Tooth extraction, cyst?

Tooth extraction, cyst?

Long story short. Had a root canal and crown done about 4 years ago on tooth 29. Have had on and off pain but x rays never showed anything, would get bite adjusted and pain would go away.

Friday same thing, I clenched badly all week due to stress so assumed was my bite. Seen Saturday x ray didn’t show anything. Referred to endodontist, saw them yesterday and they did a CT of the area (I’m 31 weeks pregnant). He said couldn’t be 100% sure but thinking fractured as there was some translucency and bone loss seen. He said emergency extraction but had the dentist on site do this. When she pulled it she said there was a cyst at the root, I am going to include a photo. I’m now on amoxicillin etc. kept getting unclear answers is there was an infection.

The pain was absolutely unbearable, crying in pain worse than childbirth IMO.

Anyways now that it’s out the pain has subsided a bit, or it’s a more normal soreness now versus the excruciating pain it was.

Anyways, what causes this? She said the root canal failed. Is this something I could have avoided if I had better dental hygiene or something? I have a lot of dental work but I brush 2x daily floss etc. I have other root canals and crowns in my mouth so now I’m nervous this will happen again.

Also I will be getting an implant whenever it is advised post delivery.

Four year old allergy testing

Hello! My four year old has skin testing this upcoming Tuesday with our new allergist/asthma specialist. Trying to figure out if she has environmental allergy triggers that have contributed to some cough variant asthma.

Anyone have any tips or tricks or what we are in for? I had testing done as a kid but was the inside of my arm, I remember hating it but I was older lol.

Four year old cavities

Hi everyone!

Has anyone had to fill cavities on their younger children? My daughter is 4 and has 4 cavities in a matter of 6 months since last exam 😭 anyways they recommended SDF or we can attempt treating with laughing gas or anesthesia. Anesthesia is my last resort, tempted to try with laughing gas but feel super anxious overall.

Has anyone been through this? Any tips or tricks? Was laughing gas a smooth experience for you all? I’ve never personally had so I have no reference but my husband thinks she will do okay with it.

SDF four year old

X ray in comments!

Took my daughter to the dentist today she is 4. She has four cavities and I’m so upset 😞 I had noticed some small black spots on her back bottom four teeth and low and behold that is where her cavities are, she also has two in between the teeth.

Dentist recommended SDF or mentioned we could try laughing gas to treat the cavities but she seemed to think SDF was the better option.

Thoughts on this treatment plan? Or should we attempt laughing gas and filling.

Pink

Due with my second daughter in a few months and am wanting to have a pink lab diamond ring made. Where does everyone source their lab diamonds from? I have no lab diamonds currently so new to this. Looking for a 3 ct oval ideally but not set on specific shade.

Four year olds potential asthma

Hi everyone! Coming here looking for any support etc as I’m having a challenging time with our healthcare providers.

Backstory: I had exercise induced asthma as a child, don’t remember ever having a full blown asthma attack was very managed on inhalers and allergy medicine and eventually grew out of it. My husband never had a diagnose but to this day says his lungs always burned when he ran and they still do- he also gets insanely long lingering coughs.

Anyways, we have a four year old who we had no concerns health wise until she got RSV at 2.5- five night hospitalization for supplemental oxygen, two doses of oral steroids etc whole nine yards. She received albuterol treatments at this time but all respiratory therapists seems inconclusive if they felt the albuterol opened her up at all- she progressively got better after a few days as virus ran its course.

6 months later she was very sick, fever cough runny nose for about a week- cough kept ramping up I could tell it wasn’t quite right she then got a very barky cough and was prescribed oral steroids for croup. Within 12 hours of taking dose her oxygen tanked to low 90s- took her to ER and it came up without intervention and her chest x ray was clear so we discharged. We met with pediatrician who suggested we try Flovent inhalers at the onset of coughs from viral illness as she suspects potential cough variant asthma.

That puts us to end of August, we switched to a much smaller and less frequent pre school, she got through September- March with maybe a few minor colds but nothing that required much intervention. Continued getting kind of mixed answers on when to start the Flovent, is it when she shows any signs of being sick or just the cough etc have also been advised not necessary to start if the cough seems to be post nasal related so none the less it’s been confusing.

Anyways sorry this is so long, since March she has had basically back to back colds, two weeks ago congestion started and within 5-6 days her cough really ramped up, ended up at urgent care who heard some crackles but also said hold off on Flovent doesn’t hear wheezing etc. chest x ray clear, end up back at pediatrician office who I show some videos of her cough and they say it’s very croupy and give her oral steroid dose while in office, cough gets much better but now it’s been almost a week and she’s still coughing a bit at night.

This pediatrician from most recent referred her us to pulmonology- I called and got an apt for Friday then Friday morning they call me cancelling saying they need to cancel and want more testing before being seen but of course when I asked what testing they had no answers and said they’ll review our chart and call me back at some point.

So now I just feel stuck in limbo yet again and feeling so confused. She has never had wheezing which I know doesn’t eliminate possibility of asthma but just something that keeps being mentioned- we have also started her on daily zrytec. I’m kind of just posting to see if anyone has gone through this process with their young kiddos and what typically happens next and even just curious if anyone has a similar situation where it’s not so black and white that it for sure seems like asthma and if not then what.
