How exactly do you transition to full time?

I’ve been interested in acting, but I currently have a retail job. But I’m a little unsure of the transition? Should you try out some half day subbing for a while first? I was thinking my current retail job could always be my summer job too. Just unsure because I have heard you have to find jobs really quickly which seems a little unstable so I’m a little nervous.
I’ve been debating between substitute teachers aide since I don’t a degree or just hoping to go to part time at my current job and maybe picking up Instacart? I’m not sure.

I feel like I’m in a weird place.

I feel like I can’t say this in the Christianity sub. But it’s like for me I think I believe in higher power (but I’m still not 100%), I don’t believe the Bible stories actually happened, and I’ve never liked church and praying.

Curious if anyone else is like this? I don’t know if I should try a Quaker church like once a month or not. Idk I feel kind of left out at times. I don’t really know if I consider myself actually agnostic or not.

What type of work schedule lifestyle is the best option?

I’ve been interested in doing acting, writing, and social media on the side, but I’m not sure what route to go for my actual day job since I will still need one. I’ve been kind tired of the retail schedule and always working holidays, but I don’t think I want to do serving either.

So what specific lifestyle do you think is the best route for not wanting to do a retail schedule?

A work from home job? I know this is harder, but maybe like data entry, paralegal, copywriter, or medical writer maybe?

Working at a school? I do think school librarian is interesting and substitute teaching, but I think in my state you need a degree with substituting and school librarian probably would not work with acting.

A freelance business idea with a little more freedom of your schedule? Voice acting? Stenography field? Dog groomer? Photography? Graphic Design? (I did take two years of media but didn’t finish so maybe)

Or like a 3x12s type of job? The only thing that seems interesting me in this schedule is working with animals though idk. Still don’t quite know if this works with acting.

I still don’t really understand how you are only supposed to choose only one path tbh.

When to feel ready to start proofreading for court reporters?

I just recently completed a proofreading course and created a Facebook business page. But I still feel a little confused about the beginning and end of a court transcript page. I also still have a full time job. I guess I’m kind of nervous to start looking.

Does anyone else have such a disagreeable family?

I never really knew how to put it into words when I was younger but I think this is what is.

I have three brothers and my parents. And pretty much all of them when you have a conversation with them they can never agree with anything you have to say. They will also act like the grammar police and pick a part every little detail. And they also act like know it alls all of sudden if you get a fact wrong. And they just like to debate I guess.

Like I one time saw one my brothers when they were like twelve getting into a full blown argument with my dad over him saying the wrong word… I’ve also seen all my brothers and my dad do it sometimes too at CHURCH with their friends. And my dad is a pastor too. It would get embarrassing during church games over game rules and calls in the games at times because they’re also super competitive.

My mom not so much but she’ll still kind of do it if you have an opposing view.

But it’s exhausting. I just don’t know how to talk to them anymore. And it makes me sad because of it. My two brothers moved away and I haven’t really reached out to call because of it because I know what it’s going to lead to anyways.

And I feel like I can’t enjoy my days off with them. I’ve been applying to low income based apartments and am just waiting but it’s hard.

Just curious if anyone else deals with this too.

Family dress standards

Not really sure how to title this. But my entire immediate family has like different dress standards. Anyone notice how it’s kinda weird sometimes?

Like my parents unfortunately is the strictest with dress codes unfortunately. I have to wear basically what the Duggars wear unfortunately.

My dad’s side of the family doesn’t have a dress code at all. They can freely choose what they wear.

My mom’s side of the family doesn’t make sense to me at all though. They’re like in the middle I guess now? But in the beginning they never wore denim. When I visited them or look at their social media they would wear church clothes every single day - not even denim skirts. They always dressed super nice and I always felt out of place. But now that they moved out they’ve loosened up. But for some reason still never wear denim? They mostly wear mini skirts and dresses, dressy shorts, or trousers. There’s only a couple of photos of them in jeans. I guess they just have a very classy style since they lived by Chicago and just don’t like denim? Idk I always found it strange that all my cousins did the same style, but never veered off to try out their own thing.

I never understood how my parents became strict since they didn’t have the same rules that I did. But at the same time it does give me a little anxiety when I visit because either way I know I’m going to get judged. Just curious if anyone else has had weird dress standards with their families.

How does taking time off work for proofreaders or scopists?

According to google it says they can make their own schedule. How exactly does that work though? Do they just let you know?

I just finished doing a proofreading course, so I’m kind of nervous and am just curious before jumping in. I’ve been kind of interested in trying out acting and have been looking for extra incomes. I have also considered trying scoping as well maybe eventually.

I’m honestly tired of the hierarchy structure in the congregation.

Man, I made a vent post on the Christianity sub telling parents with young kids that they needed to stop ignoring their kids at church and treating the teenagers and young adults like free babysitters so that we could also enjoy the after services like the married couples could.

I got called rude, a Karen, a kid hater, and that it was something I made up in my head apparently.

I’m not hating on parents or kids. It’s just that the older married couples or the parents themselves straight up ignore them so that only they can mingle with only each other. Then in turn the kids go straight to teenagers and young adults to entertain them and we can’t enjoy the after services the same way that married couples can. This has been my experience at most churches I’ve been too and it’s annoying after a while. And you can ignore them, but then they take your friend next. And in my experience married couples just don’t want to hang out with single adults.

I don’t really understand why it is that way sometimes. In the outside world or the workforce, it doesn’t matter what stage of life you are or gender. Sure there’s still sexism, but I don’t feel it as much. But you can generally befriend anyone. When I step into a church, I feel like I’m at the bottom of the food chain and that no one takes you seriously until you have kids and it gives me whiplash sometimes. It’s frustrating to me.

This has happened to me since I was kid. I also remember being so unsupervised at church. I remember being as young as ten years old and me, my siblings, my cousin, and my friends having random kids like 3-6 years old dumped on us by parents for like 1 hour plus. And sometimes we didn’t even know their names. I remember at times not knowing what to do with them. One time my cousin got a concussion, some of my friends asked to go on a hike alone once and they got lost, a kid’s face got bloody all over and had to get stitches (we still don’t know what happened) because of how unsupervised we were.

Has any other young people have this experience? Or just me? Because I always found it crazy to me.

EDIT: I’d like to add my problem is the lack of supervision because they want to talk and relying on young people with no children education/background not the kids. Idk why this is normalized. It’s a church problem when not one single adult is supervising and kids are left alone.
