I really think gaming and entertainment companies underestimate the power of representation and its ability to expand the reach of their medium.

I’m not someone who considers himself a sci-fi fan. This genre never really caught my interest. I would have never imagined myself playing a series like Mass Effect.

Until I saw a random gif of Kaidan and MaleShep’s romance sex scene from Mass Effect 3 and it caught my attention and I read a bit about the game and the possibility of a gay romance and I made the decision to purchase the game. And now it’s one of my favourite franchises of all time despite a gay romance pathway not available in the first 2 games.

Same goes for games like Dragon Age Inquisition and Final Fantasy XVI. I love fantasy but I came to know about the games because of the discussion surrounding a potential gay romance in DAI and the presence of a prominent gay side character in FFXVI.

I’m not saying every game needs to have gay or bisexual characters or a queer romance option but I really don’t think it hurts company sales to have them included. Quite the opposite, I believe companies have more to gain because the close-minded will complain regardless of what you do, the remaining audience will not really care and the queer community will see themselves represented in video games. Same goes for other mediums such as comics, movies or series. Again not every game or medium needs to have queer characters but overall I believe people underestimate how many gay or bisexual people exist in any given society and the percentage they represent.

I’m not sure we’ll ever see a massively popular game centered around an exclusively gay or bi male protagonist, but representation matters greatly and benefits everyone, even corporations who couldn’t give a shit about queer people and play the representation card as a PR stunt.

Has anyone here played both FF7 Remake and DMC 3,4,5? Which series should I get?

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade (Remake +
DLC) ~22$

Or

DMC Bundle (1, 2, 3SE, 4SE) + DMC 5SE
~28$

I'm generally a single-player, narrative-driven type of person. The bulk of the games I've played are Assassin's Creed, Uncharted, Hitman WOA, Bioshock, Witcher 3, Spider-Man, Arkham Games, Mass Effect 1 and 2, Mafia, Resident Evil 2 Remake and some platformers here and there.

I know nothing about the games. I watched some gameplay for both but couldn't really pinpoint the pros and cons of each game.

Looking for either a strong narrative and strong characters or strong gameplay with a serviceable story line. Or ideally both.

Would appreciate some input or feedback on either game.

Is it normal that my marketing manager is less technical than me when it comes to performance marketing?

I joined a company as part of their in-house marketing team as a performance marketeer. My manager is quite good at people management, negotiating with other departments, delegating the work, ensuring we are not being overloaded or overwhelmed with requests, prioritizing tasks…he even increased our marketing ad spend budget…however he seems not to be very technically aware. He knows what data he requires from META or GA4 but doesn’t know how to navigate the platforms himself or even how to properly set up an ad campaign across any of the platforms. Content, story telling and communication seems to be his strong suit but I’m not sure if it’s normal for them to not be technically skilled.

this scene has got me giggling, blushing and kicking my feet

First time playing the Mass Effect games. l've completed ME1 and 2 and l've moved on to 3.
I was pretty furious knowing you can't romance Kaidan in the first or second game. I knew this romance was possible in the third game but I really didn't know I would love it this much and be so invested. This is the first gay romance I experience on video games.

From the get-go the way they speak to each other when they first meet, you can tell they've missed each other tremendously to the banter on Mars to Kaidan getting injured and Shepard being frantically worried about him…honestly kudos to the voice actors! You can feel the chemistry.

First thing I did before arriving to the Citadel before meeting the council or being concerned with the world crisis is visit Kaidan in the hospital. And the follow-up scene where they bury the hatchet of Horizon and Kaidan asks him if he's flirting honestly had me giggling and smiling.

I can’t wait to see how the follow-up scenes with these 2 play out!

[Spoilers] Accidentally found out this about Nero...Did I just ruin the games for myself?

Planning on getting into Devil May Cry. Never played the games before. Wanted to start at DMC1 and make my way to DMC5.

I was watching some gameplay on YouTube to better guide my decisions and I was relatively pleased. But I also accidentally found out through one of the video titles that Nero is Vergil’s son and I haven’t even started the series yet.

I’m just wondering if I just ruined the game for myself narrative-wise. Is this one of the big endings of the game? Or is this just a minor reveal and unrelated to the ending of the game?

Would appreciate non-spoilers answers :)

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Integrade or Devil May Cry 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5?

Both are currently on sale for around the same price.

