Everytime I listen to Obviously, I chuckle

Obviously is amazing. It's the type of song I'd play at my wedding as a Cole fan.

It's not a clean song, there's a "fuck" in a line in the second verse.

>If this ain't love, then what the fuck you call that?

But in the first verse, there is a line with "dick" that is censored.

>But I heard she wants the d— I give her all that

I think Cole wanted the song to be sweet to his girl, and I guess saying that his girl wants dick is kind of trashy, but it's funny because censoring it doesn't really help; we still know what he's actually saying. I don't even agree with the part about it being trashy either. I'm not sure why else it would be censored though.

Everybody Dies was originally an interlude on 4YEO

https://youtu.be/azC7-tBI6gw?si=b288AeKqQJbCPmj-&t=383

The picture is from a generated caption of the video.

I watched the documentary years ago but didn't notice this the first time. Ib is talking about potentially releasing one song early from 4YEO, like Neighbors, Immortal, or Everybody Dies Interlude. I think Everybody Dies being on the album would've changed the story of 4YEO significantly.

Is it really Cole's Civic on stage or just a prop?

Man if it's his real car being lifted into the air, that's actually insane. His poor 2005 Civic is probably begging to die. It has to drive all the way to Montreal, be lifted into the air from some cables like Superman, then drive all the way back to NYC or the Ville or wherever

Disclaimer: not my YouTube video, I found it online

S3E4: Nate trying to hide in elevator

Rewatching today, I forgot how funny this scene is. After a bunch of West Ham employees leave the elevator, Nate is trying to hide from Ted by camouflaging with the wall 😂.

Teasing Deja Vu (4YEO) in concert but not performing it

Why is he checking if Montreal knows Deja Vu and then not performing it 😭😭😭

The collective "awwww" from the crowd 😭😭😭

Disclaimer: I found this video online. It's not mine.

Searching for sale items on Costco.ca

I used to be able to search for sale items simply by searching for the category + "off". For example, "men's clothing off". I think it used to do some string based matching in the description of the items for all the words in the strings.

It seems this doesn't work anymore. Now, I get a bunch of non-sale items when I try to search for the sale items. I think the search functionality has changed from looking for all the words in the search string to only some of them (i.e. partial match). You can see in my picture that the first 3 items shown aren't on sale, and there are 9 pages of items, because it's just showing me all of men's clothing.

Has anyone noticed the same thing? Does anyone know how to achieve what I am trying to achieve?

Edit: typically in search, it prioritizes all of the words in the string, then a partial match. That's what "best match" is supposed to mean. It seems like the "best" part is now broken.

What is the first verse in Bombs in the ville about?

In the first verse, he's talking about hugging a girl in a parking lot, and wanting to cut off his hoes for her. Is it the same girl as the rest of the song? In the second verse, he's talking about meeting a girl after not seeing her for a long time and wanting to run away with her (obligatory "let's run aWAAYYYY"). The order of events confuses me, because don't you meet a girl first before you run away with her? I think maybe he's reminiscing about a situation in the past in the first verse, and then he runs into the same girl in the second verse, but I'm not sure.

Theoretical alternative name for the other half of The Fall Off

The Fall Off is amazing. I do think it's a bit long though in today's environment because everyone's attention span is cooked nowadays. I think it would have been more digestible released as two separate albums. I understand Cole doesn't give a shit and just wants to drop classics.

I think disc 39 is really the disc that's conceptually about The Fall Off and falling off gracefully at the height of your career. Disc 29, I'd call it something like Tales from the Ville or Back Home.

If you had to split the double album into two separate albums, which one would you call The Fall Off, and what would you name the other one?

"All the hoes are clean hoes, we need the dirty hoes"

In the Road to Homecoming documentary, Cole is listening to No Role Modelz, specifically this line:

"Out-of-touch-with-reality hoes

Out in Hollywood bringin' back five or six hoes"

The clean version of the song repeats six in place of hoes. In the explicit version they are listening to in the video, it repeats the six in the background, even though he is saying hoes in the foreground. After noticing this mistake in the video, Cole and Ib make the joke that "all the hoes are clean hoes, we need the dirty hoes". I thought this was really funny and I wanted to share it in case anyone hasn't seen this video before.

Two songs in a row that Cole would drop off The Sideline Story

Meet The Musician: J Cole Interview for Apple Music

At the timestamp linked above, Cole mentions that there are two songs in a row on The Sideline Story that he would have dropped and replaced with others. Has he ever said which ones they are?

If he hasn't said, my guess was Mr. Nice Watch and Cole World, but I was curious what others think.

  1. "Intro"

  2. "Dollar and a Dream III"

  3. "Can't Get Enough" (featuring Trey Songz)

  4. "Lights Please"

  5. "Interlude"

  6. "Sideline Story"

  7. "Mr. Nice Watch" (featuring Jay-Z)

  8. "Cole World"

  9. "In the Morning" (featuring Drake)

  10. "Lost Ones"

  11. "Nobody's Perfect" (featuring Missy Elliott)

  12. "Never Told"

  13. "Rise and Shine"

  14. "God's Gift"

  15. "Breakdown"

  16. "Work Out"
