How's the psychiatry dept there?
I have been allotted MD Psychiatry at Aiims Ghy
Before making my final decision, I'd really like to speak with a current Psychiatry resident (JR1/JR2/JR3) or someone who has recently graduated from the department.
I'd love to know about:
Clinical exposure and patient load
Academics and teaching
Faculty support and department culture
Emergency duties and work-life balance
Psychotherapy exposure
Research opportunities
Overall pros and cons of the department
If you're a resident, or know someone from the department, I'd be very grateful if you could comment here or DM me.
Thank you!
I woke up to my close cousin putting the doctor's day story for her husband, which is all sweet. But not once did she wish me, at one point in the past she even said she doesn't think doctors are any different. The point is I guess people who are preparing at home for neet pg after internships, taking the year off, maybe people around you forget you are a doctor too? We usually lose touch from clinical practice, and stop feeling like one on some days, I mean I did. And I'm under confident to take up a clinical branch. These mcqs, pearls, keywords live rent free in my head, but is it enough, I don't think so. Just some bs rant.
But deep down. I think really highly of my profession, cus duh, first hand experience, it is not easy. Happy doctor's day to all.
Hi, so this is my story. I had been using pure for 2 years, since june 2024 on and off. I've come across genuine guys among some manipulative liars as well. Eod we know it's a hook up app, but there are so many guys who pretend to be looking for sth else yet they all want to get into your panties but they won't say that straight out to your face. Anyway last year dec, I met one guy who was really sweet and genuine, he's still a friend, things didn't work out between us cus of distance, and another guy who became a good friend too and had been in touch since 2 years but things didn't end up well between us ig and back in April, I found someone w whom things are going really well, we have met and spent time together. Ig good thing before devils bone got banned cus I found my match, ig lucky me
Also I feel I've talked to more than a hundred people in the last 2 years on pure. The experience has been fun and I'd say the devils bone stand out the most among all dating apps. And taking it off means less users from India. Deep down I feel everyone using pure were lonely and wanted a judgement free space to vent, that's how I saw it. I hope I never have to get back on that app, cus eventually it turns out to be unhealthy as well like any other dating apps, an endless loop of swiping profiles
I was getting a patho seat in PGI Chandigarh in mock, but just now i submitted the list of choices and removed patho, cus deep down I felt I won't be satisfied with lab work and no patient interaction that is my personal choice, I talked to a few patho people and while talking to them i realised they were genuinely interested in patho whereas i was seeing it as a way out of this rat race but I feel I should give an honest attempt in neet pg cus that was the reason I took a year off, idk if how my decision will turn out to be but yea that is it
Did I make the right decision?
So the mock counselling results were out, and I'm getting patho there but I'm reconsidering, I've heard few departments in PGI are toxic ( hearsay no idea really) can anyone pls help preferably some senior working in PGI, also regarding work hours and leaves
I'm looking for a study partner. If serious dm.

The guy I'm seeing and I had our first major values-related disagreement and I'm not sure if I'm overthinking it.
For context, we've been talking for about 4 months. Overall he's been kind, consistent, supportive, listens when I raise concerns, and recently even spent hours building a study app for me to help with my exam preparation. So this isn't about a pattern of disrespect.
The argument started when we were discussing marriage traditions. I said that I would never touch my husband's feet as part of a ritual because, personally, I see marriage as a partnership of equals. I'm perfectly happy touching the feet of elders like parents and grandparents, but touching a husband's feet feels different to me and goes against my values.
He disagreed. He said he sees it as a tradition and a gesture of respect, not submission. He said he personally wouldn't care whether I did it or not, but he felt my reasoning was negative because I was viewing it through the lens of ego and inequality. At one point he said men and women are not equal in every sense, mentioning biological differences and also bringing up legal and social issues where he feels men are disadvantaged.
What upset me wasn't the tradition itself so much as the feeling that we might have fundamentally different views about equality in relationships.
Afterward, he apologized for hurting me and has been trying to make things right.
My question is: am I treating a disagreement about a tradition as a bigger red flag than it actually is? Or is this the kind of conversation that reveals deeper incompatibilities about values and gender roles?
Would especially appreciate perspectives from people in long-term relationships or marriages who have navigated differences in beliefs and traditions.
TL;DR: My boyfriend and I had an argument about the tradition of a wife touching her husband's feet. I see it as unequal and against my values, while he sees it as a harmless tradition and sign of respect. He says he wouldn't force me to do it, but the discussion expanded into gender roles and equality, which left me wondering whether we have a deeper incompatibility in values. He later apologized for hurting me. Am I overthinking one disagreement, or is this the kind of thing people should pay close attention to early in a relationship?
