REI Flagship bike mechanics

For those that have brought their bikes to REI for service, what did they work on and how did they do?

curious about everything from basic drive train adjustments to brake bleed, spoke replacement, etc.

help me justify a new chase sapphire reserve card

i applied and got approved for a new chase sapphire reserve card. I have a sapphire preferred card already, but got the new one because I wanted to get a extra point value for redeeming airfare to Japan on chase travel. I know it's best to transfer, but I've never found a good deal for point redemption when I am planning to travel. I still have plenty of united miles that I still haven't spent because I never see a good deal for redemption.

So chase is getting rid of the 1.25 and 1.5 point multiple. I will lose the existing point multiple I have on grandfathered points if I try moving them to the new card.

I get 100,000 points ($1000 in value) if I spend $6000 in the first 3 months on the reserve card. $300 in annual travel credit. I don't use stub hub, I don't subscribe to apple. Do I just hold onto the card for a year and then cancel?

mini-velo bikepacking

for those who have gone bikepacking with a mini velo, what's your take away doing 100+ miles, fully loaded rides on with small wheel bike?

how'd it feel descending steep hills and bumps or pot holes along the way?
if you rode gravel, was the bike able to handle rough or single track?
did you like it enough to pick your minivelo again over a larger bike?

customer support issue escalation

I booked a flight with Booking.com last year and had to cancel due to a medical emergency. Since then I've been trying to get a refund request processed between them and the airline. When I contacted the airline directly, they told me my request would be honored, but (1) I would need to provide specific information to validate the request and (2) I would need booking.com to submit the refund request on my behalf.

Since going through this process and providing the info to booking.com I have not been able to get a consistent or clear updates. I kept calling for updates over an 8 month period before the customer support agent looked into the file and saw that the first request they submitted was denied because either booking.com didn't send all the info or someone at the airline didn't review all the materials. I didn't find this out until 6 months after the airline denied the initial request.

Since then, I have been told they resubmitted the request and are waiting to hear back, but I'm still not getting any concrete updates. I am concerned that like the prior request, there are updates to my case file, but this information is not clearly visible in my cases file or unavailable to the front line customer support agent I'm talking with because my case file includes personal medical documents.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make more progress with customer support?

Vinegar in washing machine rinse cycle?

Been trying vinegar in our wash cycles to remove soap buildup and get our towels softer.

  • This goes in the fabric softener compartment and gets dispersed in the rinse cycle
  • We have adjusted twin dos levels to where we see minimal suds in the wash
  • I turn on the optional extra rinse setting
  • I run an extra rinse cycle if I still see suds in the door gasket

How safe is it for the hoses and rubber gaskets of the washing machine? I'm thinking I should run an extra rinse after to flush out any remains vinegar residue

Dryer glass streaks

Been noticing this streaking cloudy film on the glass window of our dryer. I tried cleaning it off but nothing works. I think it's on the other side of the glass that. Is there any easy way to take the door apart and clean that part of the glass? What is this buildup?

▲ 1 r/Govee

I can't seem to get the H5080 smart plug wifi to stay connected.

  1. when i set it up in the app the notification shows it's successful.
  2. when i go to see the device along with the others on the govee app home page it shows the device doesn't have a wifi connect (red wifi symbol).

I can see the device connected on my router.
When i disable bluetooth the device shows that it's disconnected on the govee app.

Any suggestions on what to do?
