FCFS Campsites on memorial weekend?

We are planning to get to king’s extremely early on saturday morning and camp there for a night. Then get to sequoia’s early sunday morning and camp there for a night. How much of a challenge is this? Is this realistic or should we try for another time?

Made the mistake of telling my manager I want to pursue another degree outside(ish) of my field.

I am a graphic designer at an ad agency and I wanted to pursue an online degree in User Experience at WGU. I figured they were somewhat closely related enough that I could argue why it would be beneficial for me as a graphic designer to apply the fundamentals of UX to graphic design (which is somewhat true) and my company could reimburse the tuition. UI/UX has always been an unexplored passion of mine and ever since I landed a job as a graphic designer, I just want to explore even more the world of UI/UX.

When I proposed this to my manager, she had me create a proposal deck to why it would be beneficial, etc — which I understand and did do. Then it became this whole thing that I don’t want to get so deep into but I decided to just pay the whole thing on my own instead of going through all this trouble. She then said she doesn’t want to have this conversation with me months later saying how I’m not a team player and how these are the busiest months of the work season. I reassured her that I wouldn’t let what I do outside get in the way of work. I also reminded her that I already completed about 30% of the degree from transferrable credits + I already have background knowledge & some experience to breeze through topics I already know. She said she’s sure I won’t let this get in the way but it kind of sounded like a nice threat.

I told her I only made this decision 2 days ago so nothing is set in stone. How bad did I fuck up? Should I just let her know that I have decided not to pursue it anymore and secretly still pursue it? Should I start looking for another job?

People who are NOT passionate about their jobs tend to be the best at it.

I can’t give too many examples that most people would know, but one is Nikola Jokic.

Other examples are just people that I’ve worked with over the years. They come, get their job done, and leave. They don’t go too above and beyond/pour their souls into something so they avoid burnout— which, in return, allows them to produce and continue to produce good work. They don’t have beef with anyone nor care to care so much that, by default, are not truly involved in any politics or drama. They are often liked and are often easy to work with.

Coachella has gotten worse with crowds and have shifted their focus towards profits. Snowboarding used to be about thrill and now it’s about profits. Disneyland used to be a place for kids and now it’s barely affordable with each ride wait time being at LEAST 1 hour. Same goes for all other parks. Cafe hopping used to be so fun— spending $5 a pop and everybody getting their own fun little drink to try.. now it’s $9-12 a pop and we have to split drinks. Every fucking thing is about money. I wish things stayed lowkey. I wish people would stop promoting shit on the internet making things “trendy” or a “must-have” this and that. Every fucking thing is now fucking big holy shit
