Thoughts on Beta 6.

Don't read further if you're not part of the beta and or don't want spoilers.

>!Those of you in beta, what are your thoughts on Beta 6.0? !<

>!The warp gates are kind of meh to me. It would of been much more intriguing to have to sail to the north pole or wherever Bastion is. Maybe break some ice to get to a new dock area. Using a portal\gate is kind of cheesy and removes a lot of the reality from the game. They certainly could of used portals to send themselves to space or whatever. I was hoping at some point you'd get to launch yourself into space, guaranteed that's not going to happen with portals now... !<

>!I've played through Bastion station. It was challenging and the cold physics are cool, but I'm left feeling a little disappointed. !<

>!I get the whole station is setup to do experiments on humans, that's important to the story. However, why do we have to set up little heaters all over? The humans that were kept here would of heated the whole place. I see pipes running all over and a furnace or boiler room, yet we have no way to bring the whole place online? The humans and robots used space heaters...meh. I will say the heat physics are neat, fans seem to blow heat into an a joining room etc. !<

>!I also found myself annoyed that there is no way to use vehicles in the arctic tundra. You can walk the mountain a bit and see some other structures, but the gyro won't fly even with it's strongest booster. !<

>!I guess maybe I'm just feeling left a little annoyed. I want to explore more but you can't because you have no way to stay warm outside little pockets of heat you create. You can't heat the main shaft and you have no way to bring heat with you. !<

>!I will say nice environmental improvements. The physics are improved and the storms etc are more real than ever, nicely done and I overall enjoy the game. I'm ~300 hours in now, more than I've spent on any other game. !<

Ingrown toenail, should I cancel?

Ugh... after a few years of trying to figure out what's up with my hip, I have surgery scheduled in 10 days. I've been battling ingrown toenails on my big toes for about 5-6 months after cutting them too short.

I thought I had them figured out, they haven't been bothering me until we went to a theme park last week and did lots of walking and a water park. My right one (surgery side) is sore, red again, and shows one area that's raw.

It's very slowly getting better but I'm not confident it'll be 100% by surgery and worried about caring for it after as my mobility will obviously be very limited for a while.

I'm thinking about calling it off and rescheduling to next year once I get these dealt with.

What would you do, push through and hope it's better or play it safe and call it off?

I'm assuming they'd like to know sooner rather than later.

Who else deals with very sporadic symptoms?

The last few years I've dealt with hip, iliacus and groin pain on and off. Could be on for a few months and then magically disappears for 1-4 weeks. It's typically a gnawing pain, usually not more than a 3 pain level though. It's not sharp or intense pain, just very deep ache\throb in my hip area and groin etc.

Sometimes exercise aggravates it, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes sitting too much aggravates it, sometimes it doesn't.

I finally got in and got a MRI with contrast and have been working with a hip preservationist. Verified labrum tear and small cam impingement.

I have surgery scheduled for 2 weeks out and of course the last few weeks, I've been 100% pain free. This of course makes me super second guess getting surgery and the recovery.

I try and remember the weeks I'm in pain but It's maddening.

Anyone else like this? Did you go through with surgery with success?

How long would you be patient for?

Purchased a lightly used vehicle from a well known dealer in my area. They proudly advertise a no questions asked return policy.

Unfortunately I had to use the return policy after finding major issues with the vehicle they sold me a few days after I purchased it.

I was told 7-10 days for my down payment refund, it was a pretty substantial amount. It's been ~ 2 1/2 weeks, nothing.

I've inquired twice, once with the sales manager and once with the finance guy a few days ago and told it's "in processing".

I'm a patient dude but I'm getting to my tipping point.

How much longer would you wait before firing off emails to corporate? I happen to have the contact info for the used car Director as I had some concerns in the beginning with their process.

CDF drum issues in 2020-2022's

We need a SUV for cabin duty\boat towing duty. I had a 2012 for several years back in the day and really liked it, so a newer one is on my shopping list.

Looking at the newest gen and I see the 2020-2022 have the same CDF drum issues in the 10 speed as the rest of their lineup that uses this transmission.

Of course the 2020-2022's are more in my price range, but I don't want a problem child.

Those of you with these model years, what's your plan to deal with this issue? Extended warranty? Just have the cash to fix it if\when comes up? ( I've read it's more when, not if it happens). Or, just suck it up and get a 2023+?

