Mother keeps sending accidental voice notes on WhatsApp

My 77yo mom who also has dementia but is still quite well functioning keeps accidentally recording and sending whatsapp voice notes. This goes to all her frequently contacted wa contacts, even groups, and is often personal conversations. It is mortifying for me but because she has dementia she either doesn't care or doesn't understand what is happening nor the gravity of it. She uses WhatsApp frequently for messages or calls. It is such a ux problem on WhatsApp end and I've tried all chat gpt recommended solutions but nothing is working.

Just a rant in case anyone can relate!

Lack of road discipline is appalling, will it ever get better?

Having moved out of Sri Lanka a few years, I honestly miss my island home a lot. Love coming back here. But one thing that is getting so much worse (or maybe it's more noticeable after a break) is the lack of road discipline. I know we think being able to drive here means you can drive anywhere, but now I realise it isn't the flex it once was. After more than a decade of driving here, I had to redo my driving ed and take the test to get my DL in new country. I honestly learned how people are supposed to correctly enter and exit a roundabout only then! Coming back and driving here, I see why. Absolutely no adherence to any sort of road rules, even stopping at the red light means you are way beyond the white line, road rage, jaywalking, etc etc the list goes on. It is super stressful and exhausting.

Not dissing SL after leaving but it is sad and frustrating to witness the difference. We may be super warm and friendly and generous as a people, but all I see on the roads is selfishness, indiscipline, and an utter lack of consideration for others. Will it ever get better? How? I hope and pray it somehow miraculously will.

Wearing white for mourning

Do people still do this, esp the current generations? I remember my mom wore white for about 6 months and then light colours for another 6 when her dad died. She tells me that it isn't necessary for me to ever do that but I feel like it would be a nice way to honour the memory. People barely wear white to the temple now so was wondering if this would seem attention seeking somehow...

Nobody has died yet! 🙏🏾 but was just wondering about current traditions around death in sri lanka

So much sadness at what's to come

I'm (42F) an only child and extremely close to my mom (76) even though we don't have the ideal rship. She's always been fiercely there for me and sacrificed a lot for my happiness. Around the time I moved countries (with my husband and kids) was when our rship was at its worst, probably because she was angry and sad that I was leaving, which wasn't something she ever expected. Looking back now it was probably the start of her symptoms because she would change her word often, which I misunderstood and it would lead to huge fights. Over the past few years her memory has gotten worse, and although she is still pretty social and independent, she also gets confused a lot and forgets many short term events. She is also running the household and caring for my ageing dad, with hired help.

I've been reading up on this illness, on this forum and other sources, and judging by what her friends have told me and what we've personally observed, I just know it is a diagnosis away. And every time I talk to her, another penny drops because now I keep noticing more and more things. We still have great conversations, and our rship even feels improved as she is more loving and less critical, but it is so hard to coordinate anything remotely as she keeps forgetting my instructions (example is, I'm trying to sublet a room in their house and she might tell the potential tenant something very different to what I've discussed with them). It is heartbreaking as I know how smart she is and how hard she is trying to patch up the gaps.

I've been feeling so heavy in my heart and there's so.much grief at watching this person I love change. My dad is old and physically frail and that's making me sad too but atlwast he has his wits about him. Whereas, I cannot have an in depth conversation with my mom about myself or my life or kids anymore because she would have forgotten the next time we speak.

I know I'm not alone and I've even read past posts and discussions about this on this subreddit. But when does it get better? How do I make up my mind to be braver about this? Feeling super fragile rn.

(PS- I have been seeing a therapist but sometimes it makes me feel worse, knowing what to do and still feelings sad. And I have been on meds before but it's not a route I want to go down again just yet)

Why did Carol order so many jamba juices to the point of it breaking the bank when she could have just nursed one (or two even!) till Clark showed up?

Just finished the show today, so brilliant and sad, but this scene amused me!
