Do you guys also get the customers who go to the bathroom and they’re huffing and puffing just from walking around a store leisurely? Or they groan in there? I’m just confused if they’re that out of shape that they can’t walk or what. I’m on my feet 8 hours and walking around and I can guarantee i do more than most of them during that time period of them being in the store. Or they act tired at checkout. Like who’s actually tired right now? It’s me. Not you.
Every night, charlie takes the time to improve his health. He’s very dedicated.
I’m getting another one for the other crab because Charlie doesn’t share.
I had a customer who didn’t reply to my hi. Whatever. And she said “you better give me two big bags”. Which is so rude. I gave them to her and she did say thanks. I just said mhm in a high pitch which usually seems positive in my head.
She said after the transaction (they always wait until it’s over) that my customer service is not nice. I have a habit of looking at my watch when someone’s rude and act like I don’t care about them. So I did that and she went to say something I guess and I just called the next customer over and she wasn’t able to keep talking. But the point is I scanned, wrapped, bagged her items. I did my job. Being extra nice isn’t part of my job or requirement. Plus she ignored my hi.
I used to be so nice at this job but customers keep wearing me down. I can’t do it anymore. I see them as roaches now. I’m tired of being negative and hating everyone.
So this elderly grumpy woman comes up and doesn’t respond to my hi or my question if she needed a bag. Just looks at me dumbly. I automatically put the total onto the card reader because most people pay card and she somehow already knows how to cancel that out. Says “I’m paying cash” in a rude tone and tosses it on the counter. I put her change back on the counter, because if you won’t give it to me I won’t give it to you. Receipt comes and I try and hand it to her but she stands there stupid and stares at it, so I toss it on the counter and then she grabs it and throws it at me.
Karma already got her though if you look at her, she’s just an ugly miserable old person. I’m worth more than this and her. I have never in my life treated someone that way.
So I’ve worked at this place for almost a year. And I’ve worked every holiday. I forgot to ask for the Fourth of July weekend off until yesterday, so they ask you to ask 3 weeks before. I just requested. And I asked a manager who said maybe but I got scheduled anyway, I put my shift in the pool for maybe someone to grab it. I know I should have thought to do it sooner but I didn’t. Is it okay to call out if no one takes my shift? This is a temporary job for me and in a month I’ll have to quit anyway. I just want to feel less bad about calling out.
I had just gotten in trouble for giving a refund over 30 days before so I wasn’t going to make that mistake today again. And I get a refund from someone with three different receipts all on her phone on dark mode, two of them over 30 days but I wasn’t able to read because it was so dark and she wouldn’t answer my questions. Then I get to the screen to realize I can’t give all money back and have to do store credit so I exit out to redo it, and she’s angry with me and says she already told me she was on her lunch break and now I’m just wasting her time. The whole thing took maybe 5 minutes. I told her why I had to do them separately again. She had over 30 days to return these things but of course waited to do them all at once but gets mad at me. She really needed that 7$ back I guess. Personally for me If it’s under 20 dollars I just take the loss.
But she had enough time to type in her email to get the next receipt for the two returns.. maybe dont do a return on a timed lunch break? I’m glad I “wasted” her time. I just wish I didn’t freeze up and not say anything back. I’m so sick of people thinking their time is more important than mine and as if I’m nothing just because I’m doing the register.
This past holiday week I’ve gotten so many customers who will snatch the receipt and not say thank you and then leave. Even after I’m wrapping their stuff with a clearly injured (new surgical scar) hand. I haven’t had this many customers do this ever, just this holiday. Wtf is up with that? I always thank the cashiers when I shop and especially on a holiday weekend if I’m even out for some reason. They also pretend to not hear me ask if they want to sign up for rewards.
My mom is of an older generation and says I should be thanking them and that might be why they aren’t saying thanks. Why would I say thanks to a customer who doesn’t need to be here on a holiday? I get paid either way.
