PhD Stipend for GWU Environmental Health program

Hey guys! Does anyone know the stipend amount for the Environmental Health program at GWU?

I’m currently a PhD student in Earth Sciences and I have realized that my real passion has always been in Environmental Health. GWU is my top choice since I have a background in science policy and place do a AAAS fellowship after grad school.

Does anyone have any information about the stipend and health insurance benefits? Thanks!

DAE have parents that trigger them without them realizing it?

I have been in recovery for a while and I feel I have been successful. Unfortunately, whenever I go back home, I do relapse on laxatives since my mom has a prevalence for taking them.

The issue is that I feel as if the only time my mom talks to me it’s related to food. Such as “what are you planning to eat? What do you want to eat? Oh I know what you can eat. You should eat this..”

It gets aggravating to me. This is also bc my parents have been critical of my appearance when I was both big and small and I don’t like to be micromanaged.

I just also feel guilty bc I feel like I get super irritated around my parents because it is not within my nature to be so bitchy but I have slowly gone back to taking laxatives and body checking.

UPDATE: Help with verifying who owned my ancestors?

Hi all, I made a post around 7 months ago regarding finding the family that enslaved my family. This was related to finding records on my potential 4th-great-grandfather, Job Cobbs.

His origin story in the US began in Virginia around 1820. There was a hint behind a paywall that mentioned Dr. Rev. Nicholas Cobbs. When I looked through his records, I found a 1840 census that listed four slaves, but it didn't match Job's age profile.

After 7 months of waiting, I was able to get documents from the Hamner family records at the University of Virginia**,** which include the Virginia Slave Birth Index, but I was wondering if anyone could help me verify or refute anything?

The link to the records can be found here: https://virginia.app.box.com/s/eadq6ciucw62t0cpe97w6ay5n5qcyr6r

Thanks!

How did you guys get GLP’s Approved?

Hi all, I’m in a crisis. I was on ozempic two years ago and it was a God send. I’ve been diagnosed with PCos since age 12, and things have gotten worse with age. I was able to lose over 30 pounds while on a GLP1 and it helped with my symptoms. Since I’m now on the university’s insurance plan, I cannot get any GLP 1’s. I’ve now gained over 30 pounds back and in constant pain. I’m confused because I eat a clean diet, aim at 1600 cals, but I can’t seem to lose weight. When we submitted an appeal, it was denied based on the lack of medical necessity. But I now have a BMI of over 30, Chronic Kidney Disease and other problems.

What can I do? I also can’t pay out pocket bc I’m a grad student

How do I reconcile with my old self while in recovery?

I have been out of treatment for two months and I feel a bit better. It feels so free to eat freely but I still have really bad moments. I still have the habit of body checking in mirrors, windows, etc but my need to purge has dwindled. I feel mixed about this. I look at old pics in the peak of my disorder and I miss the way how I look even though I health was poor.

How do I reconcile with this? I feel healthier but hideous?

I think I’ve relapsed but I’m not entirely sure of it

Out of nowhere, I have developed again a strong urge to restrict. I have been a on a loop of restricting and binging until I almost fainted two days ago. I don’t know what has caused this but I feel so helpless. I have a friend, who is older, who often reminds me of how he finds me attractive and beautiful but it makes me feel less than myself because he is married. It makes me feel gross that he sees me that way and that he cares so much about me to a point that he tells he loves me. Even when I eat a normal amount of food I feel disgusting and the same when I restrict. I feel so miserable
