Tips for getting him to eat more wet food?

Hi everyone! I’ve got a question for you all.

So I was never told by a vet or anyone really when I had my previous cats that it’s best to maximize the amount of wet food in their diet. I’m trying to be a better cat owner for my newest charge and I would like to know how to get him to eat more wet food.

My kitten is 8.5 months old.

I leave kibble out 100% of the time for my boy to free feed on in between wet meals. I do this because I don’t want him to feel the need to overeat, if he always has access to food then he theoretically won’t ever become food insecure.

I give him a wet food meal twice a day by mixing half a can of food with heated water. Once a day I mix a churu in to try to entice him to finish his food, with some success.

The problem is, he doesn’t always eat everything or even a majority of his wet meals. I would say his probably gets 60-70% of his calories from dry food and often leaves his wet meals untouched. He frequently drinks the water from the wet food so I’m not too concerned about hydration right now as he also drinks water, but it’s quite a lot of money that goes to waste when right now I have to toss so much uneaten food.

Any general tips on getting him to eat more wet food? Should I restrict dry food more? Should I try blending the food in a processor since he doesn’t always seem to eat much of the solid food bits? Should I put a churu in both meals instead of just one? Any tips at all would be appreciated!

Leaving Starbucks for a local coffee shop, big learning curve?

Hi all!

I have an interview coming up very soon for a barista job at a local cafe and taproom. I’ve worked at Starbucks for the last couple years and I like working the bar, but obviously the problem is that Starbucks has automated machines and so I’m worried that my barista skills aren’t very good.

Any tips for the interview and just generally getting the hang of barista skills? Do I need to learn latte art? Are smaller coffee shops generally a bit more laid back than a Starbucks with a drive through? And is there anything I should specifically avoid going into this interview/job?

Thanks.

Getting started?

I’m looking for things I can do in my spare time that can bring in a little cash and that’s relatively enjoyable. I love dogs, and I need more exercise admittedly, plus some fresh air sounds nice.

Experienced dog walkers out there who make decent money, how did you get started? Did you start off with apps? Volunteering at rescues/humane societies? I would love to hear from you!

Diving in head first

I always disliked metal for the longest time, not because I think it sounds bad or anything but because I’d get overstimulated by the screaming too quickly to enjoy it much. But I decided to download a couple albums from local metal bands and I find I’m loving it more than I expected. Maybe I just don’t get overstimulated as easily as I used to, who knows, but I want to listen to more.

Any suggestions for both popular and niche bands in the genre?

Edit: Wow you guys are awesome! Thanks for all the great recs!

Looking for indie rock/alt music recs

Hello everyone! I'm looking to get into new music as I've mostly been listening to the same things for the last 15 years or so lmao.

I like a bit of everything but specifically what I'm looking for right now is indie rock/ alt rock/ punk songs or artists. Especially if the music has kind of a softer vibe to it, more melodious like a lot of indie stuff. New or old music are both fine by me. If it has a nice melody to it I'll probably love it, if it has interesting lyrics I'll probably love it.

Hit me with your favorite picks that you think I might like!

One week weed free

I know I should be proud of myself but I can’t be. The only reason I was able to stay weed free this past week without suffering is I’ve drank much more than I usually do, and I don’t want that to turn into its own problem the way it’s starting to. I don’t get fully drunk or anything, I just stay buzzed for the hours I would previously be getting high. Previously I’d go through 4-6 beers in a week and now I’m doing that every day or two. And I can feel the pull to drink more because it’s still not the same as getting high.

I don’t think I know how to go through life fully sober. And I don’t even really know why.

I’ve started actually tracking the number of drinks I have in a day to see if that helps anything. If anyone has any other tips on how to stay weed free without jumping headfirst into alcoholism that’d be appreciated.

ETA: Thank you so much to everyone taking the time to comment and share advice, I truly appreciate you all so much. You’re right, I need to replace the time I spend drinking/smoking with healthier habits and get to the root cause of why I feel the need to drink/smoke. Idk what my next steps look like exactly but I guess it’s on me to figure it out.
