Hickory?

I’m aware the leaves on ground are oak, there were several oaks and seemingly 1 hickory downed and I found them on FB marketplace next day. Tons of leaves and branches that were verifiably hickory, just none attached to the trunk that I could find. The ID apps keep telling me oak of sorts but this was the only feasible option to be hickory out of what was downed from what I can tell.

New bar and chain for Stihl 025?

Hey all, received a mostly immaculate 025 from my gramps recently. Only mostly immaculate because the bar and chain have definitely seen some miles. (Pictured) Currently sporting 18”/.325. Definitely replacing bar and chain, but I’m debating whether I should go down to a 16” or stick with 18”. Currently comparing 3005 008 7017 and 3005 000 4713 and their respective chains, but I’m kind of new to “real” chainsaws and getting a little bogged down in the details.

Any thoughts or advice?

Anyone tried the Equalizer pommel from BuhurtTech?

Just bought one, super excited for it to come in. Plan to put it on a slip through axe handle to give me a bit of a palmswell and to counter balance as it’s quite a heavy axe.

Just wanted to see if anyone else had tried it out!

What happened to my moss?

Got this moss a few days ago, let it float in my tank until i had time to lower the water level so i could attach to driftwood. Got busy so it had to hang out floating in the tank for a few days, now it’s like 90% yellow. My guess is that it was too close and the light cooked it, but just need a second opinion.

Best DIY SAB plans?

Hello friends, I’m wanting to make a SAB using PVC frame, but unsure how I should go about enclosing/wrapping it other than just using thick plastic sheeting. I couldn’t find replacements for similar retail versions, or I’d just get one of those but I have a strong suspicion the plastic will cloud over time, or potentially get holes, and I don’t want to re-buy the whole thing if I just need to replace the covering.

I would really like to go this route opposed to the large clear tub with arm holes, as I’ve done that in the past, and I really don’t prefer it. It takes up too much space when not in use, and this is just a “kitchen table for the weekend” kind of hobby for me.

Any thoughts? Basically looking for something repairable and that can be broken down for storage.

Suggestions on inline heating and mods for Aquael Midikani?

So I’ve got a 10gal I plan to heavily plant and keep a betta/shrimp in. I’d been looking for nano canisters in an effort to keep the tank completely free of equipment and I came across an Aquael Midikani 800 for free. My plan is to use a Syncra Silent 0.5 or 1.0 to drive the pump rather than the stock in-tank pump, instead I’ll have lily pipes by using step down hose couplers to attach, and I’d like to figure out an inline heating system. I am trying to keep everything besides the lily pipes outside of the tank.

  1. Any alternatives to Chihiros inline heaters? Having a hard time finding any appropriately sized/powered and with temp control.

  2. Any suggestions on lily pipe/pump replacement setup?

Wasn’t sure where else to ask, so please feel free to direct me elsewhere if appropriate, r/aquariums just doesn’t seem to be as welcoming from previous experiences.

Thoughts on my planter plans?

Open to any and all advice! I’ve got a miter saw and plan on making a “running board” to create a long section level with the base to support boards and to clamp a backstop to so I can sneak up on the first cut, then clamp the stop down for repeatability.

I’m considering counter boring all the screw holes to plug for aesthetics, but open to suggestions. Planning on 3 screws per plank, per leg to attach.

Staining with Australian timber oil, and using landscape fabric on interior.
