Severe Bleeding

How severe is your bleeding during your period? I am diagnosed and I’ve always had very heavy periods, but it’s really getting excessive at this point. I’m on my period and have to stay home because I’m going through an ultra sized tampon or large menstrual cup every 30 minutes. That’s about 20mL every 30 minutes. This isn’t the first time it’s happened to me. Last time, it was like this and continued for over a month. Its only day two so far this time, but I’m already so fatigued and in pain and just over it.

So, how much do you all bleed and, if you bleed really excessively like I do, what do you do about it?

The Phrase, “Bless the Lord.”

Can somebody explain what this actually means? I don’t understand it. In my mind, I’m thinking blessings come from the Lord. We don’t put blessings on God. He blesses us. So I don’t really get what this means.

Needing Help Finding A Hairbrush and Products for Frequently Tangled Hair

Hello! I am 26 and have Type 1b hair (I think) that tends to be a little dry and that tangles really easily. I also have pretty bad psoriatic arthritis. I’ve been in a flare this past week that prevented me from being able to grip my hairbrush and brush out my hair. Now it’s basically one big ball of tangled mess!

I don’t know much at all about hair, and I’m looking for reccomendations on hairbrushes that are good to use for easily tangled hair without excessively damaging it. If possible, I really need one that has either a slightly larger grip or something with a cushioned grip because of my arthritis.
I’m also looking for product recommendations that I can use to help prevent my hair from tangling so badly or at least make tangles easier/smoother to remove.

Any advice is welcome! Thank you all so much!

Easy Grip Hairbrush Reccomendations?

Hey everyone! I have been in a flare over the past week and my hair is just completely in knots because I’ve been unable to grip my hairbrush. Does anyone know of a good paddle brush with a thick grip? Bonus points if it has that gel cushioning on the handle.
I’ll also take advice on any products you use to help prevent your hair from getting tangled in the first place if you have any.

I can’t find exactly what I’m looking for, so hoping someone knows a good one so I can avoid this in the future.

What Do You Take/Do For Pain?

What do you guys take for your pain? What works and what doesn’t? If you work, how do you get through it? Especially if you have axial involvement!

I have been a stay at home mom instead of working because my pain is so bad. Now that I’m on a biologic and thinking towards my kids starting school, I feel well enough that my desire to go back to my interest field has returned, but I’m not well enough to handle it physically in reality. I’m hopeful that I can find the right treatments to help, but I’m just not sure what to do or how to talk to my doctor. I use naproxen/aleve, voltaren, and sometimes lidocaine cream. They take the edge off if I stop and rest with them, but they are not enough to sustain me through a hospital shift.

Any advice is welcome!

Am I right to feel this way or am I catastrophizing?

So, for context, I was diagnosed with a rare condition called hepatic adenomatosis. It means that I have more than 10 adenomas (benign tumors) all over my liver. Right now, mine are fairly small, which reduces my immediate risk. However, while the risk increases with the size of the adenomas, they all have risk of rupture/hemorrhage and of becoming cancerous. There isn’t really a treatment for this condition. It’s just a monitor with MRI every 6 months situation and, if it becomes clinically indicated (they become much larger or riskier) then I can have surgery to recess the bad one(s).

Here’s the issue: I feel like my doctors are treating this like it’s no big deal. I understand that they can’t really do anything about it and I generally like my doctors, but I’d still appreciate if the attitude wasn’t blasé. I get dull pain in my RUQ. My liver is also 20cm (very large, most are 10-15cm and I’m only 5’3”), and this causes me to have increased and disruptive heartburn and trouble taking deep breaths because there’s just no space for my diaphragm and lungs to expand fully. And, while the risks associated are still relatively low, I do worry about the adenomas growing or having a problem with them as they are. I was also planning on having more kids, but my doctor warned that high estrogen can make them grow rapidly and I’d have to see a high risk specialist if I did, so I’m disappointed and considering changing my plans.

Tl;dr: I feel like this is a pretty significant condition to be affected with, especially at only 26 years old, and I feel a little unseen by my doctors who talk about it like it’s fine.
Am I catastrophizing about this condition or is my doctor being too clinical and not considering how it’s affecting me?

Rosacea and/or Facial Redness with Enbrel? Sensitivity?

Has anybody experienced new or worsening redness on their face after starting Enbrel? I never really had rosacea before, but it started a week or so after starting Enbrel (along with making my skin much more sensitive, had to change products). I’m 4 months in and it’s only worsened since then.

So, I’m wondering if anyone else had changes like this too. What made it better if you did? I’m thinking about adding azelaic acid serum to my skincare for morning.

What color is this?

I’ve been told that my eyes are green, hazel, and that it’s central heterochromia. I don’t know what the correct answer is. I’ve always just said green 🤷‍♀️

Having A Positive Influence

Every week, I take multiple at home injections for my conditions and my 2 year old son often watches me do them. He calls them my “owie medicines” and I tell him, “Yep. Because it’s a quick little owie to give me medicine and make me feel better. It’s not too bad.” I didn’t think much of it, but today he had to get his blood drawn at the doctor’s office and he was very calm and understanding about it for his age. It was quick and easy and he didn’t even cry or squirm. He just said, “Owie medicine like Mommy!”
Maybe it’s just his temperament, but it’s nice to think that seeing me take these medicines so often took some of the fear of needles and doctors away from my son so he wouldn’t have anxiety about doing these kinds of things himself. I’m really proud of him!

Has Anyone Had Relief From Botox?

My neurologist has been heavily suggesting botox for my migraines, but I’m a little hesitant. Has anyone on here tried it? Has it helped? Does it really prevent aura and hemiplegia or just the head pain?

Also- What medication/treatment DOES work for you?

Thanks in advance!

Health & Fitness

What are you guys doing to be fit? Especially curious if and how you all work out. The only thing I find tolerable for my joints is swimming and its just not realistic for me because there isn’t a pool nearby that I can use. Everything else I’ve tried makes me flare for a couple of days.
Do you guys have any tools/items you use to help make traditional exercise more tolerable?
I’m just struggling with finding something that works for me.
Thanks!