Need some review\reassurance.

I need to run my symptoms and diagnosis by the community to see if that aligns with anyone else's experiences and or if I'm on the right track. 43 yo male.

~2 years ago I started to get groin and testicle pain during\after sitting long periods of time and or exercise, mainly running\core work.

-(Not to get weird or graphic but this may be good context)The pain also seems to come on from doing forward thrusting motions where my core extends past my centerline. Sex where I am thrusting seems to irritate it a lot for example.

-The pain was a deep ache in my groin and right testicle and sometimes up into my front right hip crest\iliacus area.

-I thought I had testicle issues so I went in and had ultrasounds done etc, which came back clear.

-I kind of just stretched and continued to work out, the pain would come and go but was manageable. Sometimes I'd be a month or more with no pain.

-~1 year ago the pain continued but moved\included more into the muscles surrounding my right hip and more deep iliacus pain in that right hip area. It's like a deep achy pain in the muscles surrounding the front of my hip and my hip and Iliadic crest. If I push deep into the muscles right above\surrounding my hip socket, they're sore. I never get sharp pain. I do get some hip popping when doing deadbugs or flutter kicks for example.

-Not getting anywhere with core strengthening and hip\glute stuff, I saw a ortho. The ortho said my pain pattern is very atypical with the testicle pain, but wanted me to get a MRI with contrast to look at my hip due to my complaints of soreness surrounding my hip and into my glute area.

-I had a MRA and came back with: Tear of the anterosuperior acetabular labrum at the chondrolabral junction. There is full-thickness contrast imbibing tear. Incomplete tear extends posteriorly to the superior labrum. No tendinopathy in my hip or iliopsoas found. Cam lesion which can predispose to femoroacetabular impingement.

-First ortho wanted to jump right into surgery as my self PT had done nothing, but is not specifically a hip preservationist. Doing my due diligence, I sought out a well known hip preservationist in my area and got a second opinion.

-While he agreed with the MRI, he wanted to do a little more investigative work due to my odd pain profile. I got an lidocaine injection in my hip joint. The injection did resolve some of my deep achy pain but not fully into my groin and iliacus region. My ortho said this wouldn't be abnormal as referred pain developed over years couldn't be fully resolved with an targeted injection. He said based on my injection, he was comfortable doing surgery.

So, this brings me to now. I'm booked for surgery in a month and having bad cold feet or the feeling that I missed something. Should I have any other imaging done? One thing that crossed my mind is sports hernia, but my ortho didn't seem concerned about that.

I'm also getting cold feet as it's such a huge long recovery and my pain is so fluid. I'll be fine for weeks or a month at a time and it randomly pops up. When it does pop up, pain is like a 3-5 but typically goes away within a week or so and repeat.

Has anyone had a pain profile like this and surgery resolved it? Am I missing anything?

Can I just show up to look at a vehicle I had shipped in?

I had a specific vehicle I've been looking for shipped in. It took longer to get here than estimated by several days and now has been sitting on the lot waiting on quality checks for several days.

I really just want to see if the vehicle matches it's pictures or if I'm wasting my time.

Can I just show up during business hours and ask to see the vehicle?

There were a few things in the pics that they didn't call out as defects, but the receiving location may and I'm wondering if they're fixing stuff. I don't really care. I just want to see it overall to make the call on if I'm really interested.

I did get assigned a sales guy but he hasn't really been responsive. He's just asked to get me setup with express pickup next week and nothing since then. That's confusing because the status says it's not ready yet.

Used Atlas water ingress issues.

What a whirl wind the last few days...

I picked up a CPO 2023 Atlas last week, loved it. Over the weekend as the typical dealer cleaning smells wore off, it uncovered a very strong musty\mold smell.

I spent hours hound dogging around the car looking for a source. It wasn't the HVAC vents, I even went as far as to pull the carpet back and look for the HVAC drains leaking etc. This one had no sunroof so it's not that.

It seemed to permeate up through the center console.

Finally as I was digging around I stuck my hand in the carpet flap under the passenger seat and the carpet foam was soaked and reeked. Ugh...

