I put this bush clematis in a few years ago, just to see what it was like. Well, this is its year to shine, apparently! (cat tax included)
Anyone know the name of this variety? I found her at Costco last spring.
I started with 2 small plants 5 years ago, zone 6a. There is a second trellis under the big one it had completely overgrown.
Planted this year, I bought the nelly moser kind, but it doesn’t really look how it’s supposed to. Still very pretty tho. could it be because it is its’ first ever bloom or is it actually a different variety?
Holy cow I can't find a single picture online of 'niobe' to show its true color. This photo doesn't do it justice, its one of those you have to see in person. It's much darker, pretty near black when just opening and appears quite velvety. I thought the photos were kind of meh but costco had plugs for cheap. Very excited to see this in future seasons growing next to my solid white miss Bateman
I’m going to replace this trellis behind the tree with something attached to the wall. This area is pretty much shaded all day in the summer and gets maybe a little bit of dappled sunlight in the afternoon.
I’ve checked out brushwick nursery’s website and filtered by these specs but didn’t turn up many results, so I was just curious if anyone here had any opinions?
Thanks!

a few years ago i planted 3 clematis in a veggie container / rectangle pot, and they’ve all lived in harmony since. I enjoy when they pop up late spring cause i’m not sure who’s gonna bloom first. To the far right is a darker rich red, middle small pink /fuchsia colored, and of course the great multi blue near the left which i nicknamed “Starmie” from Pokémon.
Newly planted in the ground, zone 3b.
Trellis is not tall enough to support additional growth. Should I trim the new growth and then continue to do so throughout the season?
The first few are: Hagley Hybrid, Dr. Ruppel, Rooguchi, Sea Breeze (?), Tie Dye (what a unique looking clematis!) and Venosa Violacea. After that I have no idea, but how beautiful are they? I look forward to seeing them every year. Please let me know if you recognise any!
