How bad of an idea is it to level a rogue?

I'm itching to level a third alt but I'm in a pickle. I already have a warrior and a paladin that I raid on. I was forced to play horde by friends, and the only races I like on horde are undead and blood elves, in that order. I'm sure you can see that this is leading me to rogue being my only other option, but the amount of sheer hatred I see towards them has me kinda hesitant. Would I be better off just not leveling one at all and playing some other game when it's not raid time?

Has anyone here left IT and pivoted to something else?

I have worked in IT for ISPs for over a decade. In that time, I have had a few different roles, eventually leading up to the title "network engineer" (I am a glorified NOC tech). Truth be told, I have no idea what Im doing. At best, I follow processes that I memorize, and I figure new things out by asking people and then writing down what they say. But when real complex things happen, I always have to reach out to more senior people for help, and most of the time the things that they do just go over my head.

I am tired of feeling this way and want to get out of IT. I have started to apply to internal positions that look interesting in the hopes that I can land something. My question is, has anyone here gone through this and ended up happier after leaving IT, and what did you end up moving to?

What is the cheapest DPS alt to gear up?

I was debating leveling a priest to play shadow but it seems that might not be a cheap option. Other considerations are feral druid or enhance but I'm open to suggestions.

Would it make more sense to sell this house now instead of keeping it?

Hello all,

About a year and a half ago I got a better job offer in another state my wife and I wanted to move to. I didnt want to deal with selling our current home at the time while trying to navigate a move to another state, and coincidentally my family needed an affordable place to live because apartment rents are so high, so I agreed that we would rent that home to them while we moved. We have a 3.75% rate on that home and I bought it back in 2020 of course so I was able to rent it for them for cheap with the intent of selling it in a couple of years before I have to deal with capital gains taxes. We lived there for five years so it is my understanding I have about two years before I have to worry.

Fast forwarding to now, things have been great until this month. As can be expected when it comes to family, some stuff got shaken up and now Ive had to make some adjustments with them. We get paid enough to cover the expenses but not much else, luckily I fixed almost everything in that house recently so it just needs basic maintenance. I guess my question is, would I be stupid to just sell it now and park the proceeds in a HYSA or something? I know 3.75% is not as great as a lot of the rates from the covid times but a part of me is wanting to hold onto this house for some reason.

Finally finished DQ2 Remake

I had DQ1-3 on Gameboy color as a kid and I could never beat 2, it was hard as hell. DQ3 was my favorite and I spent so many hours on it so I was really excited for the remakes. I finished DQ2 Remake just now that that ending hit my soul, this is probably the best remake of a game I have ever experienced.

Service to move fiber modem, what can I expect?

Initial tech installed my modem in a closet under the stairs because the builder ran a conduit tube into it. Due to its location there is no simple way for me to run cables internally and my wifi sucks because all the hardware is enclosed in said closet.

I called customer service and they said they could send a tech out to move the modem. My question is, what exactly would this entail. Is the tech just going to drill a hole into the exterior wall and run a fiber into wherever I say I need the modem?

Third alt for a Ret / Arms enthusiast

Been raiding for a bit on my ret and arms warrior, but Im itching to level an alt. At first I thought a hunter would be a good option since they can use two handers to melee weave, but melee weaving looks pretty annoying to do for one, and the thought of having to pug for beast lord sounds worse.

This leaves me thinking that my only real choice is to just level another warrior or paladin. Dopes anyone on here raid on multiples of the same class and enjoy it?

How bad of an idea is it to level a rogue at this point?

I raid on a warrior, paladin and enhance shaman. I want to level another melee and rogue is my only option but I know people hate them. Would it be best to expect that this rogue wont get much use outside of PVP? Alternatively I could level a hunter, but they seem just as overpopulated if not more.

Belf vs Undead rogue for casual play - does it matter?

Debating which one of these two to pick. I think they both look cool, but their racials look useful in different ways. The undead one is straightforward, but arcane torrent looks like it could be useful if you can get 3 mana taps before a boss to get that 30 energy boost? I plan to do casual arena / bgs to get my S1 gladiator armor and then just do dungeon stealth runs for gold. I will only raid on days my guild needs a random fill for our third raid, or for the random karazhan.

Edit: Thanks everyone, undead it is. I like them more anyway

Hunter, Rogue or Priest for occasional pugging / gold farming?

Ive never played any of these, usually stick to pally / warrior / enhance sham. Just want to level something different. I am drawn to rogue because its melee and ive heard they can stealth run dungeons for stuff, but I know they are hated for raids. Hunter seems interesting other than the beast lord farming which sounds like ass. Shadow priest sounds cool, I have never in my time in wow played a caster, but I dont know anything about healing or if priests can farm anything. Just curious what peoples opinions are.

Spectrum modem relocation

I chatted with Spectrum customer service to see if I could pay to have my modem moved or an Ethernet outlet put in. The customer service person said they could send someone out to have the modem moved for $65.

My question is, what does this actually entail? Will the tech actually rerun the fiber through my house? Right now, they used a conduit run that my builder put in that goes into a closet. Technically, I don't really need them to move the modem, simply putting in an outlet on the second floor would solve my issue, but I imagine the tech would have to drill into the house through my exterior wall.

Basically, I'm wondering what they would actually do in this situation so I don't waste a techs time coming out to my house.

36M - Feel stuck, tired, regretful, and I want, need to change my mindset.

I have been working in IT for close to 15 years in some capacity. I have worked my way up to where I make a decent living, I get to work from home, really, realistically I should be nothing but grateful and happy.

The problem is, I am at a point where I have remained too "entry level" for too long. I have worked in a NOC for a while, I liked the work and they paid well enough so I just stayed. In that time, I have sort of lost all the drive I had for IT. I have no interest in studying, getting certs to advance, etc. I just log in, do my work, log out, and spend time with my family.

This has led me to live in a cycle of dread where if I ever lose this job, Ill be screwed, so then I try to force myself to study for certs and it is so mind numbingly boring it makes me even more depressed. I think that, if I could somehow figure out how to just stop caring so much and take things as they come, Id probably be fine. But as it stands im always just stressing over either trying to advance, or go into a different field entirely so i have experiene in two things.

Im wondering what people did to overcome feelings like this? How did you learn to disconnect?

How do you get into IT Audit / GRC?

Question in title. Is this something you need specific experience / a degree for? Im very curious about the field after seeing some older posts about it on here.

What heroics are "easier" to tank as a new 70 warrior?

Finally got my warrior to 70 and put together a tank set that is crit capped with 11k HP. I tried to tank a normal Slabs last night and although we made it through, it was a nightmare because the warlock wouldnt stop seeding everything and dying.

I know Mechanar might be ok, but Im trying to remember which dungeons have mostly 2-3 mob packs that would be manageble.

As the title states, Ive been working in this NOC for a little over a year now. I got up to speed on most tasks quickly and I get looked to for performing a lot of day to day stuff, but its mostly just repeat tasks that I assume would provide no value elsewhere or mean anything on a resume.

The main issue is that there really isnt a path to learning things. My "training" was "here is where you log in, if you need help ask this guy", and the guy that I was supposed to learn from was always busy. I have kinda made to where I am by asking questions and writing things down, but almost daily some new thing ive never seen before will come up and the same cycle is repeated where I have to find someone to ask, write down what they say, and then hope this issue happens again at some point so I can try to remember it.

I do like the job a lot, I am paid well enough, and management / my team here seems to think Im going great, but I always feel like I dont know what the hell is going on. Is this normal in these types of environments?
