Requesting Exterior Design Help

As title suggests, I am adding an addition on the left side of the house, but having trouble coming up with the exterior roof line/curb appeal. First photo is current, second is what I’m thinking. Any thoughts? Feedback? Additional suggestions? Creative ideas welcomed. Thanks!

Advice on home exterior design

Doing an addition on a home and really stuck on how to portray the front design elements to the architect we’re working with. I know nothing about architectural work and this is my first dive into this sort of thing.

Photo 1 is the current front of house, which I suppose is a mid-century style ranch home, and photo 2 is kind of the vision I am hoping for. Photo 3 is the first draft I received which I don’t think reflects what I’m going for.

Just for insight that front left addition is going to be a bathroom against that street facing exterior wall, and windows we’d like to be on each side of the interior sink/mirror.

From an architects viewpoint, what’s best way to convey these design elements aside from just sending them the AI photo?

Also, any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Ideas for wire hiding/future proofing

Just (mostly) finished this driveway gate. Ghost controlled, push-to-open gate. First real project I ever tackled and looking for suggestions to hide these wires. Mostly around the control box and then the wire from the automatic (zombie lock) system back to the control board.

Also any thoughts on preventing future sag? Posts are 4x4 steel ~40” deep in concrete. Hinges are heavy duty and welded on. Would a wheel be beneficial? Thanks!

Note* the steel frame is a little off due to the miter cuts I did. Welder did his best, but it’s not perfect. Corrected with the position of the decorative redwood.

GC and Subs Question

Hi all, looking to get an addition done and currently in the design phase. Will be bidding out the GC work but just wanted to know thoughts on this scenario. I already have someone I know and licensed that can do electrical, plumbing, and drywall.

Could I still find an overall GC to run the project but have my guys do the parts mentioned above? I guess this would be a blend of self-GCing and also hiring a GC, just not sure on how that’s looked upon or a normal process. Thanks!

Floorplan Feedback (tight space)

I posted about a week ago a floorplan we were working on (second photo) but based on input it definitely seemed like it was going to be too tight. With some reworking came up with a new one (first photo) and looking for any feedback or spears. Third photo is the current space. Thanks all!

Garage Conversion

Trying to figure out best use of space for this garage. We’d like to convert to a guest suite/ADU but also preserve some of our storage space. There’s currently electric and new window/l and door. Inside is just exterior framing walls and storage currently.

It does not have plumbing yet and is a slab floor. But we’d like the living area to have a small bathroom, at least queen size bed, and small closet, hot plate area, and mini fridge.

Aside from going up a second floor, or expanding out, is this doable within this footprint? Here’s my floorplan idea and the exterior for reference. Thanks!

Floorplan input requested!

Doing an addition and currently working through this tight space. Looking for any advice on this floorplan. We’ve done a lot of back and forth and I *think* we’re coming up on the end here but wanted to get everyone’s thoughts and see if there’s something we should remove or add to make better/more efficient.

For context that back left bedroom would be a child’s room. Also the bedroom on the back right with the double doors would actually be used as an extension to the living room to open it up from the front of the house to the back. We just wanted to be able to legally classify it as a bedroom. Thanks!

Edit* to add, there IS room to go further in the back of the house, however we are also trying to keep costs manageable by not extending another roof line (the rear). Unless we see a way that it is 100% worth it
