The infamous “Smoking Charmander”

Hey there! Just wanted to show my latest addition to my Controversial/Banned Pokemon TCG collection (you can find it here https://www.reddit.com/r/WotCPokemonCards/s/Cx2Bn9llMm): Charmander from Coro Coro Tora Karuta mini set released in 1997. Really unique piece and also really controversial concept as far it concerned a kids hobby that was in its first phases of being. Would you consider grading it to certify its authenticity? Have a great day and thank you for reading!

This happened

I’m a Gengar and Komiya collector and I saw this Chinese product in a local shop, of which product I didn’t even know the existence. I opened it and pulled the Komiya’s Gengar model, but it looked off, as if it went under a truck. I thought it was resealed but then I noticed it had the same exact features of the Komiya artwork! I think I never had this luck! Just the one I needed and it’s so sick

I present you the *complete* Pokemon TCG Controversial Cards Collection

At first I wanted to do a banned card collection, but as long as I managed to complete it I really wanted to make it as complete and historical accurate as possible. So I started collecting every version of those cards (deck, expansion, first and unlimited japanese version) and the First Edition English version to see the modified artworks.

Then I noticed how many Jynx are considered banned because of international controversy about the black-face phenomenon, so I included all of those cases and also every Jynx “black-face” never released in the West and exclusive to the East. You will notice I also included the Funskool Jynx, a really interesting pick, because it’s never been answered its authenticity.

At last, I included the legal issue started by illusionist Uri Geller, which sued Nintendo for using his image and brand on Kadabra. So you find the first one that started the issue (Team Rocket/Rocket Gang Dark Kadabra) and the last one printed (Skyridge/Split Earth Kadabra) ever printed until 2021, when Uri allowed Nintendo to print Kadabra again.

So, the result is not a simple banned card collection, but it really is a corpus that show us the meeting of two really important and distant cultures, Western and Eastern. Every card here presented tells a story and stands besides the mere economical value this hobby seems to have as priority nowadays. Collect stories, memories and leave money and investments outside this hobby, if you care about its future. Happy 30th anniversary people!

151 Surprise Slim Box Chinese mi

This should be the product’s market price, but all of the ebay seller that sell this for this price are selling the fake one, while the authentic ones are selling for above 150$. How can this be fixed?

I collect Komiya’s artwork and it’s always interesting having a complete Pokedex line. But I guess Pocket ruined it
