Clarkson's Farm vs Hammond's Workshop

Has anyone else found Clarkson’s Farm and Richard Hammond’s Workshop have completely changed their opinions of the two — in opposite directions?

I never expected Clarkson to become such an endearing figure. We see him vulnerable, getting older, dealing with health issues and, importantly, letting Kaleb, Charlie and the others be the experts and stars of the show.

Workshop has done almost the opposite for me. It started as Hammond helping Neil Greenhouse and his family build a restoration business. But gradually it seems to have become more and more about Hammond — even Anthony’s racing storyline eventually became Hammond racing. Now Neil has left under unhappy circumstances and the original dynamic has largely disappeared.

The contrast that strikes me is: Clarkson’s Farm has become less about Clarkson and more about the people around him, while Workshop has become more about Hammond and less about the people around him.

Twenty years ago I’d definitely have chosen Hammond for a pint. Today, though, I’d choose Clarkson for sure.

Anyone else see it this way?

EliteWheels - which Rim model?

Hi all,

I think I have finally settled on purchasing EliteWheels carbon for my CAAD3 road resto build.

I'm having a hard time figuring out the differences between the 4 models I see available on their main AliExpress page.

Of the 4 models for RIM brakes, what is the sweet spot? I dont need the lightest and would prefer more robustness than lightness but at the same time want good braking material on the brake rim area and quality build. Here are the prices and number sold of the 4 I see. I dont mind going with EDGE if its "one and done" type wheel. Thanks!

RIM BRAKE:

EDGE $600, 700+

ENT $390, 1,000+

SLT $476, 118

SLR $449, 381

EDIT: Also, I just looked at the website. I dont see any of the models listed above on that website. Bit strange?

Diverge 3 2026 - hand-me-down?

hi all,

im in the market for an entry level gravel bike. on paper i like the look of the diverge in terms of comfort as im not as young as i was!!!

I also love wrenching my bikes and am wary of the specialized front suspension unit being proprietary.

so when i heard that the diverge 3 has regular front forks AND a 2x groupset it seemed perfect for me.

only issue i can see is im wondering if its a “left over” model from the previous generation or did specialized actually make a 2026 “3” version?

thanks!

1999 CAAD3 - upgrade or buy a new bike?

want to get back into road riding. been mountain biking for years. I have this very old caad3. I think it would cost $1,000 to upgrade the wheels and components etc.

I really would need to spend $3k to buy a new bike to feel I’m upgrading. (at least in my mind!!!)

should I upgrade this bike and keep as a back up when I inevitably buy a new one anyway? or sell it and move on?

Just went along to 4 big dealerships in my area in North Carolina. Boots on the ground looking at inventory for a family member.

Was looking for a 2019 - 2023 model with less than 80,000 miles. Black color if possible.

Well, we were in for a shock: They are all looking for $2k over fmv (according to all the sources I checked online). E.g. Cars that should be $23k are $25k.

And the worst part? Most of them have issues: terrible interiors, accident listing on CarFax, or just ratty looking in general.

I'm willing to pay a fair price for a decent model, but it seems there is not inventory of good examples available and even the bad ones are overpriced.

I'm tempted to bite the bullet and buy new.

In comparison, the Mazda CX-5s are fairly priced and in great shape and lots available.

What is going on?