Luckily I was able to unwind the deal which kind of sucks in it's own ways but way better than living with a moldy car. The dealer offered to tear it apart and fix it but I doubt they'd actually remove\replace the carpet and disinfect it properly etc.

Anyways, what the heck could of caused it to get wet back there and is there anything else specific I should be looking for in this platform when I go to shop again? Just a freak occurrence or are these known for having water ingress issues from somewhere?

The dealer was great, but I need a few weeks to not deal with car stuff and car dealers etc, LOL.

Anyone return a car to a Luther dealer in their 5 day policy?

I purchased a used vehicle from a Luther dealer last week. Unfortunately it ended up having some major issues so I decided to return it and unwind the deal under their 5-day return policy.

Has anyone else done this, did it go smoothly? Also, did you get any paperwork? I signed an odometer statement and a form to get my deposit back but the dealer said that was it, there was no paperwork to give me.

I feel like there should have been something.

I hate used car shopping, it's so draining.

Just need to vent as I've been having a hell of a time finding a used SUV that doesn't have some issue. As we all know, the market sucks so you have to kind of jump on a vehicle if you see it come up for sale.

Originally I was looking for something around the $15K mark so I could just pay cash, very difficult to find something that isn't a POS.

Dealer 1, I find a SUV I like that's incoming in my budget. Dealer says his buyer said it's super nice, low miles, non smoker, very clean. I toss down a deposit that is refundable if it shows up not as described. It shows up and reeks like smoke, cigarette burns in the seats etc. Fuck. Dealer says they'll ozone it etc and see what I think. Never heard back. Tried to call and email to get my deposit back, nothing... Of course....

Figure I'll double my budget and look for something newer and CPO.

Dealer 2, a couple year old CPO vehicle fits all our needs. Notice it has kind of a funk on the test drive mixed with typical air freshener BS detail guys use. Sales guy says they detail them and then some sit so it just needs to be aired out. They have a return policy so I move forward. Well, been airing it out for days, funk is getting stronger. Start digging around, the passenger carpet foam is soaked... Fuck me... Guess it's going back and I'm starting over again. They had to of known and better not give me shit returning it in their policy. I'm super lucky I found that, it would of been hell to deal with after the fact.

Used car buying sucks. Now I remember why I just buy new. New cars now are ridiculously priced but I may just need to bite the bullet, ugh.

Center console smells like mildew\mold?

Just picked up a CPO Atlas last night. It checked all our boxes and loved it on the test drive. Super clean and appears well cared for. It has PPF and a meticulous service record.

It smelled strongly of cleaner or some deodorizer scent during our test drive and just a little off. Not like cigarette smoke or anything but just off.

We mentioned it to the sales guy who said it just went through detail before we picked it up and the smell would go away if we left the windows down.

I wiped the interior down with the stuff I detail with and left it parked in my garage with the windows down and a fan circulating in it.

Today the overwhelming fake whatever cleaning smell has improved about 50% but I'm getting wafts of mildew or something from where the cup holder and shifter are when I get into it. If I stick my nose down by the drive mode dial or cup holders, it smells pretty strong.

I know VW's can smell odd sometimes, some of my past VW's have smelled like crayons, but has anyone else experienced this? Possible they detailed the console with a nasty smelling rag?

For reference, I don't have a sunroof and it's not coming from the HVAC.

I don't really have a way to get in there and clean it if it's under the console...

Luckily the dealer has a 5 day return policy. I think it may have to go back unfortunately...Ugh... It took us a month of searching to find this.

What would you do? Seems kind of risky to keep it when we have an out. The dealer is 2.5 hours round trip so it's not like we can just swing by.

Do 5th Gen's with the Class 3 trailer tow package have a cooled PTU?

I'm looking at picking up a 2018 XLT AWD with the 3.5 V6 and class lll trailer tow package, naturally I started researching about maintenance etc. to see what I could be getting into.

I'm reading such conflicting info on if the gen 5's with the tow package have the cooled PTU. I know they have an engine oil cooler, but have seen both yes and no for the cooled PTU.

Can anyone verify if they do?

Midsized SUV that can tow 5000Lbs.

In the need for a second vehicle to be used mainly as a midsized fishing\ski boat hauler. I'd estimate the boat to be around 3-3300Lbs. I'd like a little extra wiggle room in case we want to haul something larger. My wife and I both WFH and our primary vehicle is a Rav4. (unfortunately has a 1500Lb tow rating).

