The universe is so cruel...

Came across this amazing deal on FBMP. Chatted with the seller and he was going to throw in 4 2s gens ace batteries, original motor and esc, and max 10 combo. Great deal right? I thought so too! So > started my drive to the bank. On my way, truck in front of me swerved to avoid something in the road, but I didn't see it soon enough. Put a small hole in the front tire and lifted the object vertical to blow out my rear. So instead of getting a new toy and a bunch of goodies for 200, I get to use that plus a bunch to get new rubbers for my big boy car! The universe has such a cruel way of sending messages...

Tyler got a makeover!

You can see the before and after lol we had used it ad a chase lead for my girlfriend's dog and even she told me I need to get a new body so I did! It was a bit intimidating cutting out my first body, but I think it looks pretty damn good. Obviously still got to put the stickers on, but he looks better than he did before even before the stickers!

Just looking for outside input

Looking for some opinions before I pull the trigger on my next RC.

A little background: I've been in the hobby for a few months now, and my current fleet consists of an Arrma Typhon 3S ("Tyler"), an Omni Terminator ("Tate"), and a Serpent Cobra Truggy ("Cinder"). All three have Hobbywing electronics. Tyler and Tate are running 10BL120 ESCs with 3660 motors, while Cinder has an 8BL150 and a 4274 motor.

Up until now I've been almost exclusively into off-road bashing, but lately I've found myself wanting something that's more at home in parking lots, cul-de-sacs, and on-road drifting.

Here's where I'm at. Cinder has honestly been a headache since I bought it. I've dealt with a fried ESC, a seized motor, a locked-up servo, and now ongoing differential issues. At this point I'm considering retiring it from regular use instead of continuing to throw time and money at it.

That got me thinking about the refurbished Team Associated SR7 Hoonicorns that are currently selling for around $325. From what I've read, they're complete except for the ESC because of the Reedy ESC recall.

My thought is to pick one up, install the 8BL150 ESC from Cinder while running the stock SR7 motor, and let Cinder become more of a shelf queen and parts donor if I ever need it. Down the road, if I want more power, I already have the 4274 motor available as well.

So here's my question: if you were in my position, would you jump on the SR7 at that price, or would you go a different direction? Are there any other on-road, GT, or rally platforms in that same price range that you'd recommend instead? If you already had a good ESC and motor sitting on the shelf, what would you build?

Final build of Tate the Terminator!

Got some new tires on Tate and I think he's all done. Even on 2s, he still gets to about 40mph, undriveable on 3s lol custom 3d printed mount for 10BL120 ESC between the chassis bars, Arrma 3660 3200kv BLX motor with 28t pinion, 14kg high speed low profile servo on aluminum servo mount, Red Spider Night Driving 100mm wheels, Traxxas Slash blue springs on rear, stock rear springs moved to front shocks, Flysky FS A3 receiver running off Flysky FS GT5 radio. Absolute blast and I don't know why I waited so long to get one of these!

Tomorrow is Father's Day and tonight I just hurt

I don't even know what the fuck I'm looking for by posting this. Advice? Maybe. Perspective? Maybe. Or maybe I just need to get it out of my head because I'm exhausted from carrying it around tonight.

I'm 11 months into a 12-month separation and I thought I'd be doing better than this by now. Most days I am. Most days I go to work, go to class, handle my responsibilities, talk to my girlfriend, work on my hobbies, and keep moving forward. Most days I can convince myself I'm okay.

Then I have nights like tonight. Nights where something small triggers a thought, and that thought triggers another one, and before I know it I'm sitting in the dark trying to make sense of fifteen years of my life. Trying to understand what was real. Trying to understand what wasn't. Trying to understand why I spent so many years believing that if I just loved harder, worked harder, sacrificed more, communicated better, and accepted more blame, things would eventually get better.

Because that's what I did. For fifteen years. I supported dreams that weren't mine. I worked jobs I hated. I paid bills. I carried stress. I accepted responsibility for problems that weren't entirely mine. I convinced myself that being a good husband meant giving more, being more understanding, being more patient, and asking for less in return. And every time something hurt, every time something felt unfair, every time I felt unwanted, neglected, dismissed, or alone, I found a way to explain it away.

