Damn, I'm all alone

I was planning to go to the theatre today but I didn't book my ticket in advance. Of course, I went solo, just by myself as always. Turns out the show was sold out and I was told to stand on the side of the line just in case some people don't show up. As I was standing there all by myself watching people going in I felt so awkward. I usually am fine with being by myself, I always go places alone. But something about standing there like a loser who didn't buy a ticket in advance and people looking at me, it got to me. The cherry on top of the cake was when the lady came to me and told me they won't have a seat for me and there's no point in waiting. Talk about the walk of shame. I came home and cried. I'm all alone. I'm fine with being in the background in events and stuff, but the moment I stand out even a little I feel terrible. It would be so much easier if I had a plus one, everything would be easier.

As for tonight, trashy reality TV it is, I guess.

Female friendships always take the back seat: the girls' trip is no more

I'm a bit angry and disappointed right now at my friend. She suggested a girls' trip since we haven't travelled together in such a long time. The other girls didn't seem to be interested so it would have been just me and her and maybe another one. We didn't book anything, we were just talking about it. Welp, she is taking the trip with her bf. She booked the flights and is looking for a hotel. She told me that I should join if the other friend wants to come to share the cost of the hotel room. Whatever. This sucks. Is that how it goes? Only making plans with gfs if and only if bf is not available and if he becomes available then the plans are more likely to get cancelled.

There hasn't been a better time in my life to plan a solo trip. I have been avoiding traveling solo out of fear that I'll be feeling lonely and if anything happens to me I'll be alone at a foreign place. But if I don't take that risk I'll never travel at all. I'll always be at the same place. So solo travelling it is. Tips and traveling stories are very very welcome rn. Rant over

Love comes easy...as long as you're pretty

Why did I do this to myself again? Why am I going on these anonymous chat apps knowing very well that there's a before they see my pic and an after, and the after is usually the end of the conversation. I guess I didn't expect to meet someone I actually like.

We had been talking for a couple of days, almost a week. I had shared some body pics. When I tell you this man was excited about me...He was texting me all day long, asking about me, my life, the things I do in a day, likes/dislikes etc. He kept saying how much he loves talking to me and how much he craves to meet me in person. We didn't live in the same city but he was ready to fly wherever I was. He said I could just pick the dates and he'd be there. He was making plans for when we meet in person. He was also raving about how attracted he was to me, despite not having seen my face. He was sure I'm very pretty, his words. I finally couldn't take it anymore, I knew there'd be a shift once he saw me. I shared my insta handle. What I didn't expect was for him to disappear without a single word. He didn't slow fade, he didn't ghost after a short chat, he just disappeared. He didn't even follow me and my account is private. So all of that because of a pfp he couldn't even see clearly. Earlier that day he was looking at airplane tickets and hotel rooms and then nothing.

First off, I feel like my face in particular is like a life sentence of loneliness and I hate feeling this way. I hate that men make me feel this way because I resemble my father, my aunt, my grandmother, people I love deeply. I feel bad for thinking I'm ugly because I feel like I am betraying them.

Second off, this man was head over heels. I know it was not deep or real at all. But I don't think he was lying when he was expressing how he felt, I do believe he felt this excitement about me. He was ready to take a risk and fly to see me. He was fantasizing about our future. But all of that was AS LONG AS I was pretty. So for a pretty woman that's how it goes. Men would do anything for her, at least in the beginning. She doesn't have to chase or even move a finger. I think I got a taste of that. But if you're not pretty I guess you don't get to experience this kind of excitement.

Finally, I hate that this happened to me again. Maybe deep down I felt like this sort of experience is a thing of the past. Maybe I thought he'd be an exception. Maybe that, just like everyone experiences romance, that's my turn. Well, I guess not.

31F Friday night in crew, gather up

If you don't have any plans for tonight either and you're around my age and preferably from Europe, let's chat! What are you watching tonight? Is it as hot where you are as where I am? Are you single too and if yes how do you feel about being single in your 30s? I feel like it hits harder on nights like this. I can't promise I'll stay awake for much longer but let's see how it goes. The night is young.

I was walking around in a superstore with a cart with various objects in it. Someone thought I worked there.

Just found this sub and it feels like home because things like that happen to me all the time. I have been mistaken for a waitress at restaurants more than once and usually on my way to the restroom. But recently I was in that superstore wearing my regular casual - sporty clothes, a dark green t-shirt and jeans shorts. A man stops me to ask where the brooms are at. I said I don't know and moved on. I was carrying a cart with different items in it, had my sunglasses on my head and was carrying a hand bag. I swear, one of those times that I get mistaken for staff I will be rude and they'll be so mad when they realise they can't report me to the manager!

Does anybody feel like men don't like looking at their face?

This might be a very niche concern but I'm curious about other women's experiences. I see a lot of people daily due to my job, and sometimes the same people over and over again. I have noticed that men, especially men my age as I don't have that issue with older men nor women, avoid looking at my face. Even when I'm talking to one they avoid eye contact. Or if I look at them to say hello they look away immediately and pretend they didn't see me. For context, I have a prominent nose and I'm not conventionally attractive. Could that be the reason even in a professional setting? Anyone else that relates? Or any insight into this behaviour?
