One of the most unique sounding guitars I own. The bare rosewood neck allows the tone to cut through in an almost chime like way. Pull pot allows me to cover a LOT of ground with this one. One of my favorite PRS guitars!
Bought this one new in '14. Built in the Japanese Terada factory. Went in looking for a Gibson 335 and noticed this on the other end of the store. Didn't take long to hand the 335 back on the wall and walk out with this one! Still can't understand why Gretsch discontinued these. Has a perfect spot between my White Falcon and Jets.
I purchased this guitar in 1990 from a mutual friend of Kevin Griffin of Better Than Ezra. We all grew up in the same town and supposedly this was a guitar Kevin offloaded before the band blew up. Became my main guitar for nearly 15 years after that.
In the mid 2000's I decided to sell it to a coworker for cash towards another guitar. Shortly afterwards, I had instant sellers remorse. Unfortunately the buyer had moved away for Med School. Fast forward to 2014 and I actually ran into him in the hospital, now a practicing doctor in our hometown. A quick, "great to see you!" was followed by, "please tell me you still have my Les Paul....". That evening, I paid him back the same $$ I originally sold it to him for. Hard lesson learned and so incredibly lucky to have gotten her back.
Last year, I had Joey Glaser in Nashville refret her and she plays as good as ever! Side note, in 1988 Gibson was under new management and some of the remaining "3 piece tops" were still being used from the Norlin era.
As a huge Billy Duffy fan, this is probably my most prized guitar. The black filtertrons sound amazing and the playability is just out of this world. Supposedly, only 200 of these were made. Got lucky a few months ago and found one of only two listed that were still sitting unsold in the US.
Been on the fence for a SG for some time, however Ive never found one that felt right. Ran to the local shop this weekend to grab a few things and saw this one hanging in the wall. Decided to take it for a spin and needless to say, it came home with me!
