Help Deciphering Baby Sign

Hey all! We've been signing with our daughter (HoH) since she was a newborn. She's now 14 months. We have been able to interpret every one of her 40ish signs except for one and it's driving me and my husband crazy!!!

She makes the hand motion I'm making in the picture and taps her finger on her palm.

It's not "more", "read", or "medicine".

Please help us! She's a baby so cast a wide net with your answers.

She does this while playing and eating.

How can someone so small take up an entire queen sized bed?

You are 2 and half feet tall. How do you do this?

So, you admit the smocks were uncomfortable .

🥴🥴🥴

Also, maybe it's just the angle, but this dress looks really short to me.

At least she's in comfy clothes?

Please share your best at home activities.

I come to the Mommit hivemind with a request: what are your favorite at home activities? She is 13 months and fully walking.

My daughter is having her cleft palate repair surgery in one month. If she gets sick between now and then, surgery is rescheduled for much later. So we are essentially quarantining for a month. I'll be wearing a mask to work, we'll be getting grocery delivery, not seeing people, etc -- basically, life, pandemic style.

This also means: no library, no baby group, no pool, no playmates, no nothing! We are all going to get very bored very quickly so please share your favorite indoor activities.

We will still be taking her to the park and on stroller walks, but that's it. It's also hot AF where we live so we can't spend 3 hours at the park.

Slow and Steady(ish)

Hey all,

I see a lot of posts of people who are really great responders. I am so happy for them! I also know I sometimes feel discouraged when I see folks losing faster than I am.

I wanted to share my progress with y'all so there are some slower examples.

SW: 212.6 lbs (February 2026)

March: 0 lbs lost on 0.25 mg

April: -2.8 lbs on 0.5 mg

May: -5 lbs on 1.0 mg

June: -3.4 lbs on 1.0 mg

July: -5.2 lbs on 1.0 mg

CW: 196.2 lbs (-16.4lbs down in 5 months!)

I am proud of myself and also don't feel so discouraged anymore. My GW is 155lbs. I hit my first milestone of getting back under 200lbs. My next milestone is my pre-pregnancy weight (188lbs).

Flabbergasted

Parasocial relationships need to be studied. This is insane to me.

SOS, Please Someone Help Me

Please sing the title like Rihanna.

Anyway, my daughter is 11 months old, about to be a year. Her sleep has absolutely gone to hell in a way I don't see a lot of people talking about.

She cannot, for the life of her, stop moving to fall asleep.

It's like she wants to sleep, but her body cannot stay still. I have tried rocking her. I have tried letting her fall asleep on her own. She will roll, crawl, sit up, kick her legs, flail her arms, you name it. Tonight, I had to physically pin her arms and legs against me for her to finally relax and go to sleep. She had already fallen asleep twice and then spun herself awake

If you're wondering what happens when I don't intervene: This past Saturday, she kicked and spun next to me for 1.5 hours, going in and out of sleep until she burst into tears and I had to hold her against me to sleep. She was exhausted.

I do not want to pin her limbs down (no matter how gently). This doesn't feel normal. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wake windows: 3.25/3.5/4 (although with the recent struggles, it has been as long as 5).

Edit to add: this is only for going to sleep at night. Daytime naps, she's easy.

Surprisingly Sad About First Birthday

My incredible baby girl is turning 1 in a few short weeks. We have a fantastic birthday party planned with family and friends. She is healthy and thriving. Every new thing she does is magic.

And, to my surprise, I feel like crying, a lot. I'm tearing up right now. I look at her and see a little toddler emerging. But I also see the newborn who curled up on my chest.

I have a feeling I'm not alone, but I would love to hear about other moms' experiences. Also, any tips on how to not burst into tears when we sing her "Happy Birthday" are greatly appreciated. 🩷

Helping Baby get Comfy

Hi all!

Background:

My 11 month old has been a contact napper since day one. At night, she was a chest sleeper until 4 months. We've co sleeping side by side in my bed since then. We hold her to sleep.

Now:

She is showing signs of being ready to not be held to sleep/contact nap. She is taking a long time to go down, doesn't want to fall asleep on our chests, and really wants to be flat on her back.

Problem:

When I put her in her crib or lay with her in our bed, she does not do what I expect. I expect she'll sprawl out in the position she wants and go to sleep. Instead, she goes into Turbo Mode (™️)! She sits up, she crawls, she giggles!!! She gets super energized. In the crib, she just starts cruising back and forth.

Does anyone have any ideas of what to try? Has anyone experienced this before? I'm trying to honor her cues of not wanted to be held/lay out, but she needs to sleep!!!

Cow Print

In the video Drue calls it a cheetah print. She also says it's her favorite one. I love that someone called it a "cow print" for her. 🐮

I need to come to a sub where people won't immediately tell me to sleep train and just VENT!

My baby (10months) is SO clingy while she's sleeping that I actually am starting to get touched out. I will roll away and IN HER SLEEP she will lurch around the bed to find me. She is relentless. She will grab my shirt so tightly it's like she's trying to keep me there.

Most nights she gives me anywhere from 30-40 min at a time after I roll away before I have to come back and settle her. Tonight it was 17, after 45 minutes of trying to escape.

Please let me know if you had/have a baby as clingy as mine and when they stopped needing to physically be touching you to sleep. I'm really struggling today. I just want an hour to myself where no one is touching me.
