What type of arrow insert is on the right? I ordered Easton Axis 5mm 400 arrows and it came with the inserts on the left but I need the ones on the right.

My family friend who is giving me his bow said to get carbon express maxima red 400 5mm arrows (9.4 gpi). Is there any significant difference between the 5mm and the carbon express maxima red SD arrows (8.7 gpi)? The SDs are on sale for like half the price…

A family friend gave me a really nice old bow of his since he heard I was getting into bow hunting. How do I show my appreciation? He doesn’t drink so I can’t buy him some nice wine or whiskey. Any ideas?
Like the title says, I’m new to bow hunting and need to buy a full setup. How much should I expect to have to spend if I look for a used bow from an archery shop who can set me up with all my measurements? I don’t need the lightest or fanciest bow, just something effective.
Bit of background. I have very hard acidic well water. We had a new softener and acid neutralizer installed when we bought our house. We also have a sediment filter with a .5 micron filter installed. However, when we get heavy rain (3+ inches in a few days) our water turns yellowy tan. We have a shallow well of 100 ft which is susceptible to tannins getting in when the water table gets disturbed. Is there anything we could add to our system to take care of the tannins without removing the softener and neutralizer?
As much as we hate on Hoffman’s they are cheaper than most shops in the state. Are there any shops that price match? I’d rather give my business to the smaller guys but sometimes their prices are 10-20% higher than Hoffman’s.
