I just took apart this PS2 slim to replace the cmos battery as the original went dead. I put everything back together and the laser ribbon keeps coming undone. The motor for the laser will continuously spin and and not position itself where it needs to be and almost makes a rattling noise. Ive reseated the ribbon 4 times now and it keeps falling out and not seating properly. Any tips?
I recently have gotten into repairing PS2s, this one was bought from a Goodwill auction and they had it listed as "Parts & Repair". Specifically they stated it does not read games. I thought Id give it a shot, because disc read failure can be a really simple fix or it could lead to getting a new laser, but the console looked in great condition. It came in the mail today, and I hooked it up and tested it with multiple types of games and made sure memory cards work etc. I have had no issues with it so far. I consider this a win in my book. I really wonder why they were having issues with it, maybe their test game was bad?
Hello everyone, I originally wanted to make a post and ask about what soldering iron I should be getting as a beginner that wants to start repairing old gaming consoles/controllers.
I am a complete newbie, I know little to nothing about soldering, but for years Ive always wanted to get into tech repair. If anyone could help point me in the right direction with what I should buy and where I should learn at, thatd be great!

Hello everyone, I was trying to get The Simpsons: Hit and Run, working on my 360. I tried the ISO version of the game and the GOD version, both resulting in a crash on open.
I got the rom from Vimms Lair so I dont think thats the issue. I am using Aurora and xbGuard for a stealth server as well.
I tried to do some research, but I couldn't really find any solutions. What do I have to do differently than what's needed with 360 games? If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd greatly appreciate it! Overall, I'd just like to know how to get OG Xbox games to work.

Was good everyone, now that I have my 360 S soft modded to my liking, I am looking for some new games to try out. It could literally be anything, as long as I can easily download the game, Im willing to try it out. I am trying to expand my horizon when it comes to the games I play. Hit me with some recommendations!

Okay, this is driving me crazy.
First off I am using ABadAvatar. I got everything setup as it should be. Including xbGuard and I have Aurora setup to start on launch. I recently figured out how to add modules to xbGuard. I downloaded a mod menu for GTA 4 and put the xex file in my launch.ini file for one of the plugins.
When I boot up my xbox I get the notification that the mod gives letting me know that it has been successfully loaded and it is ready for me to start GTA. To be specific I am using CloutIV. I load up the game, I get the notification saying "Welcome to CloutIV" etc, but when the game actually starts loading nothing is different. The mod should be giving me different loading screens and what not indicating its working.
The thing is it doesnt do that, it boots up the game without the mod, but at the beginning it says it is. I dont know whats going on and its driving me crazy. Any help is appreciated!
