Who's fish and chips comes out on top in Austin?

Curious as to which restaurant you all believe serves the top fish and chips in Austin? So far I've tried F&C from:

Murray's Tavern

Kelly's Irish Pub

Dead Rabbit

Fish Shop

For Cod's Sake

Schoolhouse Pub

Draught House Pub

I'd say this is my best to worst ranking so far. A friend and I have been on a journey trying out new spots every other week. Where should we go next?

Austin's so 'dog friendly' Uber/Lyft drivers have them in their vehicles now

In the past month I've been in two rides where the driver has their dog in the front passenger seat. Both times the dogs were to themselves, but I have a pet allergy. Neither expressed their pet was with them beforehand nor that it was a service animal. Also, what if turned out I had friends joining me? One was a lap dog, but the last occurrence the dog was large. I didn't report them because I don't want to hinder someone's source of income, but I did block both drivers from ever being connected to me again.

If you drive for Uber/Lyft, please don't do this.

My place of work is operating with an expired food license, what should I do?

I work at an high end restaurant in Austin. I’ve come to find out our restaurant is operating w/ an expired permit to operate a food enterprise.

I’ve search about the consequences of doing so, and learned that once it expires you have to closed entirely until you renew your permit. If you are beyond the grace period of renewal, which is 30 days, you have to apply for a new one from scratch. We are beyond 30 days.

I could simply ask my manager/owner, and maybe we do have the new permit and it’s just not posted on our wall. Or I could point it out and they just now realize and have to start a new process altogether. I want to know if any other owners have been in this situation and does the COA actually give you more a bit more grace to resolve this?

Austin Mayor gaslights a public speaker over a vague $5 million bond payment to a private developer

During yesterday's city council meeting, a speaker noted that an agenda item approved by consent was vague — no developer name, name of the development, or the agreement explaining why $5 million is being paid to the developer.  He asked the board to explain what this item was about, but no one on the board initially spoke up. The speaker spoke again to break the silence, and instead of answering his question, the mayor opted to gaslight him. Towards the end of the meeting, the mayor agreed with the speaker's statements and removed the item from the Agenda.

Agenda (Item #7): https://services.austintexas.gov/edims/document.cfm?id=472241
Video (begin at 4:30): https://austintx.new.swagit.com/videos/386195

What are you all's thoughts on this? Quite concerning for a council that's getting ready to ask us for an over $750 million bond soon...

How long has it been here and why is it always closed? In all my time of going down the trail here I’ve never seen someone upstairs enjoying the view. Could use a good revamp.
