Any tips from recent passers for passing the VLE?

Hi, docs!

I know this has been asked a lot in this subreddit already, but I thought I'd ask again since there may be recent passers who can share updated advice. I also think having another thread could help future VLE takers who come across it. 😊

I'm currently preparing for the VLE, and honestly, I'm starting to feel overwhelmed by the amount of material to cover. My review center has already started Embryology lectures, but I'm still trying to finish Gross Anatomy, so I can't help but feel like I'm already falling behind. If anyone else experienced this during review, I'd love to hear how you managed to catch up.

A few questions:

  • Are there topics that consistently appear on the exam?
  • Any last-minute tips you wish you had known before taking the VLE?
  • How did you handle anxiety during the review period and on exam day?
  • Did you use other reviewers or was it enough to rely on the review center handouts?

Thank you so much, docs!

How do you focus on your goals while you’re in a relationship?

Problem/Goal: I’m (24F) currently preparing for my board exam this November, and I want to stay focused on studying while maintaining a healthy relationship. I’m worried being in a relationship might affect my focus.

Context:

We’ve been dating for about 3 months, and he’s also preparing for the boards. Because we’re both prioritizing our studies, we don’t see each other often and have been talking less lately. This is my first relationship, so I don’t know how to navigate these feelings.

I’ve spent most of my life focused on academics, and sometimes I wonder if part of the reason I performed well in university was because I never dated anyone before. 😂 Now that I’m in a relationship, I find myself missing him a lot and questioning whether that’s normal or if it’s becoming a distraction.

Previous Attempts: We don’t see each other very often. We check in from time to time on Messenger, but we don’t talk continuously throughout the day because. I thought having less communication would help me stay focused, but I find myself thinking about him even more and missing him throughout the day.

Is it normal to miss someone this much, especially in a first relationship? How do you stay focused on important goals without feeling lonely? Have any of you balanced a relationship and board exam preparation successfully?

I’d really appreciate any advice. Thank you! 🤍

How do you focus on your goals while being in a relationship?

Hello!

I’m (24, F) currently preparing for my board exam this November. I’ve been dating this guy for about 3 months, and he’s also preparing for the boards.

I’m doing my best to stay focused on studying, but I’ve noticed that I miss him a lot. We don’t see each other very often, and lately we’ve been talking less because we’re both prioritizing our studies. This is my first relationship, so I’m still figuring out how to navigate these feelings.

I’ve spent most of my life focused on studying. Sometimes I wonder if part of the reason I did so well in university was because I never dated anyone before. 😂

Part of me worries that this relationship might become a distraction. I don’t know if missing someone this much is normal or if I’m letting it affect my focus more than it should?

How do you stay focused on your goals without feeling lonely? Have any of you gone through something similar?

I’d really appreciate any advice. Thank you! 🤍
