Just got a call from my local Ford dealership. I could barely hear or understand her but she was talking about a recall for the AWD. Anyone else get the call, I’m not getting anything when I pull up my vin.

Ford Performance Calibration Kit (Part M-9603-EX30A)

Anyone have any experience with this software performance upgrade? I have a 2025 Explorer Platinum. Considering this option, which is 'warranty safe' as it must be installed by Ford, so they back it.

Also read that with this software upgrade, that spark plugs should be changed to a colder plug, P/N M-12405-35T.

Allegedly buys you about 100 ft/lbs of torque and 35HP.

Anyone ran into this problem?

New radiator installed. But I am trying to get my transmission line disconnected from the adapter fitting…& this tool doesnt fit in between the line and the fitting…i unscrewed the fitting from the radiator to see if i can just screw that line into it. I can get 3-4 turns in before it completely stops. I dont have the money to replace the lines, i’ve been at this since last night & im running out of patience, can anyone help?

Turbo question

Alright guys I’m looking for you opinions, I’m a transmission R&R tech so I do all my own work but it’s getting to be about time to replace my turbos on my 2015 Sport. No codes or anything but 130,890 on odometer. I’ve kept my explorer running great so far and I’m just curious if you guys would replace both turbos with OEM or go cheaper aftermarket? I’ve done lower control arms, tie rod ends, rear upper control arms, water pump, timing chain and all that jazz, spark plugs, blend door actuators and pretty much anything else has been motorcraft parts. Literally everything is OEM and I want my car to last at least another 70,000-100,000 so I’m a bit skeptical to go with aftermarket turbos. Thoughts and opinions?

Door Code Question

My mother locked herself out of her 2012 Ford Explorer. The second key does not work, and the only option is the door code. The manual is *inside* the car. My question is, can we *call* Ford to check the factory code by giving them the VIN, or is that not allowed?

Key fob compatibility

I’m looking to buy a used ‘18 Explorer, and it has the fob pictured in the first pic, can I get the fob (second pic) reprogrammed to the new vehicle if it’s a different model? Fob is from a ‘17 Explorer.

(I know it doesn’t have a trunk button. Also I have one with a trunk button, could that one be used, does it make a difference?)

Is my old explorer worth saving?

My first car was a ‘98 SOHC 4.0 4wd and it’s been sitting for almost five years now. I love this car to death and believe me I put it through hell and back lmao

I had a small leak from my oil pan and when I went to change the gasket I discovered part of my timing chain guide in the pan. So I decided to at least change the tensioners to alleviate any issues temporarily. While doing so I accidentally cross-threaded one of them causing a crack in the head where it threads in. I wish I had photos of the waterfall of oil that went everywhere.

It’s got almost 180k I think, and obviously the timing chain probably needs to be done and iirc my transmission was probably due for a rebuild. What are steps I could take to get her on the road again? I’m pretty mechanically inclined and have done all the work on my cars since I was 16 but obviously not a professional mechanic, so I’m trying to avoid dumping a bunch of money in the wrong direction. Any advice from anyone familiar with these engines would be appreciated!

Edit: I might add that aside from the obvious everything else is in good shape, no rust, interior is in great shape aside from normal wear. I always stayed on top of regular maintenance. My friend has long suggested I just engine swap it with something lmao.

2015 Transmission issues

The 6F35 transmission in the XLT is not happy at 190,000+ miles. I'm getting the shudder despite the shifts remaining fairly smooth. How many people have had success replacing the trans fluid and adding the transfix goop? I understand that you can only drain about half the fluid with a change. Should I try multiple changes to flush even more of the old fluid out before adding the transfix?

Hate to dump the Explorer after dropping $2K to replace the water pump and chain components...other than the pump and this recent shudder, the Explorer has been a bulletproof champ.

Explorer owners -- 2.3L or 3.0L?

Pretty sure I've landed on the Explorer Tremor as our next car.

Trading in a 2018 4runner (which I love), but Explorer has more comfort/bells and whistles that we want. This will be our primary child/dog mover. We do lots of outdoor activities. Very, very light offroading - mostly dirt roads, snowy roads, etc.

We can afford the 3.0 but am wondering if its overkill for us. We don't do much towing and don't live near a major highway so top speed/pickup is not a huge factor.

If you have the 2.3L -- is it good enough? Any other insight? Many thanks.

22 center console bracket broke

Does anyone have any suggestions for dealing with this. My 4 year old climbed across the center console and the plastic brackets snapped. Is my only option buying a whole new console for $400+ on eBay?

2026 Explorer Active

Just brought this one home yesterday. So happy to be back in an explorer my last explorer was a 2020. So many upgrades have been made to the 2026. The active has a lot of the features that I loved about my 2020 Limited without the hefty price tags attached.

My out the door price was $36,512 after discounts and rebates.

2014 Ford Explorer (Base) - Electric Power Steering (EPS) failure common?

Inherited a '14 Explorer with only 80k miles. Within a year I was getting the "power steering assist fault" error which I could fix by restarting. Eventually that didn't work and I lost all power steering.

This year doesn't appear to be on a recall. Quoted $2200 for new Rack and Pinion Assembly install.

Since I got the Explorer for free, I'm open to doing this, but is this failure common? Going to happen again? Awful expensive repair for an 85k vehicle. Not a fan of EPS...

Hatch motors

Does anyone know if there are reliable motors that will open the back further than factory?

I am tired of hitting my head. And I am fairly certain that my ‘16 Escape opens higher.

Before you say so, yes it’s opening all the way and no it’s not set to open lower.

Unused connector under the seat

I found this connector under my 2012 XLT second row left seat, does anyone know what it is used for exactly?

Just got this in the mail NOS! Randomly came across it on eBay when looking into buying a replacement rim since one of mine is heavily curbed. Thought you guys would enjoy seeing the beauty of a brand new saw blade!

I can’t wait to put it on my Great Uncle’s 93 Explorer 4WD after I get the other 3 rims refinished in preparation for its first car show in October! I also have a brand new center cap to go along with it!

Why does it sounds like that?

I have a 2014 limited 3.5, couple days ago I have my water pump done and they also replace timing belt, gaskets, serpentine belt and spark plugs, I’m getting worried that the sound is not going away

I just bought my first Explorer at 75k… I wanna do a full fluid flush (coolant, engine, transmission, diffs, PTU). What fluid do I need for these?
