For some reason, I actually like DMC2. Yeah, I know the game is slow, unfinished, repetitive, and probably the weakest game in the series, but I still replayed it multiple times on emulator because there was always *something* weirdly enjoyable about it.

Now that I got the HD Collection, I decided to immediately use Trish with the hard mode code and play through both discs with her.

literally transforms the entire game.

She has the DMC1 moveset, which already makes combat infinitely more satisfying. Round Trip + Bare Knuckle is actually possible, she’s WAY faster than Dante and Lucia, her attacks flow better, and combos actually feel good to do instead of feeling like you’re fighting underwater.

There were moments where I was styling so hard, chaining enemies together so fast, and getting so many S ranks that I genuinely started thinking “wait… is DMC2 actually good?”

Then I remembered:

“no, it's trish.”

She basically turns DMC2 into DMC1 remix, and suddenly the combat becomes fun instead of a chore. The game still has the same awful level design and enemy issues, but at least the gameplay stops putting you to sleep.

Play Trish immediately, then go for achievements afterward.

She genuinely saves the game.