We don't need a 3rd row, and ideally just want a 2 row vehicle. We only have one kid and that's all we'll have. It would be nice if they can drive his vehicle, they'll start driving in a few years.

I was pretty dead set on a 2018-2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Their mixed reliability though has kind of put that option on the back burner. Am I overthinking that one?

Trying to stay under $30K but could go up a little.

I was looking at a Ford Maverick, even with its 4K tow rating, but after driving them a few times, they ride kind of rough. I like a more cushy ride. Not interested in any Honda's, my last one was a nightmare.

What would you get?

If you have a "low key" job, where do you work? What do you do?

I've been in IT over 20 years now. Helpdesk to Networking to cloud Admin stuff. I've seen a lot of things and worked for SMB's to mega orgs.

As I've progressed in my career and the IT landscape has changed, I've changed with it. Reformed myself, self trained, and moved up as opportunities presented themselves.

The issue I ran into several, maybe 5-7 years ago, was burnout. I ran wide open for so many years that I was burned out. Burned out of doing the work of 2-3 people, burned out of on call.

I tried switching areas of IT and also switching employers to an employer (very large org) which I thought would be a little slower and more laid back. Well, it's not. It's an unorganized mess, I'm doing the job of 3 people again, and unexpectantly landed myself on call after a round of layoffs and us picking up critical systems, ugh.

I'm feeling burned out, again....

So my question is, those of you that do just one job ( not one thing specifically but not asked to do the work of 3 people) and can kind of be low key, what do you do and what type of org do you work for?

I get recruiters reaching out to me all the time but the jobs seem like just as much of a nightmare. It's like one dude managing the whole Microsoft stack and it pays $100K LOL. No thanks.

I've been applying to government\state jobs for many years with no luck.

I need something more sustainable for the second half of my career, I'm tired of running 110% all the time.

Those of you that wanted to slow down a bit, what do you do?

Lidocaine Injection Results opinion

I've had hip pain that surfaces mostly as generalized deep aching in my hip with radiating pain in a C shape around my hip muscles with strong soreness in my iliacus\iliac crest, groin, and pain in my right testicle. No sharp or pinching pain.

I have been doing self PT ( my sister is a PT) with some results, but still weeks of pretty bad flares, usually brought on when I'm sitting a lot. Standing and doing exercise I typically feel great, no real pain.

I met with a Orthopedic doc and based on these symptoms, I had an arthrogram a few months ago in which my ortho doc found a tear and impingement. My doc said he was fairly confident surgery would fix my issues and that I could try PT but more than likely I'm just kicking the can down the road, labrums can't heal.

Due to my kind of weird pain profile and due diligence, I decided to get a second opinion and searched out a well known hip preservation doc in my area.

My new doc has been questioning my pain profile a little more as it's atypical, and wanted to do a lidocaine injection to see if I could feel any relief.

I had that injection today.

I'd say it took away a good amount of that deep throbbing pain in my hip and surrounding muscles, probably ~75-80%. I actually got kind of a weird euphoric feeling for ~10 minutes not being in pain for the first time in a few years!

It however did not take away my iliacus soreness nor fully my groin soreness. ( I read this could be expected though...?)

Thoughts? Those of you that had lidocaine, were your experiences similar?

Lidocaine to assist in diagnosis.

I've been dealing with pain in my right hip, iliacus region, right groin, and testicle for a few years now.

The pain comes and goes. I could be 99% fine for weeks then in pain for 1-30 days... Then the pain just disappears again for a while.

I finally got in to a hip specialist who had me do an arthrogram with contrast. They can see I have what they described as a small tear and cam impingement\FAI.

He said I have a very atypical pain profile though and he's not 100% certain it's coming from my labral tear.

They want to do a Lidocaine injection into my hip to see if my pain resolves to make sure it's actually my hip and not something else.

My main issue is that of course I have it scheduled for tomorrow and my pain is like a 1 right now.... I've been trying to make it flare up all week but of course, it just keeps feeling better, LOL.

Would you hold off on the injection or just get it to see if you notice any difference? If I move in very specific ways I can get some pain but not my normal groin\testicle\iliacus ache\pain I get when I'm in a flare.

