theguardian.comI’m enjoying season 3 so much
I haven’t read the books so I can’t compare it to them, but I’m just really liking it so far. I’m here for the intrigue, the back and forth between Washington and the silo, Juliette’s character, I’m so invested in it. Some of the best TV since Pluribus in my opinion.
I honestly started watching without much interest, probably a lot went over my head in the first season, but I got progressively sucked in. I’ve seen a few reviews critical of the latest season, but so far I’ve not been disappointed, it just feels like it gets better and better.
I think I'm gonna have to rewatch from the beginning to see what I've missed.
TIL about the Abu Fanous, a mysterious light phenomenon observed by travellers in the Arabian desert, seen at dawn or during the night as an orb or headlight that moves unpredictably and lures people into the desert, then vanishes without a trace.
w.wikiHandwritten version of Gardiner’s sign list (if possible by the man himself)
I’m wondering if there’s some draft version of Gardiner’s sign list available somewhere, either by him or other early academics, or if someone has compiled such a list of handwritten signs from those publications. (And to clarify, I don’t mean a list of cursive or hieratic forms, but handwritten hieroglyphs as used in scholarly transcriptions)
It is disheartening how impermanent the internet actually is.
I feel like more and more often I discover a site or database I’d been using has just disappeared with little trace and all I have is dead links; the only way to access them is using the Wayback Machine, but even then it’s an incomplete record of what existed, especially with niche or specialized resources. And of course that is also under threat too.
