Respecting elders vs being upfront with them
Hi all, 40F here. East Asian background in a western country for context, but all perspectives welcome. Was quite shy in my teens and early twenties. I have realised for a while that while I find it easier to express myself honestly these days with people in my own age bracket and younger, and am more comfortable being open with older people than I was in the past, I still struggle with being open with older friends about things they do that bother me, especially if I knew them when I was younger. How can I move past this? By things that bother me I'm talking about things that make me feel disrespected or cross a certain boundary.