I'm thankful I'm not in a flare\pain all the time but dang, it sure makes it tricky to diagnose! It seems every time I have an appt my flare goes away.

Org keeps expanding service offerings. How do you deal with this?

I'll preface with that I've been in sysadmin'ish roles for over 20 years now.

The last org I was a part of I was a lead Engineer. I had control over what was implemented, project timelines, how features\products were implemented, proper support structures, etc. Leadership valued my guidance and looked to me to help architect and lead technology at the org.

Unfortunately that org was purchased by a larger org and liquidated so I left for a much larger org working in a subset of systems that I had experience in.

Overall it's been alright, lots of new scenarios, but it's fast paced and a lot of work.

The main issue I'm running into, and this is a bit of a rant, is the half baked solutions being pushed out the door. No proper project planning, no clear guidance on use cases and setting things up properly before rollout.

Management seems to get requests for a need\system and yeet's them into production as fast as possible.

I'm on a project now, I'm trying to do my due diligence of implementing a proper system. Onboarding, training, a support structure, etc. Stuff that really shouldn't be in my wheelhouse, really.

Management is getting pushy that's it's taking so long and again want to just push it into prod without it being fully ready.

This is just one example of many recently and it's really stressing me out.

How do you guys deal with this? Is it like this at most large orgs?

I'm getting really tired of yolo supporting new systems without proper guardrails and support structures in place. It creates incredible support stress on my team due to the lack of structure.

I guess just kind of a rant and looking for any advice. I respectfully push back and drag my feet to try and get a good system setup, but I don't want to risk my job either. I've been noticing that when I do that I'm being treated like I'm not doing my job which makes me feel worse because all I'm trying to do is my due diligence and implement useable, scalable, and supportable systems.

Pishon power\question

Does your Pishon POI power up when power is supplied? Mine stays red like there is no power and the central stack does not draw any power.

I have 2 levels build and stuff grows fine but I find it odd..

Also, does your dirt\organic matter in the growing beds disappear? About half mine were missing organic matter\dirt last time I went back and I had to refill them which sucked.

Opinion on diagnosis

43yo male, fairly in shape and active. No previous issues. Please bear with me, I'll try and lay out my series of events to paint a clear picture for advice.

Starting around 18 months ago I randomly started to get pain in my right Iliadic crest down into my groin, especially while sitting. I thought I was just tight and started to do stretches and PT stuff for my core.

Around 12 months ago while running I started to get an ache\tightness feeling in my right hip. I assumed it was TFL\hip flexor related stuff so I continued to stretch and try and strengthen. When I do dead bugs, my right hip does clunk or pop sometimes, no pain in the actual joint though.

Since then my achy hip comes and goes. It seems to get worse if I sit a lot or the day after I do lots of walking\hiking. Stretching and rolling on foam rollers etc either does nothing or makes it more sore. Exercise actually usually makes it feel better that day, then the ache in my hip, right iliacus region and down into my right groin\testicle comes back. ( out of due diligence I did see a doc about the testicle pain and had a ultrasound, everything down there came back ok)

The pain is manageable, mostly a dull ache from my hip, lower abs\iliacus, down to groin, but with things not improving really at all doing my own PT and stretching, I went and saw a ortho doc. After describing my symptoms, he said it sure sounded a lot like labrum issues and wanted to get me in for a MRI with contrast to see what things looked like.

I had my MRI and the results are as follows:

-Labrum: Tear of the anterosuperior acetabular labrum at the chondrolabral junction. There is full-thickness contrast imbibing tear. Incomplete tear extends posteriorly to the superior labrum.

-Cam lesion which can predispose to femoroacetabular impingement.

On my initial phone follow up call they said I could try PT to see if it would help my symptoms or have surgery to repair the labrum and FAI. I wanted to discuss more with my doc so I have a face to face follow up in a few weeks.

I wanted to turn to you to see if my symptoms\pain track with my diagnosis and what your thoughts are on surgery. I certainly don't want to make things worse, I've never had surgery so this all makes me a little nervous.

Should I be looking at anything else\asking any other questions? Is pain deep in the iliac crest and down into the groin normal with labrum\FAI issues? Is it normal to not feel pain directly in the joint but more in the hip flexor\TFL area?

Thanks in advance!
