EDF SEG application – backdated export payments?

EDF SEG application – backdated export payments?

I had my solar and battery installed last week and took a photo of my export meter on installation day, which was reading 000.
I’ve exported around 200kWh already, but I can’t apply for the SEG tariff with EDF until I get the paperwork from my installer next week.
I’ve seen that EDF asks for a photo of the meter reading as part of the application, but I’m not sure whether it needs to be taken on the day I apply, or whether my installation-day photo showing 000 will be enough, or if it doesn’t matter either way.
Does anyone know if EDF will backdate export payments to the installation date, or will I lose out on the electricity I’ve already exported? And will they be able to tell how much I’ve exported since installation?
Would be good to hear from anyone who’s been through the same process!

EDF Power Perks – are the 4 free hours actually worth it with solar and battery storage?

Anyone else on EDF GoElectric with solar, a battery and an EV?
Im signed up to Flextras and got the 4 free hours to use, but I’m not sure it’s even worth bothering with
I’ve got a 9kWh home battery which is normally topped up overnight on the off peak rate and full from solar during the day, and a PHEV with an 18.5kWh battery.
I pay 6.66p overnight, so it costs me about 60p to fill the home battery and around £1 to put 16kWh in the car.
The only way I can see to make the free hours worthwhile is to get lucky with a cloudy day, have a empty home battery and have the car plugged in (and empty) when the hours are running. Otherwise, the solar will do its thing and I won’t import anything from the grid anyway.
Feels like a lot of faff to save an absolute best of £1.60🤣
Anyone in a similar position found a decent way to make use of the free hours, or am I missing something?

EDF Power Perks + Sigenergy. anyone actually doing this?

I’ve just started getting EDF Power Perks events and this weekend I’ve got a pretty ridiculous amount of free electricity, 26 hours in total over the weekend.

Once my Sigenergy is installed, I’m wondering whether there’s an opportunity to make proper use of these events.

My thinking is:
Power Perks event → charge battery from grid → once battery is full, export → discharge battery → charge again while the electricity is still free → repeat.

I’ve got a Bat10, 12kW inverter and full 12kW G99 export approval, so theoretically I’ve got plenty of export capability. Obviously I know the normal economics of charging at 6.66p and exporting at 13p, but during a Power Perks event the import is effectively being credited back, which changes the maths quite a bit.

Has anyone with a Sigenergy actually tried this during an EDF Power Perks event?
Does the Sigen AI/EMS allow you to manually force grid charging and then export/discharge during the event, or does it fight you?
And more importantly, has anyone actually watched their EDF import/export readings to confirm that the free import and subsequent export can both happen without causing any issues with the tariff/SEG?

Would be interested to hear from anyone already doing this before I start trying to turn my house into a tiny power station.

Anyone else just got this?

Anyone else just got this text as well? Already making the most of the free electric today between 4am-4pm. Not a clue how this power perks works but I’ll take it if it carries on like this, 26 hours over 2 days isn’t bad going.

Has anyone compared their own PVGIS estimate with their installer’s generation forecast?

I’m currently in the process of getting quotes for a solar + battery system and I’ve done something I’m now wondering if other people have tried, I ran my own PVGIS calculation using the actual panel orientation, roof pitch and location, and compared it with the installer’s figures.

The system I’m looking at is:
23 × 490W Aiko panels
11.27 kWp
35° roof pitch
6.86 kWp on ENE
4.41 kWp on WSW
10 kWh Sigenergy battery (8.76 kWh usable)
12 kW inverter

The installer has estimated annual generation at 9,627 kWh.
I then ran PVGIS myself using the same location, 35° pitch and panel split, and got approximately 10,442 kWh/year.

That’s about 815 kWh (8.5%) higher than the installer’s headline figure.
Here’s where it gets more interesting: the installer has also provided a monthly generation forecast. When I add their individual monthly figures together, I get approximately 9,241 kWh, which doesn’t even quite match their stated 9,627 kWh annual figure.

I’m not assuming the installer is wrong or doing anything dodgy, their figure could deliberately include more conservative assumptions/losses than the standard PVGIS calculation.

