I like the vibe of models photographed on black background but I'm still struggling with losing lots of details and shading in comparison to white one.
Now, I need to paint some unit that will actually be worth riding in the back. Some sword brows with Helbrecht? Do you have a suggestion? I have only a Crusader squad and Eradicators done and I'm currently working on Intercessors (all the other BT models I painted so far are characters or dreads). Based on what I read, none of these need a ride to the battle.
Also, this is the first time I tried to make photos on black background. Possibly, they are too dark. I take any feedback for that as well. I have an iPhone and two lamps.
I think I will add a chain around his sword arm and paint a templar cross on his helmet forehead to make him more chapter aligned.
I love these models so much. This is the first time I tried to use resin pieces that simulate the muzzle flesh and some OSL that comes with it. It would be better to try these with models that do not have blast shields that stop most of the light.
In retrospect, I should have gone more overboard with BT bits. Add some candles, relics, etc., not just chains and transfers.
Still, I'm quite satisfied how they turned out.
Someone asked me for a comparison photo of my Hastarii. I can as well post it here for others. I chosen Alpha and regular trooper from all three units (Hastarii Fusiliers are only primed so I did not included them). Note, that Hastarii are bit higher from the ground, on pine bark base, while all the Skitarii are flat on the ground. Still, they are way bigger than I expected. Chunky boys!
What a sweet scene. I love mirror shots and this one took me by surprise. Was it practical or stitches together in post? Did you seen any behind the scenes?
Awesome model design! I enjoyed painting them a lot, unlike the recent Thulia. The Alpha has his Eradication Caster on the back. I know that it is supposed to be wired directly into the Hastarius arm but I wanted to acknowledge that he has one at least symbolically. I'm sure these were designed to be fielded as 10 models unit with Alpha without the Caster.