Because that's what you do when you're committed. You tell yourself things will get better. You tell yourself relationships go through rough patches. You tell yourself that if you just keep showing up, eventually it'll matter. And maybe that's the part that's fucked me up the most lately.

Realizing how long I kept showing up. Realizing how much of myself I poured into something that I genuinely believed would last forever. Realizing how many years I spent blaming myself for things that probably weren't mine to carry alone.

And then I look around now. I'm fighting to see my daughter. I'm missing moments I can never get back. I'm missing holidays. I'm missing milestones. Tomorrow is Father's Day and I won't get to spend it with the person who made me a father in the first place.

And that fucking hurts. Way more than I want to admit. Because people talk about divorce like it's losing a spouse. Nobody talks enough about what it feels like to lose access to your everyday life with your child.

Nobody talks about what it's like to go from hearing "Daddy" every day to hearing it whenever someone else decides you're allowed to. Nobody talks about sitting there wondering what memories are being made while you're not there. What jokes you're missing. What stories you're missing. What moments are slipping away that you'll never get back.

People say, "Just focus on yourself." I do. People say, "Move on." I'm trying. People say, "The best revenge is living well." Okay. But none of that changes the fact that there are moments where I would trade every hobby, every accomplishment, every fucking penny, every bit of personal growth just to spend a normal afternoon with my daughter.

And then my brain starts asking questions I know I'll probably never get answers to. Questions about the past. Questions about why things happened the way they did. Questions about whether I was seeing reality clearly or whether I spent years believing in a version of my marriage that only existed in my head. And I hate those questions because they never lead anywhere. There is no magic answer waiting for me. No final piece of information that's suddenly going to make everything make sense. Just more questions. More loose ends. More shit I'll probably carry for a long time.

I was talking to my girlfriend tonight and the best way I could describe it was this:

I feel like a gladiator standing in an arena. Not a victorious one. Not a hero. Just a guy who's been fighting for so long that he's forgotten what life feels like outside the fight. And the fucked up part is looking into the stands and feeling like everyone else already knew things I didn't. Like everyone else got the map. Everyone else got the instructions. Everyone else got the warning signs. And somehow I was the last person to figure out what was happening in my own life.

Maybe that's not true. Maybe it's just the grief talking. Maybe it's Father's Day. Maybe it's the fact that I'm approaching the end of this separation period and realizing that the finality of it all is starting to become real.

I don't know.

I just know that tonight I miss my daughter. I miss the future I thought I was building. I miss the person I was before all of this happened.

And for the first time in a long time, I'm tired. Not physically tired. Soul tired. A tired so deep to my core that nobody understands unless you've been there before and have the t-shirt from the fucking gift shop. The kind of tired that comes from carrying questions that don't have answers. The kind of tired that comes from loving people who no longer have a place for you in their lives. The kind of tired that comes from watching a life you spent fifteen years building continue without you.

Maybe tomorrow will be better. Tonight just hurts. If you have any advice to get through these hard times, I would be interested in what you have to say. I know this was a bit of a novel, so if you made it this far, thank you. Thank you for reading. For supporting me through these hard times. For taking the time out of your day to see that you aren't the only one. Whatever your reason is, I thank you.

Tate's body painted

So, I got the Omni Terminator body painted. First RC body I've painted and I'm really happy with how it looks. Simple paint job maybe, but blue is my favorite color and the blue with black accessories just looks really sharp. Would've been able to do the maiden run today, but when I powered it up, I found out the old servo I had on the shelf was dead. Got one coming tomorrow and I'll take a Pic of the final setup I've got. For those who didn't see my other posts, I got the Rlaarlo Omni Terminator carbon fiber roller. I had an extra 10BL120 ESC, 3660 3200kv Arrma BLX motor with 26t pinion, had to get a new FS A3 receiver and finally, got a 14kg .08s@6v servo. I ended up 3d printing a stand to go between the chassis braces to hold the ESC, soldered 4mm banana plugs onto some 10awg motor cables for the extensions, installed the aluminum servo mount for a full size servo, and modified the battery box to hold the 2s 5000mah Spektrum battery and eventually, a 3s 7600mah Ovonic hard case. Really excited to see what it can do. BTW, I went with the name Tate in regards to the T800 robot from the movie Terminator. Went with that theme because, just like the robot, Tate is a chassis with a bunch of random, overstock, overpowered parts being thrown into it lol. Let me know what you guys think of the body and I'll post pics of the final build tomorrow when I get the servo installed!

