
Von Neumann is a hobby/passion project I started a few months ago after listening to the amazing Bobiverse series and felt like it would make a great incremental game because of the natural scaling of self-replicating space probes.
You start with a single damaged probe and gradually improve it while expanding across nearby star systems, harvesting resources, building new and better probes with increased automation and exploring the galaxy... I tried keep it mostly realistic (as the nerd in me enjoys it most) while hopefully not missing out too much on the fun.
It is built in Godot 4.6 and completely free, no ads either. You can play it on
https://veltes.itch.io/von-neumann
Built for Web, Windows, Mac and Linux.
I have played it a lot and think it would be a good moment to get some other perspectives on it, so feedback would be really helpful! You can leave it via the Google Form or check out the newly created discord. Or of course just here in the thread :)
Curious for any ideas or suggestions you might have! Let me know what you think!
AI disclosure: AI was used as coding tool, especially in the beginning of the project and to learn about Godot. Images have been drawn by hand in Inkscape and there is no music in the game yet.