So I’m curious about other people’s experiences:
Have you run your own PVGIS report before/after getting a quote?
How close was it to the installer’s predicted generation?
Were the installer figures higher, lower or roughly the same?
If the installer was lower, did they explain what additional losses/assumptions they were applying?
And most importantly, did your actual generation eventually match PVGIS, the installer’s estimate, or somewhere in between?

I’m particularly interested in whether it’s normal industry practice for installers to deliberately underestimate generation to give themselves a conservative figure, or whether an ~8–10% difference should make me investigate the assumptions more closely.

For reference, I’m in the UK and the PVGIS report is using the actual roof orientations rather than just assuming an ideal south-facing roof.

Would be really interested to hear from anyone who’s done the same comparison.

Can I get a quote check please £11,740

Got my final quote this morning and had a in person appointment rather than google maps guessing game, which was refreshing to talk to an human, and being a local firm they seem to be slightly cheaper, with the biggest system I’ve been quotes in terms of PV array.

My theory behind looking into this initially was to charge the battery overnight on off peak rate (6.66pkWH) then discharge the battery for household use during peak hours.
All solar generated to be sold back to the grid to get some pennies back faster. Anyone do similar?

Plan is to run what ever system I go with for 12 months then look at adding battery storage if I need it.

Looking at getting the following. Anyone got similar? What did it cost? Just waiting on quotes

Property Details: 4-Bed Detached House.
Current Usage Profile: Average ~500 kWh/month, peaking up to 35 kWh on high-demand days.
Current Tariff: EDF EV Tariff (23:00 - 06:00 off-peak window).
Requested System Specification:
Solar Array: ~5.5kW to 6kW solar panel setup.
Battery Capacity: 20kW+ total storage capacity (e.g., a 4x modular stack or a dual-unit system) to fully cover our high-peak days via overnight tariff arbitrage.
Inverter Type: High-discharge hybrid inverter capable of fast-charging the entire battery bank within our 7-hour off-peak window.

It’s all new to me so this is just what I’d like, what panels are best performing and highly rated? I thinking about putting the batteries stacked in the carport as don’t have a garage. Is this feasible?

Sorry for all the questions, any advice is appreciated 😁

Why the stark difference?

I planted these 2 multi blue brought from the same nursery at exactly the same time, in the same hole and obviously have been caring for both identically. What reasons could the one on the right not be growing and all the leaves are turning purple/black? The one on the left has shot up a few feet. Not sure if the right one is dead/dying and it best just to uproot it and leave the healthy one on its own. Any advice or insight welcome. Thank you!

Will wildflowers grow under the trampoline

I moved into a new build last September, with newly laid turf. The kids have a trampoline in the corner and I’ve not got the space to keep moving it around. Since it’s been there the grass underneath grows a lot quicker than the rest of the lawn along with some flowers and lots of clover, and the odd mushroom 🤷🏻‍♂️ I thought it would be a nice idea to make a feature of it (or at least attempt to 😂) and I’ve always liked the idea of a meadow type area in the garden. Would it work and survive under the trampoline in dappled shade? the area of the garden gets full sun. I assumed the grass would die off but it seems to be doing the opposite. Got clay soli under the top soil if that makes a difference. After talking with Gemini, it’s suggested to scarify and throw down some wildflower seed mix, followed by Yellow Rattle in September when the temperatures drop.

Has anyone done similar? Will I be wasting my time?

What’s going wrong?

All my cameras are suddenly refusing to playback and clips, can view them live fine and keep getting notifications for events with screen shots, but when I go to look either on the event tab or playback on each individual camera, it’s not loading and I’m getting error messages. Anyone experiencing similar? I’ve deleted and reinstalled the app, didn’t really want to get the ladder out to reset each camera as I’m assuming it’s another issue, could it be the Homebase?

Can I balance transfer back and forth between 2 cards for longest 0% interest rate?

I’ve got some offers for balance transfers currently on a couple of my cards. One is @ 0% for 12 months (card 2) and the other is @ 0% for 21 months (card 1) If I transfer my balance from card 1 to card 2, can I then transfer back to card 1 to get the 0% for the 21 months?