Struggling with STBXW issues

I'm going to make a very long story as short as I can.

My STBXW and I have a 5-year-old daughter. We've been separated for 11 months. At my daughter's pre-K graduation, I found out not only that she has another man around my daughter, but that he's involved enough to be in family pictures with her.

Under normal circumstances, I understand people move on. What makes this so hard is that since I left the house, I've only seen my daughter in person seven times and have only had a handful of FaceTime calls beyond that. Meanwhile, my wife has repeatedly told me that I'm not allowed to have any women around our daughter, or even a girlfriend's pets around her. Yet she has another man living in the house (assuming on this one) before our divorce is even finalized.

Financially, I'm still paying for everything: the mortgage, utilities, phones, and even her car payment. I know a lot of people will say I should stop, but if I don't pay those bills, my daughter is the one who suffers when her lazy ass ends up getting them put on the streets. My attorney has advised me that since I can afford it, continuing to pay will likely have a positive outlook on me when the court looks at alimony and child support.

To make matters worse, she still hasn't responded to my attorney's discovery requests after almost 60 days. My attorney is now looking into filing motions to compel compliance.

I don't know. Maybe I just needed to get this off my chest. It's hard as hell watching another guy spend time with my kid when I can barely see her myself.

What do you all think?

Got an idea...

So I have an interesting idea, but need some help working out the details. I have a 1/8 typhon mega I converted to 3s brushless a while back. Came into an issue the last couple weeks where the esc was hitting thermal shutdown. Thinking the capacitors were going bad or something, I ordered a new 10bl120 to replace it. When I was bashing yesterday, motor locked up. After inspecting the motor, I found the shaft bearing had fallen apart. Ordered new bearings but started looking for new motors just in case, and I came across a 3660 3200kv blx motor on amazon for 38 after sales and coupons. I was thinking it was the esc this whole time and it may have just been the motor overloading the esc! Got a new bearing installed today and gonna run it tomorrow.

Finally, onto my question. I now have a spare 10bl120 and a 3660 3200kv blx motor sitting in my toolbox collecting dust. Are there any budget bashers that I can get and throw these beasts into? I was looking at the Maverick Quantum 2 MT. Comes stock with a 540 motor and it seems like it would be easy enough to modify the receiver box for the extra length of the can. I want to get a cheaper 1/10 or 1/12 so I don't feel bad if I toast the diffs or something early on, but I also don't want to have to modify the entire tub for "more power!" (Insert Kevin Talbot voice lol) What ideas do the /rccars gods have in mind?

Might have gone a little overkill 😆

Stock tires went bald so I went shopping. I came across these FriHobby wheels and I'm very impressed. Glue job looks really good and it just grabs right away. If I was more comfortable with it, Cinder could probably do a standing backflip. These tires may have made it a bit wider than I intended, but it will also offset the traction roll if i turn at speed. Definitely check these out if you're in the market for new tires!

Might be getting in trouble lol

Came across this on marketplace and wanted to get some input. Claims max8 esc, thought I can't really confirm or deny. Leopard racing 4282 2000kv motor with dual mesh screen motor fans, exb model, and come with an extra body. At 425 it seems like a steal if the truck runs smooth (diffs, drive shafts, bearing noise, etc). Yeah the tires are bald, but I'll spend the money for a nice set of prolines for this thing, but what do yall think?

M/36/6' [235>187=42lbs] (9mos) My last year

Separated from my wife July 2025 and got back in the gym shortly after. Weighed 235 even after a week at Disney. Started 6x/wk and recently came down to 3x/wk because I've hit my target weight and am now starting on toning more than weight loss. Before, I was almost in a 42w pant and now I'm back down to a 32w pant. I'm at a very good point mentally and self-image issues are going away. Now, I'm dating a girl who who reassures me that I do in fact look good, encourages me to go to the gym on the hard days, and helps motivate me on the easy days. I feel a lot better with my overall health, and even more so with how I look. Just wanted to share that if you put in the effort, you WILL see the results. Thanks!