Edit: Apologies! Didn’t know FF7 wasn’t turn-based! :)

Should I Buy: Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade or Devil May Cry 1,2,3,4 and 5?

Both are on sale on the PS Store:

FFVII Remake Intergrade (~22 CAD)

and

DMC Bundle (1, 2, 3SE and 4SE) and 5SE (All together around ~28 CAD)

They add up to almost the same price. I’ve never played these series and know very little about them.

Here are some games I’ve played across my gaming journey: Assassin’s Creed, Spider-Man PS4 and Miles Morales, Mass Effect 1 and 2, BioShock 1, Hitman WOA, Arkham Games, Uncharted, Witcher 3. I mostly do single player and story-driven games.

Mostly looking for either very good narrative with interesting characters or very good engaging gameplay with a serviceable story or ideally both combined. I watched some gameplay for both but I’m still unsure of what to proceed with. For some reason, they seem similar to me but I could be wrong.

Finished ME2 for the first time…I have a few comments about the last act.

First time playing the trilogy and this is the first time I complete of ME2.

Overall I loved the game. Great world-building and excellent in-depth analysis of the different races and their dynamics.

But to be honest I hated how Kaidan (my favourite character from ME1) was given barely one or 2 lines before he went off screen. They did absolutely nothing with him while the other squad mates from ME1 got a completely different treatment.

Coming to the Ending:

Overall I’m quite disappointed and left underwhelmed with the last act. We spent 90% of the game recruiting people, doing loyalty missions and preparing for the suicide mission, only for the suicide mission to end before it even begins.

For me the last act in ME1 is when you finally catch up to Saren around Virmire or even Ilos. Because you’ve been building up the story and now you’re finally at Saren’s tail for a change. In ME2 you spend so much time recruiting people with the expectation of a grand and epic finale yet the ending doesn’t even have a proper boss fight. The fight with the Human Reaper doesn’t count. The whole thing just felt like it was cut short and left much to desire.

Also the story progressed no where. Shepard was killed and brought back and the collectors were stopped from building the Human Reaper and that’s a wrap. All my team and everyone on the ship survived. But all this recruitment, preparation and doing the loyalty missions led to no where because the last act was so short and the stakes during that mission didn’t feel high at all. Story felt more like a dlc than a standalone game.

No one told me the fishies die :(

First time playing Mass Effect 2.

Bought a couple of fishies from the Citadel and Illium. Fed them then did a few missions and found them dead.

Do they die if I don’t feed them after every mission? Or what’s the logic here?

Do I need more than 1000€ for tourism - 1 week in Portugal and 1 week in Spain? (Excluding accommodation and transportation)

A friend and I are heading to a trip in Portugal and Spain.

1 week in Portugal in Lagos and Porto.
1 week in Spain in Seville and Barcelona.

We’re already covered in terms of accommodation across cities and transportation between cities.

So I’m wondering around how much it would cost us for 2 weeks across Portugal and Spain and is 1000€ enough per person if we’re planning to visit the regular tourist sites, eating out, beaches and nightlife. This is around 70€/ person / day.

Why are tickets to Lebanon in Adha insanely expensive? Between 1000$ and 2000$ for a round trip.

They’re aware that people want to visit their families during these difficult times and check up on their loved ones and home yet they spike up the prices as though people can afford to splurge thousands of dollars on a flight back home…

I have a 15 Hour Layover in Paris. I land at CDG at 6 AM. How to make the most of my limited time?

On my way to Portugal in June, I have a 15 Hour Layover in Paris. I arrive on a Saturday.

I would like to exit the airport and explore the city briefly.
I've never been to France or Paris before, therefore I would like to make the most of my limited time there. Any recommendations for activities I can do? I've always been intrigued by Paris' Art Scene/ Museums/ History but I don't want to limit myself to that aspect of Paris. Any recommendations?

I arrive at CDG at 6 AM and depart to Portugal at 9 PM.

Seems like a silly question to ask but I’ve always wondered whether Iron Man was always popular or was did his popularity spike post MCU appearances?

Growing up I wouldn’t say I was necessarily an avid comic book reader but more of a casual fan. I grew up with Spider-Man, Batman and Robin, Superman, Wonder Woman, Justice League, Wolverine, Mystique and X-Men, Hulk, Black Cat, Fantastic 4 amongst others.

I can vaguely remember Iron Man being mentioned here and there but nothing significant.
