Is it worth funding an insulin pump privately in UK.

My son 35M has been diabetic since age 16. The NHS has been great looking after him but they won’t fund him an insulin pump (basically he’s too good at managing it). I’ve just had a pension payout and could fund one for a few years.

  1. is it worth it?
  2. Will the NHS still monitor him
  3. How easy is it to transfer back to the NHS/old system when the funds run out?
  4. Are there any other things I need to think of.

Thanks in advance.

Edit: Many have asked why he would want it if he’s managing well. Firstly it’s the constant injections, belly fat is really destroyed. Secondly it’s that support it would give so he can relax a bit, as you all know it’s just very tense.
You may also wonder why he cannot afford it himself. Well he did have a decent job as an ‘on the road’ engineer but his sugar levels fluctuated greatly at night and often caused him diarrhoea in the mornings. This meant he had to call in sick because he couldn’t drive. His sick record crept up and rather than be sacked he resigned. Since then he has started a new career path, working in an office as a project coordinator. They know his circumstance and tbh know he’s stuck and are only paying him just above minimum wage. Frustrating but long term there will be opportunities and they are retraining him. It’s difficult to start again at 35 and I would just like to give him one less thing to worry about.

Looking for suggestions

Looking for suggestions on how to jazz up the wall to the right which has had some rather ugly work done to it. It is not a unit it is built onto the wall. I want something softer.
There are also plugs behind the tv at the top which are now visible as my tv isn’t so big. Suggestions on how to hide but still accessible.
I haven’t got a huge budget so no major reworking of the wall.
I will also be removing the wall paper and painting throughout. And as you can see I have to add a door.
Thanks in advance.

Edit: I’m thinking some sort of wood trim or beading?

Pushy Estate Agents when buying part exchanged properties

Did you buy a part exchanged property and what was your experience?

For context I am currently supporting someone with the purchase of a property which had been part exchanged for a new build and our experience so far has been very negative. I would like to hear your experience and whether I need to watch out for anything.

Firstly the property is in first time buyer category. The person I am supporting has actually sold her house (3 weeks ago) and is living with me. We offered the full price asked and after a week it was finally accepted. Since then the estate agent working for the developer (who appears to also be the solicitors office) has been badgering us.

Firstly they demanded we request the searches and surveys within 48 hours and gave us a very tight timetable to completion. The wording as such is not that ‘they want to complete by xxxxx’ ( 6 weeks from offer accepted) but the ‘we WILL complete by xxxx’. I think they are being a little unrealistic as we will be relying on third parties such as surveyors and the mortgage company. Also twice now they have asked us to confirm how we will be paying (proceeds of house sale plus mortgage)- provided right at the start.

Had to provide evidence that money was available (B/S plus MIP) for them to take off the market, which they now have.

Just received the usual copy of the ‘what’s included’. They have not completed it themselves, they have just forwarded the one completed by the previous owner which includes £700 to buy the oven! We do not want or need an oven and it has never been part of any discussion so have pushed back through our solicitor.

Things that are currently concerning us:

  1. what if we can’t achieve xx/xx? Solicitor is on leave next week and we now only have 5 weeks. Searches have been paid for and Survey is being requested today (had to be done through mortgage company -Nationwide)
  2. should we be telling them to contact our solicitor about the timings and stop badgering us?
  3. they have asked for a small amount to pay for a finance check, has anyone had a problem with this?
  4. just really some assurance that their requests and demand have no real ‘teeth’ and what we should look out for.

Thanks in advance
